Well Youth Club: Wickford

Every Friday, 6:00pm -8:00pm at Downtowner Youth Centre

Supporting children and young people’s mental health is paramount. Giving them the skills early on in life to manage their mental health and wellbeing is key to helping the next generation be resilient across the life course and thrive. Therefore, we set up our ‘Well Kids Club’, and our ‘Well Youth Club’ to take children and young people on this exciting journey of personal development. Fun, fun, fun is the key, whilst helping them understand the world around them and the brain within them. We celebrate neurodiversity and individual strengths, creating a positive environment of acceptance, diversity and self-love.

Well Youth is aimed at young people 11+. Our staff team is made up of DBS cleared personnel, a wellbeing practitioner, a counsellor, and volunteer youth workers. As we work in conjunction with Essex Youth Service, we also access their CPD development programmes and training.

Why should you think about joining the Scouts?

With the summer coming up and the days about to get hotter, it’s a great time to think about joining the Scouts.

The Scouts believe in preparing our young people with the skills for life and provide opportunities you might not find elsewhere. They foster an environment that builds character, employability and practical skills they need in this world to succeed, and also encourage them to learn more and build upon this knowledge.

With a world overrun by social media and the internet, there’s no better time to ensure our kids get outdoors and experience what the world has to offer.

Every week, the Scouts help almost half a million people aged 4-25 develop these skills for life.

From activities, to badges, to nights away there is a constant stream of opportunities to get involved in.

It’s not only children and teenagers who can benefit from joining, with a wide range of volunteering avenues, adults can also gain invaluable experience from the Scouts.

Volunteers give up just a fraction of their own to support young people in their communities but also learn new skills, and gain self-confidence as well as pride and a sense of identity.

Not all volunteers deliver activities to young people, they can also work within the wider scope of Scouts, driving minibuses, cooking at camps, work on the chair or even on the accounts behind the scenes for example.

To find out more about you can get involved and find your local group within the Scouts, visit www.scouts.org.uk
