Halloween's Halloweek For such a small nation, the Irish have a lot to answer for. From days of the Hound of Ulster and Irish Myths and Legends which are similar in form and circumstance to many of the Greek variety, through St. Patrick and the banishing of snakes into the sea; the Giant's Causeway and the list goes on and on. Let's face it: when it comes to telling a good yarn, the Irish are as good as any other and when it comes to throwing a party, just look at what goes on worldwide on St. Patrick's Day compared to the other Patron saints. Which bring us nicely around to the ancient festival of Halloween, which starts this weekend in many a pub and club bu licks off in earnest on Monday night, October 31st. It's the only night of the year when the boundaries between the dead and the living, and day and night, disappear, the zombies take to streets (This year look out for the Walking Dead in La Mata), kids go trick or treating and after Christmas, it's the next most lucrative holiday worldwide. Believed to be over 2,000 years old, Halloween - All Hallows' Evening - dates back to the time of the Celts who celebrated the end of summer and the harvest yield on Samhain, the night of October 31. The celebrations were led by Druidic priests who believed it was a time when the souls of the dead could communicate with the living. Even today, around many countries, huge bonfires were lit up and down the land. These were to welcome the friendly spirits of ancestors and ward off those who wished them harm. Getting a little spooky and where the costume part of proceedings comes from, people dressed in animal heads and skins and their priests took the sacred embers from house to house, lighting the hearth fires embers to protect their followers during the long winter ahead. Samhain was also a time for divination and the telling of fortunes. The ritual of bobbing for apples comes from this time, as it was

harvest time and so apples featured widely in these rituals. When bobbing for apples, legend has it that the first person to take a bite would be the first to marry that year. Apple peeling was also thought to indicate how long you would live, depending on the unbroken length of peel. Following the invasion of the Romans in 43 AD, these rituals were incorporated into two festivals - Feralia, which commemorated the dead, and a day devoted to Pomona, the goddess of fruit trees.

But whether or not you believe in lost souls and things that go bump in the night, what better time for a party to lift our own spirits as we head into winter? Going back to St. Patrick's time, the arrival of Christianity saw the church take hold of the Celtic world and convert the pagan festivals into Christian Holy Days. These Holy Days are very important in predominantly Catholic Countries and especially here in Spain, All Hallows' Day, also known as All Saints Day, was originally celebrated on May 13 but Pope Gregory moved the feast to November 1, in the 8th century in a bid to assimilate Samhain with an approved day of the dead. Thus Tuesday will be a Red Day here in Spain.Together, the three festivals the Eve of All Saints, All Saints Day and All Souls Day - became known as Hallowmass, but although a Christian festival, many people continued to practice the ancient pagan customs and traditions.

And coincidentally, it's also time to put the clocks back. Just why and logic of doing this in this day and age is still debated each year but no matter what, at 3:00am on Sunday morning, your digital clock will, as if by magic, wind itself back an hour, giving you an extra hour to recover

But these became increasingly discouraged with the Reformation in the 16th century and following the Gunpowder Plot in 1605, Halloween was effectively shifted to November 5, now known as Bonfire or Guy Fawkes Night, in England although the Celtic practices continued in Scotland and Ireland. Need we mention that Guy Fawkes was also Irish, and so the tradition continues. These beliefs and rituals were brought to America by shiploads of Irish immigrants who fled to the USA to escape the Potato Famine of the mid-1800s. The custom of Trick Or Treating appears to have arisen in the USA in the 1930s when Halloween came to be associated with pranks and jokes. The youngsters Zombie parade takes place from 17:30 till 19:00 from the Constitution Square, Calle Ramon Gallud, MarĂa Parodi, Pedro Lorca, JoaquĂn Chapaprieta, Caballero de Rodas and back to the Constitution Square followed by a Disco from 19:00 till 21:30 on Constitution Square. And then it's the turn of the ageless zombies as they go on their Parade, providing a bit of a Thriller.

