A

The conventional method of organization for a multi storied building splits di erent departments over several levels - thus not creating interaction and movement. Common characteristics of the urban o ce building include a circulation core containing the main elevator system, services spaces, and enclosed fire stairs. The elevator, in most cases, is the primary form of vertical circulation throughout the building floors. Around the core is the main o ce space, open for flexibility, and many times developed into an expanse of open cubical workspace. The critical challenge of this project is to motivate and encourage various movements rather than routine. My response to this is an idea of place where there is visual connection by innovative system of stacked slabs or tables. Each slab would define a particular department in mix with other department. The slabs or tables overlap allows visual connections between activities and urges for movement. Double and triple height spaces allow di erent kind of functions resulting in movement from one place to another. The result of this composition is open and highly visible with numerous routes for movement and collaborations.

These staggered floor plates would house all the working force, making it the p r i m a r y s p a ce . T h i s a re a wo u l d encourage visual interaction and promote movement.

They are present at the whole stretch of the building. This 6M width would contain all shared spaces like smoking room, printer area, resource center. The spine would also have service areas inside which would instigate movement.

Conceived as a vertical field of movement, their repetition and compression into a single vertical plane aims to create a concentration of activity and meeting. There are three types of staircase which would included di erent kind of body movements and keeping all parts of the body active.

The environment has been designed in a way to make people's life easier, where we can take elevator over stairs to save time, or where we can pick up a phone to save ourselves a trip to another room. Today's architectural design does not engage the physical body. There are only three ways to ascend or descend a building: stairs, elevators, or ramps. We have never thought about climbing, sliding, jumping or crawling. Therefore we need to redesign the the "in between" spaces to engage and encourage movement. The creation of pleasant, inspiring the "in between" s p a ce s t h ro u g h o u t t h e wo r k p l a ce a l s o encourages people to get up and take their work or meeting elsewhere, rather than sitting on the desk all day. Workplace cafe areas, lounges, and any extra "in between" spaces in the building can be furnished for individual and small group work not only provide a destination, but also provide di erent seating or standing height surfaces, prompting variety through di erent working positions.

PROJECT TYPE: Train Station STUDIO 09: Professor Yashwant Pitkar DATE: September 2017 LOCATION: Sanpada, Mumbai.

A

Sanpada is a residential node that has been developed by CIDCO since the late 1980s. It has expanding considerably with new building projects springing up every other day. In fact Sanpada is becoming the next ideal residential hub with malls and major amnesties establishing in close vicinity to Vashi. Sanpada railway station is on the harbour line and has connectivity to CST, Panvel and Thane. The Sion-Panvel highway crosses through Sanpada and is 100 meters away from the railway station. Similar to Vashi and CBD Belapur railway stations, the Sanpada railway station also houses a commercial o ce complex.

The new Train Station should expand to become a ‘transfer machine’ that incorporates the whole spectrum of public transport, meeting the travel demands of the 21st century.

“Sanpada Train Station does not have to be just a train station. It has to become a transfer hub, to give a new and vital impetus to station design, so rather than merely designing the station around the activities and people flows that already took place there, the expanded architecture of the new Station would directs and determines how people use and move around the building”

THE ROOF 15

The roof structure, which is connected at the centre, transitions into individual, tongue shaped platform roofs in the outer areas of the platforms. This creates an overall impression that resembles a wave gradually dissipating as it spreads.

In Project II was given major responsibility of making the presentation and 3D drawings of the proposed design after intensive discussion between my team and our Principal Architect of our firm. This project taught me a lot about software's like3DMax& Revit, for coordination of our 3D Image, I was simultaneously working with our Graphic Team. This project taught me a lot about Client Presentation and how important is your 1st idea pitch presentation. In the II Project I learnt more about the government laws and regulation required for Commercial Buildings. This project gave me an insight into municipal drawings and laws. I also helped in deriving concepts of di erent Core's for a commercial building.

