My first cartoon is about child labor as you can see. The big tall guy is symbolizing child labor because in the picture he is hitting the small kids with a stick that is written on child labor, I picked this idea because in this unit we studied a lot about child labor which gave the idea to talk about it. In this cartoon I used symbolism, labeling, and exaggeration. I used labeling at writing on the huge man child labor because he's hitting the children with stick which says on it work and also am labeling the money which says that the guy is rich and he can control all the kids. And I used exaggeration in the drawing the man because the rich men are controlling the small kids and forcing them into child labor. Of course in this cartoon am against child labor even though it was long time ago. Therefor my message is that child labor should be stopped because it's still happening these days and after all they are still small children.

For consequences, I choose the idea that technology is bad as it cause us pollution, I choose to draw on that as I have a few ideas related to drawing that and I also find it a good idea to do it. Also, we waste both our resources into making technology and we are also polluting our environment. The flowers are an example of like an irony, as the plants die.

Consequence: Urbanization costs so much more

This is a cartoon about the consequence of urbanization. When urbanization takes place, there are more money needed and there are more new products made from that money. The message I am trying to convey is that urbanization costs so much more than nonurban areas but there are better products in the urban country. The message in this cartoon has both negative and positive meanings. There are two weight measures and two different kinds of hats on each one of the weight measures. On the bottom, it says "Urbanization costs so much more". On the scale, the one with the tall black hat weighs more and the one with the hay hat weighs a lot less. I chose the weight measure because sometimes in markets, the weight measures decide on the price of a product. This is trying to say that the one with the tall black hat costs a whole lot more. The black hat represents the urban side of the country and the hay hat represents the country side of the country. I have used analysis labeling, symbolism, irony. I have used analysis by putting two different things and comparing them. I have used word and labeled what the picture is trying to represent in order to give the audience a better understanding about the cartoon. I have also used irony by giving a total different weight for the different hats. Usually, all the hats weigh about the same weight; but here, because the hats are symbolism for the urban part of the country and the country side, the hats weigh very differently.

In my consequence political cartoon, the message is, in my opinion, as bright as day. Really, what I tried to convey in this political cartoon, is how many factors in the city, and in industrialization and the Industrial Revolution, affect pollution levels in the city. To do so, I tried adding irony to my political cartoon; I drew a person on a ladder, trying to paint a sun over the dark and ghastly pollution. In this cartoon, the face of the person painting the sun is hidden from view, and no other person can be seen, but by seeing the person trying to paint a sun on pollution, you know that the state of the city and pollution level is drastically high. This cartoon attempts to try and show how people can do nothing about the cascading pollution, and the factories that are creating more and more of it. What else is ironic about this political cartoon is that because this picture would be showing how things were during the industrialization, most people would think that it would show more of the environment. Yet in this picture, the sun is behind pollution, and because of the dense pollution, it has tried to be painted on top. Another point is that there is symbolism in this political cartoon. It is symbolic that the painted is using yellow paint, because yellow would be for the sun, and yet, it is paint, because paint symbolizes the want and need to fix something or renew something; similar to the reasons as to why people paint picket fences and walls again. The factory and pollution, symbolizes a great number of factories, and the pollution symbolizes a great deal more pollutions, and even smog and darkness in the air and atmosphere. It creates a dark mood over the industrial revolution, unable to be conquered by the real sun. Finally, I will help 'shed some light' on how industrialization, and even mechanization, can be thought of as consequences during the industrial revolution. The mechanization would have landlords and owners in more rural areas that work with agriculture, to fire and evict the very large number of farmers and workers. This, in turn, would make the evictees move to the city and towns, in hope of earning jobs to support themselves and their family. In turn, with the great flood of people entering, more factories would open and be built, and this, in turn, accounts for the great increase in air pollution. More factories are needed, but not just for the new commences in the city, but also for other places, like West Africa, to export process goods, in order to fulfill the "trade triangle", and take Africans slaves for raw materials in the Indies and us. This results in profit for the factory owners, while poor people are climbing over each other, trying their best to secure a job and produce income. The pollution is not just a consequence for lack of sight though; it also invades the olfactory, sense of smell. All the air pollution is horrendous for health and with poor people already living in sewers; air pollution is the last thing that would get them better. But not just poor people are doomed by the pollution; rich people are too, because, as human, they all share the air. factory owners, in avertedly, cause more and more pollution, harming themselves, poor people, the environment, animals, and more, just in order to satisfy their greed for more money and power, not caring if the pollution and smog kills thousands.

In this political cartoon, there is a consequence of a greedy capitalist forcing the children who are laboring to work. The message conveyed in the cartoon is that the children laboring are pressured to work and they do works such as carrying objects that are heavier than themselves. In my cartoon, the child labour employer is squishing the children which symbolizes that the capitalist making the children work and giving them pressure. The techniques I used to make my cartoon persuasive to the viewer are symbolism, labeling, exaggeration and irony. For symbolism, I drew a ring on the greedy capitalist to show the richness; that he is a wealthy man. I added the word "Child Labour Employer" to clarify to the viewers that the hand is not a normal person's hand but it’s the greedy capitalist's hand. Definitely the exaggeration technique is the most obvious technique I have used in this political cartoon. I drew the hand way bigger than the children to show the difference between the capitalist and the children's level. There is slight irony in this cartoon too because we will expect the hand will be smaller than our whole body. But the strongest techniques I have used are symbolism, exaggeration and labeling.

The industrialization of countries has led to development in many cities around the world. Factories were put up everywhere and these led the pollution of the environment. With pollution, people get sick , some of them getting serious illnesses and die. Factories released their wastes in the air, water and soil. These include metals, dyes, insecticides and soot, which are the causes of many diseases such as poisoning, burns, asthma, and cancer. The wastes released by the factories contain many substances that cause cancer and now we see many people dying of cancer. Even children are affected, and most of them die of leukemia because of the toxic substance in the environment. The irony of the industrial revolution is that, it has released the Grim Reaper that harms the environment and the people. In this cartoon, I showed the Grim Reaper as causing death to humans. In this cartoon I used symbolism to represent that pollution is the Grim Reaper that kills and make people sick. The Grim reaper is also an exaggeration, as the smoke that comes out of the factories turn out to be the Grim Reaper and causes death.