Ivie Davies: His Final Putt By Keith Nicol It is with great sadness that we have to report the news of the passing of Ivie Davies: Mr. Golf, on the Costa Blanca and beyond. Ivie formed the first golf society in the region and went on to be Golf's number one ambassador for the region overseeing the organisation of various golf societies and not being a bad player himself. I feel honoured to having been the first person to ever interview him on the Radio, by turning the tables on him, on his golf show on Spectrum FM one Wednesday, and also filming a pilot TV show with him and Ricky Valance for Living In Spain TV. After a short illness, Ivie passed away on Thursday October 20th, having been surrounding by his family during his final week. His funeral on Tuesday was attended by more than 160 friends and family, many wearing with pride their golfing society Polo Shirts, of which Ivie also designed a number of the Logos. His wife Di and family, would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended the funeral, and the 'wake' at AJ'S in El Raso, and for all the cards and condolences received. The following is an extract of an interview Ivie did Anglofileinfo and we Reprint with thanks and permission from their: 'Meet the Angloinfo Expat of the Week #20', Expat of the Week Ivie Davies, from Alicante, Spain November 29, 2012 Captain – Winners Europe 2008 Where is home and where do you live now? Where did you move from? ID: “I live on the Urbanisation El Raso, Guardamar del Segura, Alicante. My wife Diana and I moved to Spain from Reading in Berkshire, England.” How long ago did you move? What made you decide to make the move? ID: “We moved to the Costa Blanca in Spain in 1996. We have known the area since the early 80’s and Spain offered us many more opportunities and a better way of life than suffering the early 90’s recession.” What do you appreciate the most in your new adopted country? ID: “The relaxed life-style and friendly nature of the residents and a more secure way of living. It has given me the opportunity to use my marketing and organisational skills and do things that I never would have been able to do in the UK. It has also meant I have played golf and met and interviewed personalities such as Miguel Angel Jimenez, Graeme

Storm, Richard Boxall, Johann Cruyff, Terry Mancini, Ronnie Whelan, Steve Davis, recording artistes Ricky Valance and Steve Pinell (drummer with ‘Smokie’ – a rock country group.)” How did you make new friends in your new home? ID: “As a result of my involvement in golf – this has provided a good network to socialise and make new friends.”

How often do you go back to your hometown? ID: “We went through a spate of going back frequently in 2007 as my wife donated a kidney to our son, and then in 2009 for a special birthday. But not too often thankfully.” What were the biggest challenges you faced when you moved? ID: “Getting used to the bureaucracy and the nonunderstanding of customer service here.” And the nicest surprises? ID: “Waking up to clear sunshine every morning and being able to leave your front door open. Oh and the efficiency and quality of the health service.” Any tips for beating home sickness? ID: “Not to sit around doing nothing, keep your mind and body active. Most of all don’t look backwards look forward, and don’t count the days make the days count.” How do you occupy your time? Do you have a job? ID: “I do not have a job now, however, when we first came here, I sold and serviced golf buggies for E-ZGO Textron throughout the Costa Blanca and Calida and did this for a few years. I was the Secretary for Torrevieja Golf Society for 9 years, and in 2004 I was asked by the PGA and Matchroom Sports to organise the PGA EuroPro Tour, the Tour Championship Final and I arranged for it to be played at Mosa Trajectum Golf Resort, Murcia. This was repeated at Mar Menor Golf Resort in 2011 when I negotiated for it to be played there, both events featured on Sky Sports.” For nearly five years I presented a twice weekly, hourly golf programme on Spectrum FM and Talk Radio Europe called “Golfers Choice”, at the same time I wrote a golf column for Round Town News “Talk on the Tee”, and now I write a column for The Courier called “Green Side Gossip”. I also presented a radio show

How do you spend your free time (in your adopted place)? ID: “My free time is spent mostly with my wife, although she teaches art and is actively involved with The Red Hat Ladies who raise funds for charities. I also organise golf tournaments and competitions and have successfully captained teams Europe vs. Spain and GB&I vs. Europe, in Ryder Cup style tournaments and Inter Society and Inter League competitions, so free time rarely comes into the equation.” Would you share something embarrassing that happened to you as an expat (but that makes you smile when you look back)? ID: “This happened when I was presenting “Golfers Choice”, the programme went out live on the Wednesday and then I recorded a show for the Friday. The week previously I interviewed a lady professional golfer from Finland, Pia Maria Kouvuranta, who played on the Ladies European Tour at the time. The next week I was recording an interview with a golf club maker and we were talking about types of clubs, when I said, “Last week I was talking with a lady professional who only uses men’s stiff shafts” “The studio was in an uproar.”

