Designed to support Indigenous filmmakers and new media screen-based writers and producers, participants will develop projects, write for multiplatform environments, and learn digital strategies that provide a continuum for contemporary storytelling forms. Faculty will provide mentorship and feedback on story and character, conceptual development, linear and nonlinear flow in digital landscapes, and explore alternative storytelling mediums and interactive elements in film, video, image, sound, and text.

The Banff Centre offers self-directed residencies to assist artists in achieving their artistic vision. By providing time and space for focused work and the freedom to conceptualize, create, research, or complete a project. Self-directed residencies are open to dancers, choreographers, musicians, composers, singer-songwriters, filmmakers, writers, playwrights, and curators. Residencies can be of any duration and artists can apply at any time. Financial assistance is available.