This cartoon depicts the consequence of child labor, and I express the opinion that it is something that is achieved through the immoral use of trickery and false advertisement. It is a bad thing, and is abusing children's ignorance and inexperience. I express this by symbolizing child labor exploiters as wolves in fairy tales, who are commonly depicted in as the antagonists, and are sly and cunning. I found a picture of a child with the most naïve and ignorant expression possible, which symbolizes how easy it was to trick children into labor. The child labor exploiters lure the children in to work for them, with promises of good careers and great luxuries, however it is all just a façade so they can get cheap labor. This is similar to how the wolf in "Little Red Riding Hood" tricks the child into thinking he is her grandmother, so that he can eat her, which is where the analogy comes in. This is also where the dialogue is based from, making the analogy clearer.

Consequence: Pollution. During the industrial revolution, machines were being employed to do work. These machines were run on steam power, which requires coal to be burnt. Burning coal is very polluting, and as most big cities in Britain had a lot of factories surrounding them, so cities were very polluted. I do not support this very much, as it lowers the quality of life of whoever might be living around the factories, but at the time, steam was the only really effective power source, and the factories had to be close to the workers as there was no fast way of getting around. In the cartoon there is a new factory being opened and an announcer say that the factory will provide a bright future. There is a lot of smoke, and the sun is covered by the pollution. There is a man thinking to himself "bright?." I used irony and exaggeration for this cartoon. I used irony for the smoke in the picture and the line saying "bright?", and I exaggerated the amount of smoke in the picture.

This political cartoon is about the consequences of Industrial Revolution. This consequence is about child laboring. Child laboring is when children have to work to earn money for the family. Child laboring is a consequence of Industrial Revolution because factories owner doesn't want to employ more experienced or better workers, therefore they employed children whose payment are low. The message conveyed in this cartoon is to stop child laboring by showing the negative side of child laboring which is threatening the kid. In this cartoon, you can see the factory owner; the man with luxuries is forcing the kid to work by holding a whip. If the kid doesn't work then he will be whipped. In addition, you can also see that the kid is carrying objects that are heavier than him. I have used exaggeration, labeling and symbolism. I have used exaggeration by exaggerating the heavy objects. I also exaggerated the size of the people, in the picture; the boss is a lot bigger than the kid. I have used labeling by labeling the kg on the heavy objects. In addition, the boss saying "W-O-R-k!'' is also a labeling. Lastly, I have used symbolism by symbolizing the man with luxuries as the boss and a rich man, I also symbolizes the kid as a child laborer. These techniques made the political cartoon more persuasive because I used these techniques in a negative way. For example: exaggeration; by exaggerating the size of the man shows that he have more power and control of the kid.

Consequences:

The political cartoon is showing the consequences of sanitation in the Industrial Revolution. The message that the cartoon conveys is that people are dirtying the water that everyone drinks from (animals, humans‌) and it causes health problem, but since there are no other choice because you can't survive without water because of dehydration, drinking the dirty water at least helps you survive longer. In the cartoon, there is an animal that is "littering" (yellow) some of their insides on the grass. Also, there are dirty things like poo and other garbage (brown colour). Also, the dog is drinking the water from the river and thinking to himself "wonder why the water's always so dirty‌" I chose to draw these things as straightforward, but also sarcastic at the same time. I chose to draw a lot of the brown dirt because it will show that the sanitation has become very bad. Also, I chose to draw the dog going potty on the grass and also saying a very ironic monologue. The techniques that I used for this cartoon is labeling and irony. Usually, the techniques are shown separately, but I have combined these two techniques so that they make an impact on the people. The dog doing his business is making the water and the environment very dirty, but it monologues to itself asking why is the water always dirty? This is the irony in the picture. And this shows that the people/animal don't realize they are making a mistake, but they still do it, and also drink the water that they have made dirty.

The political cartoon above shows a consequence of the Industrial Revolution. In the cartoon, there is a big man in the foreground, and factories in the background. In the middle ground, there is the shadow of the boss/factory owner, with many very young children in the boundary of the shadow. The boss’s face is replaced as the bag of money – since the dollar sign symbolizes money – which means that in his head only money matters. To add, the boss is huge, because it symbolizes the power and size of the adult, and it also then creates a larger shadow. The factories in the background are there to say that the children are labours who have to work in factories and in other environments. The factories support the idea that the boss is a factory owner, who wields a lot of power, and that he makes the children work in order for him to grow. The children are represented as such thin 'figures', because there are countless children that are in poverty and poor condition, suffering from illnesses, malnutrition, and other diseases. The children are drawn, so that they are 'contained' within the shadow, to make it seems as though the children have no way of escaping the shadow, once they are engulfed by it. This is to represent the fact that the children cannot escape out of the work and labour that is forced upon them by their boss and factory owners. The boss in the front is exaggerated greatly, so that a large number of children may be held in the proportionate shadow. The children are drawn as really thin figures to exaggerate the condition and non-well being of the children, as well as the fact that the children are very small and are unable to do anything against the boss, except continue to work in pain. Symbolism is used, as it can be seen that the children are 'residing' in the shadow of the boss. This consequence would show child labour, and the mass amount of 'unfair' power that factory owners and the 'owners' of children have. The opinion conveyed to people who will see this political cartoon, is that I oppose the idea of using child labour, and for the boss to have such a hold over the children. No one should hold such an immense amount of power over children. The opposition is made here, because in my opinion, child labour should not be a part of a society that is trying to advance itself in the fastest way possible, only because of the greedy, money, and power hungry factory owners and rich people. This cartoon conveys the message of how the large work load of working and labouring in the factory, has changed from not being only put onto the adults of the poor and lower-class, but also the young, poor children and orphans as well.

