T

he Office of Student Affairs and Services, together with General Education Department – NSTP, held the NSTP Environmental tour last October 27, 2010, at Amansinaya Mountain Resort, Laurel Batangas, and exposed students to tree planting and a teambuilding activity. The event focused on promoting conservation of the environment and various practical technologies among the participants, as well as presenting theoretical and experiential understanding of our environment. The event also presented the students with an opportunity to learn on how to appreciate nature in an eco-community.

Upon arrival at the resort, the students were grouped into six teams with an appointed leader per group. Shortly after a brief orientation, the tree planting started. Each group was given three seedlings, a mix of lansones and/or rambutan, to plant. Participants were assisted by the farm coordinator in the placing of the seedlings properly. After the tree planting, participants were directed towards Pugad Lawin Adventure Camp for the much awaited team building activity. Several challenges such as the Tire Challenge, Log Challenge, Chicken Walk, Tarzan Swing, Jordan Ladder, Monkey Swing, Trust Fall, Takeshi Wall, and Electric Fence energized the teams. These trials tested the six teams’ teamwork, physical and mental strengths, and initiative. There were also different attractions in the resort like rock climbing, rappelling and a zip line. After lunch, the participants proceeded to the resort pool, where they were able to relax and have fun with their friends.
