C.O.O. CORNER
Happy Florida winter or fall as we call it in the Midwest! Wow! What a year it has been. I am excited to be here and winding down the year with such an awesome group of individuals who all share in the dedication to do what is right for our members, our community, and each other. It has been a whirlwind of changes as we truly begin to Drive Forward Momentum. Our internal operations, the look/ feel of our sales and service centers, our internal systems, and so much more will all continue to be under a microscope for dissection as we reinvest to keep SCCU happy and healthy for the next 90 years. As your Chief Operating Officer, I oversee the functions of our retail network, call center, facilities, and mortgage lending. I assure you these areas keep me busy
day in and day out! Your executive team is hard at work on budgeting for 2022. We hope to share with you all what we are working on for 2022 and 2023 in a few short months. I’d like to thank each of you for the ideas, issues, and member feedback you all have provided. Hearing and understanding the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to our operations will undoubtedly position us to make the changes necessary to create a member experience for our members that is second to none. Your feedback has directly impacted our strategic direction, our project focus, and our operational structure. Keep the ideas and feedback coming please! Lastly, as the new guy, the vast majority have welcomed me as a new citizen to the Midwest. Sharing the do’s and do not’s of the area, warning me when necessary, and sharing all the awesome things to do in the greater Wisconsin and Minnesota area. Thank you all for being so welcoming to me and embracing the changes as we reposition the credit union for years of continued growth, success, and stability.

GET TO KNOW SHANE
HOW MANY YEARS HAVE YOU BEEN IN THE INDUSTRY?
I have been in the credit union industry for 15 years. I have worked my entire career, since I was 18, in the industry.
WHY DID YOU COME TO SCCU?
The potential…this credit union has a ton of opportunity, room for growth, the ability to exceed member expectations, and a desire to do what’s right. All of that is a recipe for success. Our employees are so willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done, smile, and keep moving.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK?
This may be an unpopular opinion….Decision Points by George W. Bush. This is my most recent and really provided some perspective into the aftermath of 9/11 and the decision making process. I am a history buff so I read pretty much anything I can from a historical figure or perspective.
WHAT IS YOUR PERSONAL MOTTO?
Make it happen…my first boss at my previous credit union when I was 18 always told me “just make it happen.” This has stuck with me ever since. The answer can’t be no or at least shouldn’t be at first. My first instinct is always let’s make it happen. Doesn’t always work though! Haha!
WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE SPORTS TEAM?
This is definitely an unpopular opinion….Tampa! Rays, Lightning, and Bucs (Sorry Green Bay). Born and raised just north of Tampa so I spent lots of time at those stadiums with my dad and now my kids. If it helps…my second favorite baseball team is Milwaukee.
WHAT IS THE WEIRDEST THING ABOUT THE TWIN PORTS?
I guess if I had to choose, the oddity for me would be the bars with no food…statistically speaking you make far more money if you offer a food menu. Superior has so many bars that don’t offer food. However, seems like a great opportunity for a SCCU Pub Crawl!
WHAT TEMPERATURE DO YOU CONSIDER COLD?
50 Degrees or below…I know that’s going to get a lot of eye rolls but my body just has not adjusted yet. I am gearing up for fall and winter, mentally preparing for what is to come.
IF YOU HAD A YACHT, WHAT WOULD YOU NAME IT?
Sea Biscuit…I love the ocean and who doesn’t like a biscuit! Table of Contents 5