In the political cartoon that I have created it says that one consequence of the Industrial Revolution is poverty and rich people getting richer while poor people get even poorer. This is because as rich people like factory owners get richer, they buy new machines. This means that the workers are no longer needed so they are sacked and therefore don't have jobs which makes them get even poorer than they already were before. The message that is being conveyed in this cartoon is that due to Industrial Revolution and mechanization the rich factory owners get richer and the poor workers who live in poverty get poorer. My opinion about this is that it is unfair that the rich get richer while the poor get poorer. In the cartoon you can see a rather old and fat factory owner on the left side sitting on a chair with a sun above his head saying, "More and more money coming in everyday, living the good life!". I chose an old factory owner because during the Industrial Revolution they were usually the ones that were rich. I chose to put a sun in the top left corner because the sun means that the factory owner has a bright future. On the right side you can see a man who is dressed in clothes that are ripped and also has messy hair. He is pointing at bread that already has a bite out of it but he is saying, "Look, bread on the road! It’s my lucky day!". Instead of a sun over his head there is a cloud which means that the man's future is dull and he isn't living very nicely. In this cartoon I have used three techniques, Irony, symbolism and labeling. It is ironic how the old factory owner is enjoying life while the poor man is struggling for life and will eat bread off of the ground to survive. The sun in the picture symbolizes a good and enjoyable life with a bright future while the clouds represent the miserable life with a dull future ahead of them.

In this cartoon, I tried to show how the children felt during the industrial revolution. It is a consequence because it shows how the employer feels in the middle of the picture making it the main point in the picture. However the man's hands are hovering over little children who seem sad and desperate to live a better life, this is how they felt about their jobs as workers in a factory living in unhealthy conditions. The opinion I tried to pass to the viewer was that the consequence of the man being rich has side effects, such as children feeling bad and not having a good childhood. In this cartoon the viewer sees a man with a top hat, which could symbolize luxury, with tentacles hovering over crying children in scrappy clothes. The tentacles could symbolize the relationship the employer had with the working children. Maybe the rich employer didn't realize the harm he was causing to the children without having lived a healthy childhood, going to school and having fun with friends. This cartoon uses two main techniques to persuade the viewer to think about the cartoon they are looking at. These two techniques are: Labeling and exaggeration. On the top of the picture, in bold black letters I wrote "CHILD LABOUR!!" to really show the sadness it caused. I used a dark red picture to symbolize hard work (the labor), the heat (the chimneys they had to clean), the pain and blood (the injuries that occurred everyday in the factories). These are harsh subjects but if the viewer has a thought about it I think it could change someone's mind. The tentacles are an exaggeration and a symbol of the link and relationship the rich employers had with the children. I think this cartoon has a very strong message but I think that it could change someone's mind about child labour and the industrial revolution.

This political cartoon is about one of the consequences of creating factories which is pollution. Because Great Britain industrialized and more people went to urban areas more jobs needed to be given to people. Not only were factories built because of this, but factories were also built because Great Britain was modernizing and production increased. The message conveyed is that factories obviously cause a lot of pollution and the quote "we saw this coming" sends a message that people should think twice before they do something. This cartoon is supposed to convey the message negatively because of the pollution people cannot do things like being able to see each other; this is exaggerated. There are factories in the bottom left corner which blow a lot of pollution up into sky, blocking people from being able to see. In the top left corner there is a date which signifies that this is about the Industrial Revolution; since there are a lot more factories all around the world today. At first, I thought I could convey the message without the date (only using factories to signify the industrial revolution) but this was it was not clear that it is about the industrial revolution. All the eyes signify individual people who are affected by the pollution and 'cannot see each other anymore'. I used eyes instead of full people because this exaggerates what I want to convey and looks more aesthetically pleasing. Techniques I used were exaggeration, labeling, irony and symbolism. The smoke is exaggerated because people can often still see through pollution. All the eyes (people) are saying "we saw this coming" meaning this is a label. There is a date in the top corner too. This makes my message and political cartoon clearer. The quote makes my message clearer and the date makes it clear to the person viewing my cartoon that this is about the industrial revolution. My political cartoon is ironic because if people were able to ‘see this coming’ people might not have industrialized Great Britain this quickly, or they might have used different equipment for modernization. The date and the factories symbolize the industrial revolution, the eyes symbolize the people affected by pollution, modernization or industrialization and the pollution simply symbolizes pollution and a consequence of industrialization through factories.

This political cartoon shows one of the negative consequences of the Industrial Revolution. This is a consequence of the Industrial Revolution because the there are lots of people that is suffered from poverty. This political cartoon is trying to convey that many people are weighed down because of poverty. This cartoon shows a person that is being crushed by three sacks that are labeled poverty. The message is that though the industrial revolution was regarded as a big step forward for society, it is actually not beneficial to the poor. The poor people are pushed from their homes and forced to work in mills and live in urbanized cities which as poor in hygiene. Because of the improvement in technology people did not require hard labor and so many lost their jobs. This cause a big gap in society and the farmers and laborers had to pay for it. This cartoon is simple; it shows a man crushed the by bags labels poverty. The bags represent the mass production of products which lead to poverty and unemployment. These bags are crushing the man or the farmer because it is the common people who are negatively affected by this change. The two techniques that were used in this political cartoon are symbolism (the bags symbolizes the products of the industrial revolution) and labels (the labels let the audience know what is crushing the man). These techniques help the viewer’s understand what the bags represent.