Ivie: Husband, Brother, Dad, Granddad, 'Unk' and Friend

The Eulogy by his daughter Kim So we are here to say goodbye to my dad. However dad was not just that, he was something different to everyone and I know we all remember him for lots of different things yet lots of the same things. The stories of him growing up in Broomfield with Tony. A Raggy-ArsedKid he described himself as, who made himself a good life over the years. Not least these last 20 years in Spain. He loved his family very much. Obviously Di, his sidekick, main supporter and of course, Love of his life, Me, Lawrence, Louise, Karen and Terry, then the grandchildren, Adam, Lindsey, James, Lauren, Duane and Lyanne. And even his two great

I think if you ask most of us what we think of when we think of dad it is Holidays, Golf and Socialising. And Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;m not sure we would all put them in the same order. Oh and the horrendous jokes..... Blimey they were bad and if we heard them once, we had heard then 10 times.

remember us getting swept away in France one August, when it decided to rain. Some of us girls were in an awning not attached to the caravan so it just went. Dad was OK though. He was in the caravan completely oblivious to the weather conditions. He wasnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t stupid... Another one was of him running along with Clare and Julie running away from him. And photos of Dad and Lawrence deep sea diving: well I say deep sea diving They had the kit on and were on a beach. None actually in the sea......

When I was looking over old photographs they nearly all involved our holidays. Caravanning everywhere from Swanage to Spain and anywhere in between. I

And loads of all the grandchildren at barbecues in the UK and here in Spain, in restaurants, on the sea front. But never on the beach, For someone who lived in Spain, Dad hated the

grandchildren, Taylor and Emily. Tony, his Brother and Ann and their girls, Clare and Julie. Clare and Julie always called him Unk. Which only sounds right spoken in a Birmingham accent.

sand.... It would mess the car, up he always said, Then whilst looking for things this week on dads computer, all I could find was Golf related things. And of course his pictures of himself with his hero- Miguel Angel Jiminez. That picture took pride of place in his study. And did dad come in for some ribbing over it. I could talk all day about my dad and never tell the same story twice. Unfortunately though, Dad's story has now come to an end and none of us want to close that book. His memory will live on in all of us here today, in our own memories of him and the stories we will hear for years to come. I and all of us love you dad. Always and forever.

The award stays in Ireland but moves north, after The Guinness Storehouse in Dublin taking the award in 2015. Titanic Belfast won the prestigious Europe’s number one attraction award. This year Titanic Belfast came out tops against stiff competition from Acropolis, Athens, Greece, Buckingham Palace, England, Guinness Storehouse, Dublin, La Sagrada Familia, Spain, Ribeira do Porto, Portugal, The Eiffel Tower, France and The Roman Colosseum, Italy. Ray's Rant: Summer of '67

by Ray Kearney I was inspired by the Coastrider's recent article “All You Need Is Love”. This was one of my favourite songs from my youth. The article gave me much information that I did not know before. As a young teenager I was carried away by the simple melody and the awesome message of “Love, Love, Love”. It was truly an anthem to me and many of my friends. I was so disappointed when Procul Harem’s “Whiter Shade of Pale” knocked it off the British number one spot. Even today I am transported back in time and to a favourite place of my youth when I hear the opening notes of this magic piece of music.

Today the effect illegal drugs and the so called “drug culture” have had on our modern society is all too evident. Probably the biggest cause of crime, directly and indirectly is drugs. There is a liberal opinion about for some years to legalise recreational drugs. They argue that it would reduce crime and drug dependency. The evidence from tobacco and alcohol use does not back up this argument. True, the gangland style criminal distribution would become redundant, but the everyday use and dependency on recreational drugs would reach epidemic proportions as it would become normal and “everybody is doing it”.

