Casino Night March 17 The Kern River Valley Chamber of Commerce will again be hosting a casino night on Saturday, March 17 at the KRV Senior Center in Lake Isabella, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Admission for the evening is $25 per person, which includes a corned beef and cabbage dinner, five tickets for a drawing and $2,000 in script. All script can be cashed in at the end of the evening for prizes. Trout Festival seeks volunteers March 19 Kern River Hatchery in Kernville is seeking volunteers to help staff Trout Fest. This free educational event introduces people to the sport of fishing and responsible angling.

Coinciding with the statewide trout opener, Trout Fest takes place on Saturday, April 28 the 13th year this event is being held. A preevent meeting for people wishing to volunteer will be held Monday, March 19 at 6 p.m. at the Rod and Gun Club located at 631 E. Evans Rd. in Wofford Heights. No knowledge of fishing is required. Volunteer Senior Outreach Program March 20 The community is invited to a public forum to learn more about the Volunteer Senior Outreach Program on Tuesday March 20 at 10 a.m. at College Community Services, 2731 Nugget Ave, and Lake Isabella (behind McDonald's). VSOP is an outreach program serving at-risk senior citizens in our community. The program was developed at your community's request and is funded by the Mental Health Services Act, and is sponsored by partners, Kern County Mental Health, Kern County Aging and Adult Services and College Community Services, Inc. New Volunteer Orientation March 21 Optimal Hospice Care would like to invite you to our springtime New Volunteer Orientation.