This is a negative consequence of the Industrial Revolution. The message of this cartoon is trying to convey is to make everyone equally the same. This is a consequence because due to the development of the industrial revolution, the gap between the rich and poor people increases. This is because of the rich people's greediness (owner of the factory). They made the workers work long hours, however, the payment is very little. The message here is that all humans are inherently self - interested and materialistic, these traits are products of social conditioning. On this view, individuals act selfishly and competitively. This is not because it is their nature to do so, but rather because they are encouraged and rewarded for such behavior. This led to larger gap between the rich and the poor. A border line could be seen in the middle of the picture showing the gap between the rich and the poor. A poor man could be seen on the right hand side of the cartoon. He is running on the spinning wheel trying to reach out for the rich side to escape from poverty. However, the man is running inside the spinning wheel. Therefore, it is impossible for the man to reach out what he wanted. The spinning wheel is a metaphor for doing hard work in the factory but the payment of the factory is low. This means that it is almost impossible for the man to be rich. A factory could be seen in the background of the photo helping the viewers to realize that the man is worker from a factory. In contrast, the left side of the photo - which is on the left side of the border line, a fat man and money could be seen everywhere even in his clothes. A quote is placed next to the fat man that says "Keep running! You're nearly there" is an encouragement for the worker to work more. This is just for the owner's greediness of wanting more money even though he already has more than enough. This quote also shows how ruthless the owner is. In order to make the cartoon persuasive to the viewer, exaggeration, symbolism and labeling are used in the photo. The use of exaggeration is to make the rich man owner of the factory bigger than the worker. This is to show and emphasize the rich man's power. There is also exaggeration in the man's money - how money could be seen everywhere even in the man's clothes. Symbolism is used to demonstrate the spinning wheel and the factory in the background. The use of labeling could be seen in quotes and text on the photo - rich, poverty.

The Consequences Cartoon (Trapped): The consequence I have chosen to draw is about Child Labor. Due to the fact that many rural families have moved to the city (from lack of employment in the farms), the jobs offered in factories are slowly becoming more unavailable, therefore families have to compete for jobs. Starving families who have adults that can't get into jobs have no choice but to have their children be the breadwinners of the family, this forces the children to work for long hours in factories are grueling conditions much like the other adults. We can see a hand on the top of the page that says 'Factory Owners' on the sleeve, which is holding a cage. The cage is composed of words 'Child Labor' and has a little boy in it. Outside the cage is symbolism for family, toys and education. I chose these symbols to describe how child labor separates the boy from all the things a child needs. I exaggerated the size of the hand (the symbolism for factory owners), showing the power that the factory owners have over the children - how much they can manipulate and exploit the children - I used labeling to clarify the fact that the manipulating hand carrying the cage is the symbolism for factory owners. The sad and vulnerable boy is in the cage made from Child Labor signs, showing that child labor is isolating him from his family, his friends - his childhood. This is why I have chosen to illustrate the different things that make up a child's childhood outside the cage: Recreation, family and education - to show how the child is missing out - or banned from all these opportunities in their years of youth. The main message I want to convey from this cartoon is child labor bans children from having a childhood.

This cartoon is about urbanization, and it is a consequence of Industrial Revolution. Urbanization is the growth of a city. This cartoon is showing the population growth of cities. There are only two types of animal in this cartoon, horses and ants. Horses are almost always running, and they are very fast. Ants are the hard working type of animal. The horses symbolized for the fast rate of migration from rural areas to the cities. Horses, when running, like running away from something, they can be very chaotic and will run everywhere. This symbolize that with the fast rate of migration, things will get chaotic in the cities and there could be little to none controls. The ants symbolized hard workers in the cities. The cities are filled with factories and laborers. Even though people expects better jobs and facilities in the cities, they still have to work every hard just like ants to make a living. Other from symbolism, I used labeling in this cartoon. I labeled "City: Turn Right". The scene in the cartoon looks very nice like a decent city, but things are not always like it seems. On the inside of the city, things can be very different from the outside. Migrating to the cities can be a good thing, but with a fast rate of urbanization, things will get out of control. The facilities will run out quickly, job opportunities will run out. I don't oppose much to urbanization, but with things going fast then it's not as much of a good thing. Urbanization is caused by a lot of things. Due to Enclosure Act, there are less land and job for poor farmers. With no jobs, they had no other choice but to go to the city, causing Urbanization. People also follow their neighbors and would go to the city with their mates. They also heard about opportunities and think that cities are better than rural areas, with better facilities, so they would start migrating to the city.

This political cartoon is about the consequences of the industrial revolution. Specifically, this cartoon is about the smog that was caused by all the air pollution that was coming from the factories that required burning things and the use of chimneys. It is also saying that people were oblivious to the danger that the smog posed because they continue living normally despite the warnings that they were given. The message that is being conveyed in this cartoon is that even though there was smog in the city at all times people still lived their lives completely normally even though the fog posed a serious risk to their health; it is also that because of the industrial revolution cities became incredibly crowded, dirty and polluted because of the large number of factories that started up when the industrial revolution began. This can be seen because the outside of the factory in the cartoon is totally covered in smog even though it is the middle of the day. In my cartoon there is a factory in the right of the frame, the factory has two chimneys sticking out of the top which are spewing copious amounts of smoke into the air, so much so that the air is completely filled with smoke and cannot be seen through. The sun, which is in the top left corner is almost useless in penetration through the smog which is making the city incredibly dark. There is an ironic warning written on the side of the factory which says "mind the smog" even though the factory is producing the smog itself. There is someone inside the factory shouting to everyone that it is lunch time, which tells people that it is in fact the middle of the day and should not be dark like it is. In the cartoon above there is exaggeration, labeling, irony. The exaggeration can be seen in the smog because as thick as it was, it didn’t actually make it impossible to see, even though visibility was terribly and it was very dark it wasn’t as bad as it is depicted above. Labeling can be seen on the top of the factory, it is simply telling people that the building is a factory. The irony which is portrayed in the cartoon above is very simple, on the side of the factory there is a warning that says "mind the smog" this is very ironic because the factory is telling people that they should avoid the smog even if the factory themselves is producing it.

