Ghostly Guests and Scary Stories: Haunt Your Library Contest
GRADES K-12 ALL BRANCHES: FRI., OCT. 1 - FRI., OCT. 22 It’s a creepy contest! Engage your spirit of creativity in the haunting of your library by submitting poetry, prose (700 words or less), 2D art (physical art or digital file), or spoken word (recordings 2 minutes or less) for a chance to win prizes. Categories by age for K-12. One winner will be selected per grade level. Original submissions will be accepted Oct. 1 through 22, with winners notified on Oct. 31. Works must include full name, address, phone number, school name, teacher’s name, grade, and teacher’s email address. See library website for submission details.
Reading Buddies*
AGES 3-12 ERLANGER: MONDAYS • 4:30-5:30 PM Children are invited to read with one of our Reading Buddy volunteers. We’ll provide lots of fun, interactive books. Read for the Record
COVINGTON: THURS., OCT. 28 • ALL DAY Join us all day to read this year’s book, “Amy Wu and the Patchwork Dragon” by Kat Zhang. Activities will be available all day in the Children’s Department, and participants will be entered into a raffle drawing. Jumpstart’s Read for the Record is a global movement to raise awareness around the critical importance of early literacy.
