about us. In the fall of 2009 The Expanding Visions Foundation, a organization serving Central Ohio, started the Career Institute to teach students about the importance of professional development. Through lecture, mock interviews, and take home exercises students learn vital lifelong career skills. The CI is open to working age students (15 and older). The CI curriculum is composed of three modules which cover a Self-Assessment to determine the strengths, weaknesses and interests of the student, Interview preparation to build a high level of comfort and confidence in the interview process, and Post interview skills focused on preparing students to be successful associates in any workplace environment.

Mentor Role Description

The Expanding Visions non profit program helps to empower youth in our community to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their potential. The mentoring program uses adult volunteers to commit to supporting, guiding, and being a friend to a young person for a period of at least one year. By becoming part of the social network of adults and community members who care about the youth, the mentor can help youth develop and reach positive academic, career, and personal goals. The role of a mentor includes the following. • Take the lead in supporting a young person through an ongoing, one-to-one relationship • Serve as a positive role model and friend • Build the relationship by planning and participating in activities together • Strive for mutual respect • Build self-esteem and motivation • Help set goals and work toward accomplishing them

“What I respect most about EVF is their focus and commitment to developing young people and establishing relationships with them that will last a lifetime.” -mentor

“EVF is a blessing to both me and my 14 year old son especially now during this time of transition in his life. He has started to become more respectful and carries himself differently. Although we are still going through changes, I can see light at the end of the tunnel and I am very thankful for that.” -parent

“Expanding visions has been VEEERRY helpful to our family... My son is their son. They invest just as much in my child as I do. The entire team is very understanding and supportive. The parent liaison is very insightful and often has great advice and resources. I would recommend this program to anyone with a son.” -parent

Why should you donate to the Expanding Visions Foundation? There are many reasons but we decided to limit them to five. Donate to our organization because... 1. If we can’t be the best at results driven mentoring then we won’t do it. 2. We are deeply passionate about service to young people and their families. 3. We stick with what we understand and let our abilities, not our egos, determine what we accomplish. 4. In our organization, we accomplish our mission with great consistency because we don’t care who gets the credit. 5. Boys will be boys but Expanding Visions young men are gentlemen.