Pollution is a consequence of the Industrial Revolution. Factories emit a lot of smoke coming from the big quantities of coal burned to make the machines move and this caused a lot of pollution. There were very little jobs available in the countryside and therefore, people had to move to the urban areas and work on factories. The continuous flow of people moving from the countryside to the cities and the search of benefits and increase of production resulted in more and more pollution. In the picture I want to show that due to urbanization and the great number of factories in Great Britain the pollution was very intense. I am trying to transmit the idea that pollution is affecting the country, the environment and the citizens. In this cartoon Great Britain is coming out of the pipe reflecting a country which is extremely polluted as a consequence of the Industrial Revolution. Great Britain is very angry because of that and shows this through the angry face. All the smoke is affecting the environment and the people living in it. The contamination in the air is causing a lot of diseases and deaths in England. There were also a lot of huge fogs caused by the extreme pollution from factories and the coal burned to heat which killed thousands of people. However, it took a lot of time and fog to make people realize that something had to be done. I do not support pollution because it is a very dangerous matter that has affected the world since the industrial revolution. It has negative effects on nature and general health. The two techniques I have used are analogy and symbolism. This cartoon is analogy because a pipe and Great Britain are not really related. However, they are both connected because they emit smoke and cause negative effects on people's health. When people smoke their lungs are damaged and this also happens when there is pollution. This is symbolism because the smoke clouds represent all the smoke produced by the factories in all the country. The factories drawn in the picture are very small but represent huge changes in the landscape of Great Britain. The factories lead to many problems not only pollution but also for example child labor and violent social clashes. The angry face is also a symbol because it represents the unhappiness of the citizens, the environment and the country in general with the effects of pollution.

This comic shows the consequence of Agriculture Revolution. This comic is mainly about the enclosure act and how that affected farmers. The message that is conveyed in this comic is that now farms are being owned by rich people so there are fewer farmers with jobs. Many farmers are losing their job so they are not able to earn money for their living. You can see in my comic that the person on the top which is the owner of the farm. The people on the bottom are the farmers who lost their jobs. I chose these things because I thought this is a very good example for the consequence of Agriculture Revolution. The two techniques I used for this comic was exaggeration and symbolism. I used exaggeration by making the farm owners big and the farmers small. I did this because I wanted to show that farmers are getting useless and the farm owners are getting richer and more powerful. I used symbolism by putting pictures in the comic that symbolize something. The man on the top symbolizes the farm owner and the people on the bottom symbolize the farmers who lost their jobs.

In this cartoon I'm discussing about urbanization which is a consequences of the Industrial revolution. The message I'm conveying is here is the situations and background of the farmers in the rural area. Since the beginning of the Enclosure Act and even mechanization then farmers and artisan have been losing the jobs and daily incomes. This causes them to move to the city where they could get a job and even a better living condition. In the cartoon the rural area is labeled with the push factor that forces the farmers to move. And the city is labeled with the pull factor and is literally pulling the farmer. I used the labeling techniques to show the pull and push factors that forces the farmer to move to urbanize area. I even emphasize on the idea of the pull factor literally pulling the farmers. I used symbolism on the labeled part where the factory represent jobs and the roads and the canals represent modernization. Even the farmers and the rural part looks poor and weak to represent the hardship of farmers.

Captured Freedom This political cartoon is the consequence, specifically child labour during the Industrial Revolution. It shows how the children feel and what they dream off, but there is something stopping and holding them back. In this cartoon there is a silhouette of a little girl - a child labourer. Her leg is chained, and there is a big lock that is keeping her in the 'dark' side of the cartoon. The eyes that you can see are evil eyes. They are watching her, and making sure that she does what she is told; it is like they own her. The child is reaching her hand out; she is reaching out to the brighter side, like the brighter future where she cannot be. There is a bird there; a freedom bird. I tried to use cartoon techniques to show the viewer the opinion about the child labourer, not my opinion but what they would be feel like in the Industrial Revolution. In this cartoon I use symbolism and exaggeration. There is a lot of symbolism the first one is the bird - the bird represents the freedom that she dreams of. The other symbolism is the shades. It is a fairly obvious because it shows the dark evil side, and the bright side. I use this symbolism because it shows a contrast between dreaming and reality. The next symbol is the evil eyes. These are also exaggerated in size. They look evil and angry- like the eyes of the man that she works for. He is strict and harsh, and is always watching her because he owns her. Then comes in the exaggerated lock. I drew this lock big because it shows the power that the eyes have against her, she can’t escape while the eyes are still watching her, even though she longs too. She is locked to that side and can only dream of freedom.

Consequence: Child Labor I chose child labor for consequence of Industrial Revolution in this political cartoon. The opinion in the cartoon is opposing to child labor and sending a message that children working places have layers. Layers those are bad when it goes in deeper. In the political cartoon, the viewers can see that the background is an industry and many people are tired. The factory owner leads a poor child to his industry which seems to be the road to labor. The poor child is shown by looking at her worn out clothes and the factory owner behind who has vicious face looking at the child and inciting the child to go in. I chose the evil face on the factory owner as I am showing opposing opinion in my political cartoon. I wrote road to labor and tired on the people who are working in the industry to show child labor. The background seems to be a good place to work at so, I made an industry huge with good looking. I used more than two techniques to make my cartoon persuasive to the viewer. I used exaggeration, labeling, and irony. We can find exaggeration in the huge good looking background and the factory owner’s big head. As I said above, I made the good looking background to use it as a tool for irony and the huge head shows the power compared to the size of the child in front of him. Labeling is shown above the political cartoon, 'An Efficient Job for All Children! KIDS, COME & ENJOY YOUR JOB’ and 'Road to Labor, Tired is also shown on the political cartoon. I used irony as my main techniques as the sentence above says it is an efficient job and a job which children can enjoy. Also the child going to the Road to Labor also looks glad but, when looking inside the industry, we can see people who are tired. This shows that the job in the industry is actually hard and the factory owner is just saying that it isn't to children so, he can earn more money.

