WHY KENNESAW STATE?

SOME OF THE MOST Secret #33

LUXURIOUS

RESIDENCES

IN THE COUNTRY? CHECK.

It’s no secret that communal bathrooms and smelly, cramped dorms are not everyone’s favorite. It’s a good thing Kennesaw State’s on-campus residences aren’t your average dorms. All students have their own private bedrooms. Every single student who lives on campus will only share a bathroom with, at most, one other person. No more wondering what that smell is … no more cramped space … no more hoping you will make friends. Our new residences and robust residence life will help you get in gear at Kennesaw State. Let us roll out the red carpet.

Welcome home Owls. kennesaw.edu/housing

“Living on campus is the best of both worlds: You’re on your own but you still have the security of having people around you that are going through the same things.” - Garrett Campbell Major: Human Services

Not many students have the opportunity to boast that they were on the cusp of the newest athletic tradition in the Owl Nation. Poised to add to our six national championships and 17 conference championships, cheering on the Owls at home or away is a staple of life at Kennesaw State University. We bleed black and gold.

It’s as simple as that. ksuowls.com

DINING HALL? YOU BET.

Think you know how college food is supposed to taste? Here’s a hint: we don’t open a can and pour it on your plate for lunch. Our student dining hall, The Commons, is ranked top 10 in the country for most delicious college food. We tantalize your taste buds by serving up nine unique culinary experiences that change on a daily basis. Add that to multiple hydroponics and three farms off campus growing a wide array of vegetables and herbs, and you have a recipe that is both nutritious and positively delectable.

WHY KENNESAW STATE?

WE’RE CLOSE … Secret #9

…VERY CLOSE

Did you know that you are only 20 minutes from one of the most exciting cities in the country? Atlanta is a dynamic metropolitan center full of vast opportunities and offers an invaluable part of the Kennesaw State experience. You can swim with sharks at the Georgia Aquarium or sample soda from all over the planet at the World of Coca-Cola. Concerts from renowned artists and exquisite art exhibits are in abundance. Bonus: being this close to Atlanta allows students to commute back and forth for internships and co-ops.

The options are limitless with the bright lights as our backdrop. “There’s so many different events that go on around the university because of its proximity to Atlanta. There’s always an opportunity to meet a professional or meet someone that you never know what connection they’re going to open up for you.” - Caleb Buxton Major: Integrative Studies

KEYS TO

SUCCESS 37

ACADEMIC SUPPORT At Kennesaw State, we know students will need extra help with tricky classes from time to time. That’s why we offer free tutoring for every subject. The Writing Center is a hidden secret at Kennesaw State. Their offices will evaluate your paper and make recommendations. They even, on occasion, email your professor to let them know you sought help on a tough assignment. The result? Professors could tack on extra credit. In the Math Lab, you will find friendly faces ready to help with most freshman and sophomore mathematics classes at Kennesaw State. No appointments necessary!

LEARNING COMMUNITIES As a freshman, it can be difficult to meet other students with your major or interest area. Kennesaw State provides a personalized environment for first-year students to co-enroll with 25 other Owls in courses that are linked across a common major or theme. Students enrolled in these programs also have the option of living with these same students as part of University Housing’s NEST Communities.

38

CARE CENTER Homelessness on college campuses is a growing epidemic; Kennesaw State is working to eradicate this issue on our campus. Along with not having a place to live, homeless students struggle to find food and financial means to afford toiletries. Managing all of this while going to school can impact their ability to achieve their educational goals. The Campus Awareness, Resource & Empowerment (CARE) Center is a multifaceted campusbased service designed to offer support to students dealing with homelessness or are at-risk of being homeless.

ADVISING First-Year and Undeclared Advising is a unique gateway to academic opportunities across campus. They specialize in helping students narrow down a potential major while paying attention to the core courses you will need for graduation. Their offices are also integral with connecting you to other academic departments once you select a major.