In that summer of 1967, I turned 14, and like many other teenagers, music played a very big part in my life. I loved the Beatles and many other artists of the day. The Flower Power Movement that begun that year was so liberating to our minds and our hearts, young people started breaking the shackles of church and social norms. In that summer it was OK to start thinking about and exploring sex without the taboos that normally surrounded it. Drugs too, took on an OK feel; after all, the Beatles, the Stones and “ALL” the older teenagers were using them.

Now, nearly 50 years on, we can plainly see the moral destruction that followed that sweet “Summer of Love”. To me, this seems to be the pivotal point between the backward attitudes and behaviours of the 50’s era and to the moral degeneration of today. The pendulum that was stuck in an intolerant stunted prudish era was abruptly released and swung with

unstoppable force into modern times. Traditional values of marriage are now almost totally ignored or forgotten. We shrug our shoulders at lifestyles we once abhorred. The only “no-no” in the sexual arena now is paedophilia, but I wonder how long will it take before even this is accepted. Liberals will argue that children are more mature today, and that millennia ago it was normal for 10 year olds to be married, and they will say that in Palestine TODAY 8-year olds are getting married to men in their late 20s and 30s. What can stop this moral pendulum? What can bring us back to middle ground? Can governments? Can churches? No. People power was what released the pendulum a half century ago; people like you and I can stop the swing to total degradation. We as individuals can set ourselves standards to bring us to middle ground where we can escape political correctness, moral depravation and addiction and find normality and happiness. Thrilling Facts About 'Thriller' By Keith Nicol There are not too many specific points in time that I can pinpoint exactly where I was, that were not personal events. The death of Elvis, Tommy Copper live on stage and Princess Diana come to mind: Manchester United winning the European Cup in 1968 and 1999: England winning the World Cup in 1966 and a few others. Musically, apart from Elvis 1968 Comeback Special and Relax from Frankie goes to Hollywood; it has to be Thriller. It was December 2nd, 1983 and for weeks that date had been in the diary as the fledging broadcaster MTV's first major premier event since starting on Cable TV on August 1st 1981, was a real guilty pleasure for most of us. That night I was sitting comfortably in the living room of Hilda and Lemuel Keith, in Knoxville, Tennessee along with their Daughter Debbie, who was sister to actor David Keith (An Officer And A Gentleman) and country and western singer Teresa Williams. We dimmed the lights, sat back, turned up the volume and for the next 14 minutes watched the Music Video that would forever change the way that future videos would be produced. It was played a number of times during the evening and we just watched it and watched it until it was time for bed.

Before songwriter Rod Temperton came up with "Thriller," Michael Jackson's working title for the album was Starlight. Temperton, a British native formerly of the funk band Heatwave, also wrote "Baby Be Mine" and "The Lady in My Life" for Thriller (and earlier, had penned "Rock with You" and "Off the Wall" for Jackson). "In adolescence, youngsters begin to grow hair in unexpected places and parts of their anatomy swell and grow," director John Landis explained,

Jackson wore the jacket in the scene where a group of zombies rise from their graves and break into a dance routine.

Director John Landis (The Blues Brothers, An American Werewolf in London) extended the track — the seventh and final single released from the Thriller album — into a nearly 14-minute-long musical horror film, letting Michael indulge his monster-movie fantasies. Spooky Song Sing-along By Keith Nicol It's Halloweek, as Halloween murfs into Guy Fawkes Night and with it an opportunity to sing and dance along to any number of guilty pleasures. Need some music for your Halloween Party or to put into your iPod? Here are a few songs that you may wish to add to your spooky playlist this Halloween. And so in no particular order, after Thriller of course, here's a few choices for a memorable weekend that stretches through the weekend. Back Stage with Shani Ormiston Q. Who are you and what do you do? I am a singer and songwriter who loves to sing and write songs; and there is nothing more I like than to see people enjoy themselves with my music. I sing a wide range of genres, but have great satisfaction when I sing one of my own compositions and have a positive reaction from the audience. A tremendous experience.

Q. How did you start in the business? I have always loved singing and dancing since I was a child, though It wasn’t until I was around 21 years old when I realised that there was a gap in my life, there was something missing, and started to think in what I would really like to do with my life so I started as a hobby to take singing lessons. One day I read an advert in a local paper, with an audition for singers to give their voice and time for a charity cd, so I decided to go, they picked me amongst other artists, and since then it has been a non-stop.