Consequences This cartoon is the consequence of the Industrial Revolution. An old man is smoking a pipe and there is Earth on top of the smoke. The old man is symbolizing the factory owners. I used labeling on the pipe saying that the pipe is meaning the factories during the Industrial Revolution. The smoke is the smoke, pollution caused by the factories and the Earth is covered by this smoke. I am trying to say that the factories are polluting the earth and the smoke is forming a layer in the atmosphere, causing the Earth to be sick.

The consequence of the industrial Revolution I expressed in this cartoon is class division. The Industrial Revolution gave rise to a new kind of social division -- classes came to be defined by money! And inequality between the classes intensified -- before it was god or status, but in the new time, status doesn't mean anything, so people became equal, but money created a new kind of division. I am opposed to class division. Class division is the sign of inequality. 1 percent of few rich people possess most of the money, power and good life, while the 99 percent can barely make a living. I wanted to convey the idea how class division is unfair and inhuman, how irreconcilable the difference. In the cartoon, the balance is measuring two different classes: 1 percent rich, against 99 percent of working people. But the balance is not measuring the weight. It is measuring the weight of money, power and living condition. Although there is more people on the right-side, the one percent of rich men has more money, power and better living condition. I chose the balance, because the balance is useful instrument that people use to compare the weight of two objects. And I put one rich man against masses of people on the right, to express the idea of 1 percent and 99 percent. There are four techniques used in this cartoon: symbolism, exaggeration, irony and labeling. The man on the left-side symbolizes the new dominant capitalist class, and the people on the right symbolize the masses of faceless working people who produce the goods for the good of all the people. The exaggeration is found in the size difference. The one man on the left is larger than people on the right. This difference in size also represents the idea that the man on the left is more powerful. I used the labeling to help viewers to understand what each person or group represents and what the balance is measuring. The cartoon also speaks irony. Usually people expect that the group of people weigh more than just one man, but the man's weight is heavier than the group of people. I used irony to show inequality.

Jonas – Consequences - 1

http://www.funnytimes.com/playground/#.Tw_Li29OCAg

This cartoon focuses on the economic classes that appeared through the Industrial Revolution. While some people grew and prospered, as advertised in the first cartoon, others went downhill very quickly, and ended up even poorer that beforehand. This cartoon gives a clear contrast between these two classes, both with literal and with deeper meanings. The lower part of the image is covered in garbage, oil leaks, and other items with little desirability. This represents the less fortunate, ‘weak’ people who don't have much of a chance of improvement. The factory to the left is obviously supposed to represent the successful groups during that time, those who become richer daily. These can be symbolized as the 'stronger' people. The factory in the top right has a slightly deeper meaning to it, symbolizing the effort it takes to survive the 'storm' and stay on top of the food chain, so to speak. This cartoon has some clear examples of symbolism, such as the storm I just mentioned, as well as some irony, using the Darwinian view of the survival of the strongest to clarify this class system. There is also some labeling to be found, as well as some slight exaggeration. This cartoon brings forth a very mixed message. It both shows the unfairness of the Industrial Revolution, while also encouraging people to stay among the 'Strongest' and survive.

"The Promise Land"

This cartoon is about urbanization; more specifically about the increase in pay that workers were offered at factory jobs in contrast to farming jobs in rural areas. The opinion conveyed in this cartoon is that despite the raise in pay, workers were still underpaid and struggled to make enough money to survive. This cartoon displays how much hope workers had when they moved to urban areas; they would have expected a clean, modern city where they would live a much easier life than before but realised when they started their jobs that this was not going to be the case. The focuses of my cartoon are the two thin men who have just started working at the factories and are getting excited about their pay. There are dirty factories with clouds of smoke pouring out of them in the background. The techniques that are used in this cartoon are irony and exaggeration. Irony is used because the men talk about how much more money they are getting paid than in the farming jobs but when one of the men says "I can afford lunch now!" it is the opposite of what someone would expect to say when they get more money; most people would be thinking about a treat that they would buy for themselves but these underpaid workers were thinking about necessities that they could not afford before. Something else that is ironic in my cartoon is the comment about how urban areas are supposed to be modern, clean and advanced but the dirty and polluted image of the urban factories contradicts this statement. I chose to exaggerate the figures of the workers to show the audience how thin and sickly factory workers were as a result of their underpayment; it shows that they cannot even afford necessities such as food. Their clothes are also very ill-fitting and dirty which shows that these workers probably would have bought or were give these clothes secondhand or even third-hand because they could not afford new ones.

The consequence that is being displayed in my picture is pollution, which is a consequence of Urbanization. The message that is conveyed in this cartoon is that pollution is a bad thing, and if we continue to live the way we live now, with no thinking about earth and the possible consequences that we have on it, the pollution level will continue to rise. In this cartoon, there is a text saying 'STOP POLLUTION', although it is difficult to read because it is covered with smoke. I have used irony and exaggeration in this picture to make my cartoon more persuasive to the viewer. I used irony because the text says 'STOP POLLUTION', however it is hard to read because of all the pollution that is covering and surrounding the text. This is ironic because it is happening in the opposite way to what is expected. I used exaggeration by putting a lot of smoke and pollution around the text. This stands out and is persuasive to the viewer because it highlights the issue and makes it look like a very urgent and serious issue.

Political Cartoon (Consequence of Industrial Revolution)

This cartoon talks about the child labor during Industrial Revolution. The cartoon is saying that the children who are working in factories have to pass so many things to get really little payment. The girl has to pass four crocodiles to get 1 cent for her payment. There are already many people who are eaten by those crocodiles because it is impossible for kid to jump over to the other side that has 1 cent without getting eaten by crocodiles. I have used label, symbolism, and exaggeration. Firstly, I used labels on the crocodiles. Secondly, relating to the labels, the crocodiles mean that those are dangerous things that are threatening the child. Lastly, exaggeration is used with 1 cent.

Is this fair?