The Town Hub is a planned development of over 2 million sq.ft. and includes a high street shopping experience, traditional mall, a hotel, service apartments and o ces. This project also o ers a unique plaza and civic amenities for a luxury living. My team had two particular projects in this master plan. 1. Retail and Small O ces 2. Corporate O ce Hub. Evolving O ce Spaces

O ces are evolving from being just places to work to being places that care for their employees. The best companies to work for today have o ce spaces where services are provided that meet the employees’ daily personal needs. Green by design Sustainable O ce spaces The new o ce complex at Karle Town Center addresses global climatic and energy issues as a core driver of its design. It is important that a project of this magnitude takes responsibility for its energy and resource consumption. A typical Bangalore o ce building would require 25 kwh per sqft per year to operate. Our design will consume an estimated 16 kwh per sq ft per year, converting to a running energy cost reduction of 36%. High performance facade In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, the gracefully curving facade performs a self-shading function. The facade reduces direct solar gain by up to 80%, while still allowing in di use daylight and providing views out. The facade was designed and fabricated using modular technology. Natural air and light The internal air and light shafts allow for increased natural day lighting, ventilation and a lobby garden, improving the health and well-being of people in the workplace. This feature also eliminates the need for climate control in common areas.

The concept of luxurious architecture may at times reflect a bygone age or even the historic ethos of another country, but it must also be coupled with ultra-modern amenities and latest technological advancements. Functionality and design must blend seamlessly, and the challenge to achieve this is keeping developers and architects of luxury abodes very busy indeed. Here, artistic ability and expression still play a major role. For instance, simple Italian marble is no longer considered a luxury – however, it can be crafted in ways that make all the di erence. However, it is the architecture that causes the first sharp intake of breath – that sense of wonder and awe which woos potential buyers.

The entrance yard welcomes with its open sapce only defined by buildings - dining hall and workshop - on two sides. Entering the inner courtyard one finds a green area and an enclosed space between all four buildings providing a quiet atmosphere. In front of the girls- and boys-dormitories there are little yards for even more private outdoor utilization. Also kitchen and lavatories are extended into enclosed exterior working spaces, while the partly roofed terrace in front of the class rooms enlarges the workshop area

The design concept grows on the idea assimilated and learnt through case studies and sketches. The planing was organized according to facilities for easier understanding of the requirement. A flexible design sits at the heart of the design concept. To make the entire environment as flexible as possible at all levels. The layout of the school is a composition of four buildings forming open spaces of di erent qualities and utilizations. Size, enclosure and connection to interior spaces define outdoor spaces of graded intimacy.

Located amidst the Western Express Highway Station, the context of the site consist of heavily packed roads, congested footpaths and noise. . This tight corner plot experiences dense amount of footfall and tra c. Therefore there is a demand for a very much needed pause/ leisure or unwinding space for the local and visiting users, which an Urban Transit Hub will very much satisfy.

A pocket of leisure / breakout space combined with required amenities is very much required in the existing site. The Transit Hub Consists of a open atrium and interaction, inward looking spaces to provide visual connect, The Transit Hub connects to the Metro station, thus heavy footfall is expected. The entry is raised with many steps, which also acts as an informal seating space. The presence of the Hub at such a location does not only serve the purpose of a Urban Pause but also acts as a landmark or identity by having its sky restaurant looking over the expressway.

+ Visibility and Views Good street-to-plaza visibility announces the plaza's internal attractions. It signifies that it is a public space, it permits users to watch street activity and it makes the space safer.

Good seating is important to plaza users. Without it, fewer people will stop to use a space. There are four major points to remember when planning seating:

A plaza should be linked to other surrounding open spaces, as well as interior spaces such as lobbies, to create a dynamic pedestrian network.

In college, my design professors, encouraged me to sketch, but I didn't want to listen. Why would I want to sketch in a silly little book when I have this computer or laptop , with all design software imaginable. For start I fought the idea. Whenever a new design project came along. I would not sketch, in my rush to get to the computer and start refining. I missed out on the opportunities sketching provides.

Over time, I slowly began to open up more and more to the idea. No one forced me. I gained a deeper appreciation towards it.Today sketching is a valuable part of me. Sketching is fast, rough and dirty. It saves me a lot of time. I started sketching during travel and it has given me a lot to learn and observe. Lastly sketching is for everyone.

I was born and raised in Mumbai, India, to a family from Kutch, Gujarat. I hold a Bachelor of Architecture from Academy Of Architecture, Mumbai, which I obtained with high distinction in May 2018. I have also interned for one semester at Venkatramanan Associates, in Bangalore, India.