Q. What would you be doing if you were not an entertainer? Music forms part of my life and I think it’s a vital organ I need. I would not like to do anything else, though If I have to and could choose, It would definitely be something related to “creativity”. Q. As an entertainer who has been your biggest influence? Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey have probably been my influences. I admire them both so much, Whitney had a unique sound and a perfect singing technique, and from Mariah I love her song writing ability. Q. Do you ever get nervous or have you suffered stage fright? Yes, I always get nervous, but I think that is good, it shows “respect” for what you do - in a certain way. I suffered a lot of panic attacks and was afraid to sing on a stage, that’s why I didn’t start until I was around 21. I would have never thought that I was capable to do what I am doing now, being able to sing on stage, or in a theatre, at a wedding or wherever. Q. What was your best moment? I have so many good memories of so many different moments small and big, but I remember like yesterday the first time I got airplay in 40 PRINCIPALES - Spain biggest National Radio Station. I couldn’t believe they were playing my songs, suddenly my phone started to ring and all my friends where calling me to tell me I was on the radio!!!! It was very exciting!! Then there is always a thrill when I put together a CD of my own music

and organise a presentation show with a mix of dancing styles, classical musicians or just an acoustic guitar. It’s not just singing or composing, it’s a whole package. Q. What has been your worst moment? I couldn´t choose one single moment. I can say that I have shed so many tears though and felt like giving in 1000 times; though it only makes you stronger and helps you to grow as an artist and a person. Q. What’s the best piece of advice you would give someone starting out in the business? To be yourself, and don’t do what others expect you to be. Live the present and enjoy each and every moment music gives you, as if there was no tomorrow. Q. Any little anecdotes or interesting stories? I have been delighted to be nominated for awards and even won competitions with my own musical compositions. This has taken me to other countries such as Italy (where I represented Spain where I live), or to Hollywood, California for other Indie music awards, and to Belgium to a record label. Tell us about yourselves My name is Ian and I own and manage the New Tavern. We are a bar/restaurant in the centre of San Miguel. I have been here 4 years and previously spent 6 years doing a variety of jobs here in Spain. What made you open a bar? I was working here along with my wife and daughter and one day the previous owner just decided to up and leave with virtually no word to anyone. We took it over initially on a temporary basis to keep it going. Shortly afterwards the opportunity came along to buy it and so we did. Originally we ran it as a family but these days it is just me. Fortunately however I have excellent staff around me.

Where did the inspiration for the name come from? Before coming here I worked at another bar called ‘The Tavern.’ I liked the name so this became ‘The New Tavern.’ Who does the cooking? And how would you describe your style? My chef is Donna. She cooks mainly traditional English food as most of our customers are from the UK. Fortunately our Spanish regulars have developed a taste for it as well. We have weekly steak nights with ‘meal-deal’ offers, for which we normally put on live entertainment. A very

What’s your favourite dish on the menu? I love Donna’s Sunday carvery. You have a choice from 4 meats and 7 vegetables. All this plus a drink for only €7.50 by the way. The courtesy bus service is in operation for this as well. Favourite day of the week? I have to say Sunday as I get a chance to enjoy the carvery, which is normally from 1.00 until 4.00. It is also the only day that we normally close early so I can look forward to a breather. Any interesting tales? We have a team here that competes in the local pool league. We had an away fixture against another bar and off they went in the minibus

to play them. About 20 minutes after they left I received a frantic phone call to say that they had been stopped by the Guardia, who were obviously on high alert, forced off the bus and searched at gunpoint. They were allowed to continue once it was apparent that they weren’t the ones they were looking for. Very traumatic for them at the time of course but so funny looking back. We still joke about how the opposition must have been really desperate to beat us if they had to resort to such extreme measures! Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters

