EVERTIBILIT Y Paul Schatz deduced and derived the concept of the inversion of space from philosophical and natural scientific findings. His work is a study on geometrical rules and circumstances between mathematics nature and their consequences on design, art and architecture. He discovered the law of inversion within geometric bodies, in particular that one of the cube.

ARTISTIC this is my work as an independent textile artist and fashion designer. I am interested in investigating the principles of functional design and its expressive potential. I try to find general pattern and rules of existing systems to hack them, turn them upside down and insite out, in order to push them one step further. My design process is a dialog between the given and the impossible, the tension between those two is what pushes my pesonal and ongoing development as a creator... Textiles are my language, pattern making my passion and sewing my meditation...

ENGINEERED S T R I P E S exploring the three dimensional potential of printed stripes in context to space and the human body.
MASTER `FRACTION, an investigation on principles of functional design and its expressive potential´ is dealing with the interaction between the body, the worn garment and the closer space around it, in the context of the three being individual functional systems. Based on my findings, I am questioning the existing paradigms for a functional expression with the aim of generating an outlook for a possible development of what can be considered a functional visual. How much function can an expression contain and how much expression can still be considered functional? Revisiting the historic context of functional design, not garment construction, profound thoughts on aesthetics and function as well as the current status of the branch, this article is aiming for a more holistic view on functional creation and fashion design. Based on this theoretical background ten outfits got developed. All of them serve as a conceptual proposal of what the findings could mean in reality.
