Mwai Kibaki Hospital projects

The Government of Kenya funded the construction of key Hospital projects that are critical to the operations of the Mwai Kibaki Hospital (KNH Othaya Annex) for Sh343M. The projects include the Kitchen, Laundry, Mortuary, Oxygen Plant, Internal Roads Water storage tank & Borehole. All projects are 100% complete and operational.

Kitchen

The Kitchen has the capacity of producing sufficient meals for 450 in-patients and has adequate machinery required for the preparation of special diets. The facility has its cold room, storage, and cafeteria among other facilities.

Laundry

The laundry can handle all the Hospital laundry needs and related services such as tailoring and ironing.

Mortuary

The Mortuary has a capacity of accommodating more than 120 bodies when fully operational. Currently, it has initial operationalization for 33 bodies and has a chapel and a fully equipped post-mortem room among other related facilities.

Oxygen plant

The Oxygen plant has a capacity of producing 800 liters of Oxygen per minute and has a complete cylinder filling unit. Therefore, the center can meet the Hospital’s oxygen needs and support other facilities in the region.

Internal Roads

The internal roads have created easy access to all the facilities within the Hospital both by vehicles and pedestrians. The Hospital also worked closely with the Kenya Rural Roads Authority to create connections to the nearby roads.

Water Storage Tank and Borehole

The established water storage tank has a capacity of 75,000 liters and is connected to a borehole. This facility is expected to supplement the main water supply to the Hospital by Mukurweini Water and Sewerage Company (MUWASCO).