By Keith Nicol Staying with the Halloween theme this week, there are but a few motors out there that are associated with October 31st. Of course we have Batman, Christine and Ghostrider plus a few others but possibly the most famous of all is the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 from the 1984 American supernatural comedy film. Ghostbusters was written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis and stars Bill Murray, Aykroyd and Ramis as three eccentric parapsychologists who start a ghost-catching business in New York City. Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis co-star as a client and her neighbour, and Ernie Hudson as the Ghostbusters' first recruit. The film grossed $242 million in the United States and more than $295 million worldwide, was nominated for two Oscars at the 57th Academy Awards for Best Visual Effects and Best Original Song (for the eponymous theme song), but lost to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and The Woman in Red respectively. The film launched the

The vehicle used for the Ecto-1 was a 1959 Cadillac. It became a well-recognized symbol for the Ghostbusters franchise. The vehicle had enough room in it to store Proton Packs for all of the crew, along with Ecto Goggles, P.K.E. Meters, and a slew of Traps.

Ghostbusters media franchise, which includes a 1989 sequel, Ghostbusters II, two animated television series, The Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters and several video games. A reboot, also titled Ghostbusters, was released on July 15, 2016, by Columbia Pictures. The intrepid Ghostbusters vehicle of choice was the Ecto-1, which they used to travel throughout New York City busting ghosts and other entities.

Stephen Dane, credited as a Hardware Consultant, was the fabricator of the original Ectomobile. On October 5, 1983, Dane started working on Ecto-1. After about two weeks, the paint job and details were blocked out. The prop makers also repaired the ambulance to driving condition, cleaned the interior, and installed equipment. By the time it shipped on October 19, the ambulance was about half-done. In previous drafts of the first movie, Ecto-1 was originally to be a 1975 Cadillac ambulance bought for only $600 but by the time the final script was written, the price had escalated to $1400 for an even older 1959 model. During filming, inflation increased the cost to $4800. Dan Aykroyd's original Ecto-1 was an allblack, rather sinister-looking machine with flashing white and purple strobe lights that gave it a strange, ultraviolet aura. While going through the script, the cinematographer Laszlo Kovacs first pointed out the black design would be a problem since part of the movie would be shot at night. In Ghostbusters II, Ecto-1 was backfiring and spewing smoke. This was not done by special effects as the Cadillac truly was in a poor state of repair. It finally "died" on the Brooklyn Bridge. The NYPD fined the filmmakers because the Brooklyn Bridge does not have breakdown lanes and Ecto-1 was blocking traffic. Before Ghostbusters: The Video Game was released, the original (and now rusty and literally falling apart) Ecto-1 was restored to promote the game. Dan Aykroyd was shocked at the high quality of the restoration. There had been 3 Miller-Meteor Ambulances to portray the 2 vehicles, the pre-Ecto-1 which was never transformed, Ecto-1 which was originally a gold ambulance and Ecto-1a.

Why You Need A Spanish Will must be given to your descendants, if you have them. One third of this can be freely deposited to the person or entity of your choice; you can leave it to whomever you wish. Most of the Common Wills granted by expats here in Spain, agree to leave what they own in Spain to their partner, whether they are married or not. This will be enforceable only if the testator included in their last will that the applicable law to the inheritance is their national law. The same law applies to the whole succession, irrespective of either the type of assets (moveable or immoveable) concerned or the country of their location. If not, Spanish law will be applied and his/her children might claim their rights.

by Fuensanta Alenda Andreu The European Union forced Spain to make changes to their laws, when it comes to writing out a Spanish Will and who will benefit after death. It is becoming usual (or more and more common) to file a petition before the Spanish courts on behalf of the children that were not included in the last will of their parents, British nationals and resident in Spain. Why? Last year came into force the European regulation No 650/2012, on jurisdiction, applicable law, recognition and enforcement in matter of succession and on the creation of a European Certificate of Succession. This ruling is to apply to a succession involving the death of a person on or after August 17th 2015. One of the main significant changes to the present legal situation is that to succession and wills the applicable law is that of the State of the habitual residence of the decease but rather the law of the State with which the deceased was manifestly more closely connected. But what does that really mean? According to the Spanish Civil Code, the applicable law of who should benefit after death depended upon citizenship. Due to that, foreigners would typically grant their will according to their national law not observing the fixed rules established by the Spanish Civil Code. Now that the EURegNo 650/2012 has come into force, the applicable law will be that of the place of your habitual residence

at the time of death, regardless of your original citizenship. However, the term habitual residence is not legally defined in this regulation, but this is a matter is something we shall cover in further articles. The applicable law will govern, for example, the determination of the beneficiaries and their respective shares; the capacity to inherit; the powers of the heirs; the executors of the wills and the administrators of the estate and the liability for the debts under the succession. This has a special relevance, as the Spanish Civil Code is completely different, for example, than British applicable law. One of the aspects of the Spanish law, is that two thirds of your rights and properties (despite their nature: house, car, jewellery, investments, etc...),

