started dating in high school and had their first kiss in Bryn’s backyard atop a treehouse overlooking the river. Three and a half years later, Bryn came up with the perfect, most romantic proposal – he rebuilt the treehouse and decorated it with lights and there, in the very place where they had their first kiss, he asked Erika to marry him.

BUDGET PLANNING HOW MUCH TO SPEND ON PHOTOGRAPHY One of your most important decisions when budgeting your wedding is to determine how much to invest in photography and videography on your special day. CHOOSE WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO YOUR WEDDING
Different brides have different preferences and naturally they will tend to spend more money on the aspects they value the most. C H E R Y L S T R U S S P H O T O G R A P H Y advises brides to make a list of wedding aspects in order of importance to them to make it easier to decide where to spend more. She notes, “Photography is certainly one aspect that will help you to remember all of the other important aspects of the day and is often given a high priority. If you assign low priority in your budgeting to any aspect of your wedding, don’t expect the same level of experience and workmanship”.

THE BUDGET
BASIC VERSUS COMPREHENSIVE PACKAGES
Basic photography packages usually include 1-5 hours of coverage of the ceremony as well as photo session time with the family. While digital files may be included, most other products such as albums or prints often are not. If they are included, they may be of smaller size. An experienced photographer will usually charge anywhere from $2,000 to $3,000 and it’s important to note that reception coverage is generally not included in this type of package. More comprehensive packages may include a combination of more hours of coverage, a second photographer, a wedding album, an engagement session, or a printed canvas. The price for a well-equipped, full-day package from an experienced photographer can cost anywhere from $3,000 to over $10,000. Prices may vary depending on the package chosen and your photographer.
WORK WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
When you’ve done your research and found the perfect photographer, but the price doesn’t match your budget, what do you do? First off, do not to give up, but rather try and fit the photographer’s services into your budget. For example you can ask for less hours of coverage or forgo the reception coverage but then plan your first dance right when you enter the reception before dinner - be creative! H A V I N G G R E A T C O M M U N I C A T I O N with your photographer about what is important to you will help them capture the moments that you want them to.
TIPS FOR A TIGHT BUDGET
Planning your wedding on a low budget can be challenging but possible. Keep in mind that some photographers and videographers might offer discounts for off season or less popular dates and others might offer referral discounts. You can start off by sharing your budget with your photographer or videographer and see if they can create a package that suits it. If you trust your videographer and they feel confident enough, they might not hire a second shooter for the reception which would cut you some of the costs, but still allow you to have your wedding captured.

Years later, upon a bridge under the moon and stars, Rene got down on one knee and presented a ring of generations, passed down through one hundred years, to his future blushing bride who could not help being honoured by a gift of love so meaningful.

The wedding was in a quiet, vintage style at the Little Britain Church built in 1874. White hydrangeas and lanterns were offset by the bridesmaids in jade, the groom in elegant black, and the groomsmen in charcoal grey. A single flower and rose-decorated china on the tables set by Benjamin's Gourmet Foods provided a hint of pink complimenting the venue for the couple’s church picnic theme.

Meet with them in person and make sure you have a connection with them. It’s important to love their work but almost more importantly to really like them and get along with them. You will be working with them very closely, so make sure they are good communicators and genuinely excited about your wedding. Usually you can tell within the first couple of minutes within meeting a person if you are a good match or not. A: A true professional will always accommodate the style and tone that is set by a couple’s wedding. However, it’s always wise to view a full portfolio of any potential photographer to see if your styles are along the same lines. Try to avoid focusing in on any one image or the aesthetic of a particular wedding the photographer shot; instead ask to see a full wedding to show how the photographer captures the day as it unfolds and look at how certain moments are captured, no matter what the style of wedding. SAMBAJOY PHOTO & ART HOW LONG BEFORE THE WEDDING STARTS SHOULD THE PHOTOGRAPHER ARRIVE AT THE VENUE? A: We arrive a half hour before the bride starts getting ready. The getting ready process is very important for us as we can talk to the people closest to the couple, help with whatever happens, and also get beautiful photos of the bride and groom. I, Madalena, am always with the girls while Marcelo is with the boys and our packages always include the getting ready process. It’s great to have time to help them with whatever they need, register their different emotions from stress and anxiety to joy and love, and we love to hang the wedding dress.
SIMPLY YOU PHOTOGRAPHY WHO HOLDS THE RIGHTS FOR MY PHOTOS? CAN THE PHOTOGRAPHER USE MY PHOTOS FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES? A: The photographer will always hold the rights to the photos. I have heard of some charging a fair amount extra for the client to hold the rights to the photos, however, it can depend on the photographer. I had a couple that requested I not use their photos on Facebook, but had no issue with any other advertising. I simply agreed and added it to the contract. That being said, it will depend on the photographer.

EXPERT ADVICE JP MEDIA WORKS I ALREADY HAVE A PHOTOGRAPHER FOR MY WEDDING – DO I NEED A VIDEOGRAPHER AS WELL? A: If you've invested a lot of time, energy, and money in your wedding day and remembering those details is important to you, getting a videographer is a no-brainer. Photography is fantastic, it's timeless, but with videography, you're really able to fully appreciate the moments of that day. When you're able to hear the vows read aloud or watch the funny thing your nephew did while you were getting ready, those are the moments you won't get back and that photos aren't able to capture. Wedding days are such a blur for everyone involved, being able to relive the day Photo by JP Media Works

ORANGE HOUSE MEDIA HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR THE VIDEO TO BE READY? A: It typically takes 4-6 months for a wedding film to be ready but it really depends on how busy we are at the time and how many weddings that need to be edited. All of our couples get two edits of their footage; the first is the documentary edit which is basically everything that happened in chronological order throughout the day. This edit is the more traditional style of wedding videography and is usually one and a half to two hours in length. The second edit is the highlight reel; this is the best of the best shots carefully and creatively edited.
