Declaration of Independence 1776

Declaration of independence, July 24th 1776

Today was a good day, all of the 13 colonies had agreed to the Declaration of Independence that was thought of by a man named John Adam. Later on people started to agree with John Adam’s idea including Hanry Richard Lee who wrote the document. The document ays that the 13 colonies should be separated from the British and become their own. The British were long gone, so the only thing hat stood in the way of the Declaration of Independence was the colonies themselves.

This wasn't the first time the patriots had tried to convince one another for peace or freedom. The Americans also had tried to negotiate with the British king with another document before called the Olive Branch Petition. The petition would bring peace hroughout Britain. The 13 colonies and Britain wouldn't attack one another. But that didn't work out as planned. But the Americans now had to agree with each other, not their enemy.

Originally when The Declaration of Independence was first brought up, many of the representatives had liked the sound of it. Being ree from the British once again. But there were some colonies that had didn't feel right about this idea and hadn’t agreed. Soon news would spread that John Adam and his group of patriots travelled through Britain spreading the message of freedom and their own ights. On the way, they had persuaded many colonies to join and sign the Declaration of Independence. After days of travelling and preading the message of freedom, John Adam had finally arrived back in Britain with good news. On the date of July 2nd, 12 colonies ame together to sign the Declaration of Independence. All having the same thing on their mind, they signed the Declaration with pride. The only colony that had trouble whether or not to sign the document was New York. But within two weeks, New York’s decision of not to sign the document changed and all 13 colonies had agreed on the Declaration of Independence.

What lies ahead is unknown. But we aren’t expecting the British coming back anytime soon!
