Step by step Guide to Setting up a Volunteering Project

Step by Step Guide to Setting up a Volunteering Project Step 1 Think about what kind of volunteering activity you want to do and decide on what the aims and objectives are of your project. For some ideas, see what some other KCLSU volunteers do; link

Step 2 Contact us at KCLSU (volunteering@kclsu.org) to see what’s possible, what needs to be done and how we can help you to make it happen. We are here to offer you support and guidance!

Step 3 Plan, plan, plan! Be organised and think of all the tasks that need to be completed and who will do them, by when.

Step 4 Find a community partner who you would like to work with or ask us at KCLSU for some ideas. Once decided, both you and the partner will need to sign a ‘Community Partner Agreement’ (found in useful documents online)

Step 5 Fill out a Risk Assessment (found in useful documents online) listing all of the hazards and risks that your project may encounter and how you will manage them safely. Then email both the Risk Assessment and Community Partnership Agreement to: volunteering@kclsu.org

Step 6 Promote and advertise your volunteering project to fellow students; think social media, websites, posters and more. You can’t run a project without a team!

Step 7 Promote and advertise your volunteering project to fellow students; think social media, websites, posters and more. You can’t run a project without a team!

Step 8 Don’t forget to think about how your project went and what could have been done better? What was brilliant, what was challenging? Remember if there is any support you need, KCLSU are here to help.
