arah Thomas recently joined the Keys Weekly as editor of the Key West edition. Thomas, an East Tennessee native, boasts a lifelong love-affair with Key West and is happy now to call the island “home.” Thomas studied creative writing at Tulane University in New Orleans, where she worked in the Editorial Department at NOLA. com. From there she pursued her publishing career in New York City, working for Macmillan and Penguin Books, and she taught writing at Columbia University, where she received a master’s of fine arts. At the behest of her grandmother, longtime Key West resident Jane Trammell, and the promise of warm weather, Thomas permanently made Key West her home three years ago. On the weekends, you can find Thomas giving her Old Town Literary Walking Tour, which occasionally detours to The Green Parrot. Thomas said she is “thrilled to be joining the Key West Weekly team.” According to Key West Weekly Publisher Britt Myers, Thomas adds to a growing team of talented individuals who “not only report on the community, but understand the importance of being part of the community.” “My proudest component at the Keys Weekly is our staff,” said Myers. “Sarah exemplifies the balance of professionalism, talent and artistry that we look for with each and every team member.” Have a story or lead for Thomas?