However, before their death, a person can instead choose that the applicable law should be the law of their country of nationality or they can choose the law of where they live, but in either case, this election must be clearly included in their will. What To Do In Case Of A Car Accident

just make sure you get all those details from the other driver. Obtain personal details of the witnesses of the accident and the occupants of the other vehicle. They will help you if you need to make a report before the authorities how the accident took place and to clarify whose fault was it. If the other party is responsible for the accident or the other driver involved in the car accident refuses to collaborate, you should take note of any details that may serve to identify them, the licence plate number, and any persons witnessing the accident, etc. Even though you might think you are not injured, we always recommend going to a Hospital or Medical Centre. Some damages, for example, a neck contracture (whiplash), appears a few hours after the accident occurs. Make sure the doctor drafts a detailed report stating the extent of any injuries resulting from the accident and a complete diagnosis. This report will be a very important factor for your lawyer.

As soon as you can, contact your lawyer so he/she can start proceedings with the insurance company in first instance. The History of Desert Island Discs Late one evening in 1941, freelance broadcaster Roy Plomley was at his home and already in his pyjamas, when an idea came to him. He sat down and wrote immediately to the BBC. That letter reached the intray of the BBC’s Head of Popular Record Programmes, Leslie Perowne. The pitch was successful and a broadcasting institution was born. That first Desert Island Discs was recorded in the BBC’s bombdamaged Maida Vale studio on 27th January 1942 and aired in the Forces Programme at 8pm two days later. It

was introduced to the listening public as "a programme in which a well-known person is asked the question, if you were to be cast away alone on a desert island, which eight gramophone records would you choose to have with you, assuming of course, that you had a gramophone and an inexhaustible supply of needles". Plomley’s first castaway was the popular Viennese comedian, actor and musician, Vic Oliver. The first piece of music chosen by Vic Oliver, and therefore by any castaway, was Chopin’s Étude No.12 in C minor played by pianist Alfred Cortot. During these war years, every BBC Radio show was scripted and Plomley and his guests would 'read' their conversations. On 7th May 1942 Roy Plomley made his first appearance as a castaway when the programme was presented by Leslie Perowne.

Who in the Theatre. According to Roy Plomley’s book, Desert Island Lists, in addition to the volume of Shakespeare, the castaways would be given a copy of the Bible, which was assumed to have been deposited there by The Gideon Society. In September 1967, Desert Island Discs transferred to the newly created Radio 4 service. Roy Plomley continued to present the programme until his death, from pleurisy, in May 1985. He was 71. He was replaced by Michael Parkinson who dispensed with the ritual of the pre-recording lunch at Plomley’s club, the Garrick, and insisted that the music was played to the guests during the recording rather than edited in afterwards. Parkinson presented the last of his 96 programmes on 13th March 1988, when his guest was the athlete Brendan Foster.

The programme came off air in 1946 returning to the Home Service in 1951. On 16th September that year, the choice of luxury was introduced when garlic was chosen by the actress Sally Ann Howes. The choice of book made its first appearance on 9th October 1951 when actor and director Henry Kendall chose Who’s

Sue Lawley became the first female presenter and over the following 18 years, Lawley, a former Nationwide presenter, interviewed 750 people from all aspects of public life including politics, entertainment, science and sport. Describing the role as “one of the best jobs in broadcasting”, Lawley left Desert Island Discs in August 2006 and was replaced by journalist and broadcaster, Kirsty Young. During her tenure in the chair the programme has become available to listen again online and is available as a download.