This political cartoon is about one of the consequences of the industrial revolution. Because there was so much work to be done in the factories, children were used as labor. They were very useful as they did not cost as much as grownups, they didn't know any other way and therefore did not complain and also, their small hands and fingers were greatly useful when having to work at or fix the machines as they would reach every small part of the machines. The opinion and message which is being conveyed in this cartoon is that the children had a much greater amount of physical work to do than the factory owners and any socially high men. This should not be tolerated. In this cartoon you can see two human beings: a child and a man who is the owner of a factory. The red ball represents the physical workload of each person. The two techniques which I used in this cartoon are symbolism and labeling. The labeling are the different labels for each person to clarify the political cartoon. The second technique is symbolism as I am showing the work load through red balls.

This political cartoon is about the pollution of both air, and water, which is one of many consequences that industrial revolution has created. The water pollution has created much water borne illness, which is deadly if not treated right, while air pollution can also affect our lungs, and create lung diseases and cancer. I have expressed that idea of air and water pollution by drawing the city of London, half of the picture is the Thames River, which is polluted with waste, while the ground level of London is filled with air pollution from factories. In this cartoon the bottom, half of the cartoon is the Thames River, which is known because of the big ben on the upper half of the cartoon. The water of the Thames River is very dull and green with many wastes floating around causing the water pollution, and illness. To comment on the water pollution, there are famous fishes from movies wearing gas mask. Gas mask is to keep the air pollution away from the user, but it is irony that the fishes are using it because there is no air underwater and they are wearing a gas mask. This gas mask addition is just to exaggerate the dirtiness of the water back in industrial revolution. In the upper half of the cartoon, there is the Big Ben, with many other building around it, to the left of the cartoon there are many factories creating air pollution, and we can see that the pollution is coming out of the pipe. I wanted to exaggerate the air pollution, so I decided to paint the buildings black, so it is like silhouettes, and the sky is gray, to comment on the darkness of the pollution, which is covering the whole city. I chose the gas mask fish, because I wanted to create irony, and exaggerate the water pollution. The wastes are to show how the sewer system is bad that the waste is mix with the famous Thames River, and due to lack of water in the industrial revolution, many people have actually used the Thames river water to sanitize even though it is dirty. I chose the Big Ben, so the viewer can work out what the water means, which is the Thames River and to show that the famous city London was polluted in the industrial revolution. In this cartoon, I have used Symbolism, Irony, and Exaggeration. Symbolism is used to symbolize a bigger meaning in this cartoon, the water and air pollution is just to symbolize the disease, and illness that these two types of pollution creates, and how it affects the society daily, like on water drinking, sanitizing, and breathing in pollution, which can cause cancer and disease. Irony has been used on fishes wearing gas mask, first fish don't wear gas mask, second gas mask don't work underwater, because gas mask is to clean the air that we breathe in, but fishes use it underwater where there is no air. Exaggeration has also been used on fishes wearing gas mask, they wear gas mask to exaggerate the fact that the water is too dirty, that they have to wear gas mask even though it does not help to make the water any cleaner. The opinion I have shown in this cartoon is against air/water pollution. Air and water pollution can cause many diseases and affect many people like the cholera which killed 30,000 people in 1831.Even though we have passed those time, but there are still many places in the world like that, where the water is unclean, they have to gather water from a dirty pond and cause many illness to the society. I have shown my negative opinion about air/water pollution by making the color of the cartoon dark and dull, showing that the air/water pollution is bad. In addition I have shown the water pollution by wastes, and the fact that the famous Thames river is also polluted.

Firstly, the first political cartoon that I drew is about the child labor which is one of the important events during the Industrial Revolution which is also the consequences of the industrial revolution. Basically, child labor refers to the employment of children at regular and sustained labor. Secondly, the opinion/message that I conveyed in the cartoon is during the industrial revolution many poor children were hired from many factories. The reason why I conveyed this opinion in the cartoon is during the industrial revolution many poor children’s were trying to earn money to go to school, to buy clothes, food, drinks and to live their life from their works. However, the factories owner hired many poor children’s, gave a lots of works to do but they just gave a small money to the children and yelled at the children’s if they’re not working fast and hard. In conclusion, the opinion/message I convey in the cartoon is during the industrial revolution, many poor children’s were hired from many factories to earn money, to go to school and to live their life even though the factories gave small amounts of money to the children’s for the work and gave a lots of works to do. Thirdly, in my cartoon that I draw, the viewers can see one giant factory owners yell at the poor children’s and under the factory owner, many poor children’s are working really hard to finish their work and to earn money. However, most of the children’s were doing sad face and they look kind of crying during working. The reason why I chose these things in my cartoon is I just wanted to express, drew and show about the situation of the child labor such as why children’s were hired by many factories very specifically and clearly to the viewers. Lastly, to make my cartoon persuasive to the viewers I have used two techniques in my cartoon which are “exaggeration and labeling”. Firstly, I used the exaggeration in the cartoon like draw one big giant factory owner on the top of the cartoon. After draw the factory owner, I drew four tiny poor children’s whose doing child labor with sad faces so I can show that I used exaggeration techniques in my first cartoon for the children’s and factory owner. Therefore, I drew one big like knife that looks like factory owner having the knife on hands when scolding the children’s to show about the exaggeration in my cartoon. Secondly, I used labeling in my cartoon to make my cartoon persuasive to the viewer. The way I used labeling techniques in the cartoon I wrote down “Just do it” for the factory owner so to make factory owner saying “just do your work” to the poor children’s to show about the child labor during industrial revolution very clearly and specifically in my cartoon. Therefore, children’s are also saying “Need to earn money” and “so many works to do”. That the factory owner and children’s talking are showing about the technique of labeling that I used for the cartoon to make it persuasive to the viewer. In conclusion, when I draw this first cartoon I used two techniques which are “labeling and exaggeration” in my cartoon to make my cartoon persuasive to the viewer.

