Painting with Oils

Learn techniques such as textural painting, surface preparation, color mixing and glazing with acrylics. This course has the flexibility to accommodate the needs of both beginning and intermediate level painters. Ever feel confused when shopping for art supplies? This course is designed to help you make sense of the wide variety of materials available to oil painters, including supports, mediums, solvents, paints, brushes, and knives.You will learn how to use the materials properly and safely, how to care for and store these materials, while also working on the creation of several oil paintings. Alla prima comes from Italian, literally meaning “at once.” Instead of building colors up with layers or glazing over a painting, alla prima paintings are completed while the paint is still wet.