Running builds muscle, strengthens bone and is an excellent all over body workout. This article explores the health benefits of running in a little more detail. 1. Reduced Risk of Osteoporosis Osteoporosis is a weakness in the bone structure leading to bones becoming more hollow or porous (hence the term porosis). This leads to bones becoming brittle and more susceptible to being damaged by a fall. Some people can inherit the disease due to their genetic make up, but more often than not this condition is associated with the ageing process and lack of exercise. Running requires the constant use of bones keeping them in good working order and reducing the risk of osteoporosis with age. 2. Builds Muscle, Tones, Firms and Helps with Weight Loss Running builds muscle due to the constant exercise and effort required when you run. Plastic bottles, seats and coins were thrown during the Hammers' 2-1 victory at London Stadium as hundreds of supporters clashed and riot police entered the concourse. Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has been charged by the Football Association for claiming it would be "difficult" for referee Anthony Taylor to officiate their game with Liverpool. Mourinho added appointing Taylor for the 17 October match had put "pressure" on the Manchester-based official. Managers are not supposed to speak about referees prior to matches. Mourinho has until 31 October to respond to a charge of improper conduct and bringing the game into disrepute. Taylor issued four yellow cards - all to Manchester United - in the 0-0 draw. Former referees' chief Keith Hackett was among those to question the Professional Game Match Officials Limited's (PGMOL) decision to assign the match to Altrincham season-ticket holder Taylor, claiming it would be "intolerable" if he got a big decision wrong. Barcelona have reported La Liga president Javier Tebas to Spain's highest sports court after he questioned their players' conduct during a heated 3-2 win at Valencia. The hosts were fined 1,500 euros (£1,340) after a water bottle was thrown from the stands at players. But the disciplinary committee also criticised the "reproachable behaviour" of the celebrating Barcelona players. The Catalan club said these declarations were "irresponsible". Pescara's Serie A match against Atalanta was suspended for two minutes in the first half after tremors were felt following an earthquake. Down In The Dumps

Things are not looking good for CD Torrevieja who stumbled to another loss last weekend after looking to pick up three points turned into them coming back with none at all. This keeps them firmly stuck at the bottom of the table and with less than a full compliment of players it will be an uphill task for them to try and survive and not face relegation this season. CF Torrevieja in regional one drew 3:3 on Sunday and are now seventh in their division but they still have all to play for in their quest for promotion.

The interesting teams are Torrevieja's under 19s who are really their Under 18s as they both have young squads this season and are finding it tough. A few of the younger players are on the radar of the senior squad's last season's coach Antonio PedreĂąo Saura and so the likelihood is that they will trot out the youngblood in the next few weeks. This will not only give the younger players some experience but also maybe shake up some of the older and slower, less technically skilled players that are found in every team at this level.

Last weekend both Juvenile teams won by a goal to nil and credit where credit is due, CD Torrevieja's former coach was there and taking notes about the half dozen or so youngsters who should be playing for CD Torrevieja at some point this season, if the team can continue to survive financially. Today, Saturday 29th October, is a very unusual day in Torrevieja football as all the senior men's and boy's team play today: Saturday. CD Torrevieja are away To CD Segorbe, kickoff at 18:30. CF Torrevieja are also away at Hondon Nieves at 17:00, Juvenile A are away at Novelda at 18:00 while the younger B squad are home to league leaders CD Cutural Carrus at 17:00. With all four teams playing on the same day and many of teams suffering injuries and suspensions, a certain amount of juggling will be involved in order for all of the teams to field full teams.

CD Montesinos are at home on Sunday 30th October to entertain Atletico Orihuela, with the earlier kick-off time of 16.30. Staying in Montesinos but slowing things down just a little, those walking footballers are getting into their stride all over the Costa Blanca. Being a Holiday, next week The Monte Mentals will play on Wednesday November 2nd at 10.00am, and not their normal Tuesday, and anyone over 55 interested in playing should contact Stan at: montestan@gmail.com. They will be playing a number of visiting teams and in local tournaments this season, at over 60 level, but those 'younger' lads are also welcome. There are other local teams who play more of a fast walking, jogging football, for the 50's and over also, and in the coming weeks we will let prospective plaers know more about this new sport on the Costa Blanca.