Consequence In this political cartoon, it shows the consequence of the industrial revolution. The industrial revolution is the revolution that modified the way that world produces its goods. Our societies were changed from the agriculture based society to one that industry and manufacturing takes control. In addition to this, widening gap between the rich and the poor is now unable to resist. This causes people to work more, and consume as much as they could. This also happens these days, people are looking for work. The fact that using children for work causes no conflicts or arguments between factory workers, small children are required to work in factories for long periods. Also parents, who are suffering from poverty, are forced to send their small children risky jobs for reasons of survival. Children are exposed to severe injuries at work; this includes general child injuries, sexual abuse, physical abuse, physical neglect, and emotional neglect. For general child injuries, it contains cuts, burns, fractures, dizziness, and fears. Sexual abuses contain rape, prostitution, unwanted pregnancy, abortion and other diseases such as STDs, and AIDS. These sexual abuses happen particularly from girls. Physical abuses contain blaming, and humiliations. Emotional neglect causes when child isn't getting enough love from its family, which results loneliness and hopelessness. Physical neglect causes from lack of provision of food, clothing, medical treatments, and shelter. They should be protected from social, economic, and physical harm, which would affect their whole lifetime. The industrial revolution, was not a good revolution, it causes child labor that can ruin children's life. Workforce is required from developing technological capabilities, which requires more child labor and lead children exposed to danger. My cartoon is showing one old man shooting his arrows to kid that hung up on the tree. The fact that this man is shooting arrows to a kid, shots must be giving a kid, pain. This is a scene that shows how consequence of industrial revolution causes pain for children. The main consequence of industrial revolution comes from capitalism. In addition to this, labor is one of the main things of capitalism. And this is what I'm trying to show through my cartoon. How child labor is hurting children, and what it does to them. I used labeling and symbolism in my cartoon. For labeling, I labeled old man as capitalism, tree as child labor. The fact that a kid is hung up on tree, so this kid is a child labor. I also labeled, abuse, injuries and Negligence on a quiver and arrows. For symbolism, arrows symbolize effects of child labor, and an old man symbolizes capitalism.

For the consequences of the industrial Revolution my political cartoon is about child labor. In my picture you see child's head in a puppet kind of body with strings attach to it. You also see the girl crying and looking sad. Also at the top of the picture you see evil eyes looking down at the girl. The evil eyes represent the rich and big people that are in control of the little girl. In my picture there is analogy. The analogy in this picture is that I tried to show how older evil people try to control kids, so I made her look like a puppet, because it’s like you control her like you can control a puppet. Also in my picture it represents symbolization. It does this with the tears, because the tears symbolize how see is sad. Also the evil eyes at the top is symbolizing, how the older people are haunting her and controlling her. There is also exaggeration in my picture. It shows that with the girl I made her face look like a human but her body looks more like a doll or a puppet, so I exaggerated that.

Political Cartoon 2 - Consequence: Population Frenzy This consequence shown in the political cartoon is about the negative effects of high population in urbanized area, caused by urban migration. There are many pull factors that attract the people and persuade them to move to the city. These factors may range from the access to basic necessities like education and plumbing facilities. When urbanized areas or cities are densely populated, there are many benefits as well as disadvantages. The disadvantages may be the lack of space, such as houses all neatly placed right next to each other in a row. Another disadvantage would be that diseases could spread easily as there are many people coming from different areas; also that the disease could spread quickly through touching or interacting with the other person. There are also people who didn't have an opportunity to acquire a job to survive everyday life because of the availability of the jobs. Some careers may be taken quickly, even if they were uncomfortable and unwanted as everyone needed to make a living out of a stable job. The message that I am trying to convey and express in this cartoon is that the negative effects of large population in urban cities may cause too many problems towards the people who reside at the city. Staying at an environment with many problems is not good, both mentally and physically. The urbanized cities offer a chance to support and improve the lifestyle of people, through many different aspects like providing people with basic education and healthcare. These offers are not always available as the population is increasing rapidly. The offers may only allow a certain number of people, which exclude others from improving their lifestyle to meet a wellbalanced lifestyle. The side-effects of the people may even affect the residents of the city to a certain level that the people would want to migrate to the rural areas. There are currently three different events happening in the picture. Firstly, there is an alien spreading bacterium, infecting everyone close to the area. The woman becomes sick and she starts showing signs of sickness. The teenager wouldn't approach the woman as she can't trust that the woman may not spread the disease; creating a chain of diseases spreading. I chose this event to happen to show the viewer that the dangers of health diseases spreading are very critical as people could catch a fatal disease very easily. The alien actually represents someone that is sick, almost to a state of fatigue. I chose the bacteria because bacteria can be spread very easily, causing diseases through interactions with others. The second event happening is the person lying in a ripped mat. The man is unemployed because all the jobs were taken by other people. I chose this event because I wanted to project what happened to people who aren’t employed, living an unsafe lifestyle. The final event is the giant, saying that there is not enough space, thinking that the town had shrunk. The people are reacting as they were very scared that the giant would stomp on them. I wanted the giant to represent the tight spaces in a highly populated city. When there are many people migrating and being born every day, the city may need to extend the area by building more in the outskirts. If the outskirts reached a limit then the area of the city would become too small, incompatible for the large population. I chose to present the giant to show how one person can make a different towards the space limit of the city; even houses are built close together, in rows. I made the people panic because I wanted to add a humorous element to the event. I used three techniques, exaggeration, analogy and labeling. I exaggerated some of the speeches of the character in the cartoon to convey the importance of the particular event. Grandpa Joe is exaggerating because he thinks the giant would kill everyone and named the giant "the stomper". I wanted the speech to incorporate a humorous element but also the exaggeration, which I successfully have, in my opinion. I used analogy to express the problem of not having enough space to a new direction, comparing the problem to technology. The giant needed more space as she is quite large, tall, while people needed a better tablet with more space for data storage. I wanted to compare and analyze the problem with other factors outside the problem, which in this case is technology. I used labeling to label each event differently, giving each main character of the event with a nickname. I chose the technique to use because I wanted to add humor to my cartoon and also help the audience receive the message being conveyed; understanding the problem better.
