SATRAP’S CORNER BY: DR. SAMANTHA SCHMIDT

Brothers, Before we know it, Spring Assembly will be here! I look forward to seeing each and every one of you in Orlando, Florida from February 12-14, 2016. The Brothers of Epsilon Mu have been diligently working to plan an exciting and productive weekend. As we are all aware, we will be holding elections for the Southeast Province Executive Committee at this Assembly. I implore you all to review the process of elections with your Chapters and ask myself and/or the SEP Parliamentarian if you have any questions about the process. Be sure to take full advantage of this newsletter by reviewing all the candidates running for an officer position so you will be prepared to speak with each of them at Assembly.

I would like to thank all the Brothers in the 2015-2016 Executive Committee for their hard work and determination. I also want to thank all the Brothers who served as chairs and members of committees because without you this Province would not continue to grow and prosper. Lastly, I would like to thank all the Brothers of the Southeast Province for being exceptional individuals and the driving force being this outstanding Province. It has been an honor to serve as your Satrap during this past year and I look forward to continuing to serve this Province and Fraternity in future years.

Brothers of the Southeast Province, First I would like to start with how honored I am to have been nominated for the position of Vice Satrap. I am currently a P4 at South University in Savannah, Georgia where I am enrolled in the dual Pharm.D./MBA program. After graduation I plan to complete a two-year residency program with a focus in health-system pharmacy administration. Although I have not yet had the honor of serving at the Province level, I wholeheartedly believe that no other position would have prepared me to become Vice Satrap quite like becoming Regent of Delta Omega. Being able to assist in the successful planning and hosting of a Province Assembly was truly a learning experience and opened my eyes to how much work our Executive and Advisory Committee members do to ensure our meetings are worthwhile. At the Chapter level I am currently working with other Brothers within the Chapter to plan Delta Omega’s First Annual Brother’s Retreat and Officer Transition Weekend. Last year following elections I noticed many shortcomings in how our Chapter transitioned officers and committee chairs. When I reached out to other Chapters within the Province I realized we were one of the few Chapters not holding a retreat. I made it my personal goal for this year to ensure Delta Omega began holding a yearly retreat. I look forward to seeing this come to fruition in April and witnessing the impact it will have on our Chapter in the future. This year at GCC we all witnessed the overwhelming number of Top Performing and Top 10 Chapters that came from the Southeast Province. By encouraging communication amongst Chapters and building on the strengths of one another I am certain we will see even more of Chapters enter into the top ranks in the nation next year. The Brothers of the Southeast Province have shown time and time again how willing they are to do the work necessary to carry on the legacy of our great Fraternity. Thank you for consideration and I look forward to seeing you guys in Orlando. Fraternally,
 Brother Covert

Hello Brothers, My name is Rachel Rivera-Blanco and I am honored to be nominated for the position of Southeast Province Secretary. I began my pharmacy career at Publix in Orlando in 2010 and instantly fell in love. I graduated from UCF in May 2014, and started at South University in June 2014. In the last year and a half, my various positions within my pharmacy program have prepared me to hold a position within the Province. I have attended two Province Assemblies, as well as other events throughout the Southeast Province, allowing me to meet Brothers from other Chapters. My attention to detail, as well as my work ethic, are well documented. As President of PLS, Chaplain of Delta Omega, and Membership VP of APhA-ASP, I have had the opportunity to plan fundraisers, host charity events, and be involved in other projects that I feel make me qualified for this position. Student Ambassador (2013 – Present) I am currently a fourth year student at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy – Orlando Campus. In the Fall of 2012, I became a proud initiate of the Delta Class of Epsilon Mu. To gain the honor of wearing these letters has been one of the most memorable and life-changing experiences of my life. As I approach graduation and the end of my time as a Collegiate Brother, I am now looking to find ways of staying involved with our beloved fraternity as a Graduate Brother. I am therefore running for Treasurer of the Southeast Province. Soon after I became a Brother, I was appointed as the Financial Committee Chair of Epsilon Mu, a role I took on while I concurrently serving as Treasurer of both FSHP and ASCP. As chair, I initiated the first pieces of official merchandise sold by our Chapter, led in the development of our first Chapter budget, and pioneered the innovation of the Epsilon Mu Google Calendar. I am proud to say that it was one of the most successful fundraising years of our Chapter. Subsequently, through the guidance and encouragement of my fellow Brothers, I was installed as the fourth Regent of Epsilon Mu in February 2014. With the help of my executive board, I brought structure to our Chapter during a time of rapid and prosperous growth. I plan to bring that same fury and passion to a province that is also going through its own growing process. I live and breathe Kappa Psi in some form everyday and to be able to serve you all as Treasurer of the Southeast Province would be a distinct honor. I look forward to seeing all my Brothers, both old and new, at the upcoming 2016 Southeast Province Spring Assembly hosted by Epsilon Mu in the beautiful city of Orlando, Florida!

Out of all the positions I’ve held over the years, both inside and outside of Kappa Psi, the one I’ve cherished the most was serving as Epsilon Mu’s Chaplain. The Rituals are the ties that bind the past, present and future of this Fraternity together. I’m extremely passionate about seeing them expertly orchestrated and have participated in several initiations around the Province. Greetings Brothers,
My name is Monica Tadros and I am seeking to be the Southeast Province Webmaster. I have already had the pleasure of serving as this past year's Assistant Webmaster. Additionally, I have had the unbelievable privilege of being appointed as Webmaster after just 6 months of being an Assistant. This was a humbling experience for me that I was and am extremely grateful for, especially having been a relatively new brother. With this promotion, I was motivated to quickly learn things about our Province website and from this pressure, I can say that I perfected a number of skills necessary to run it. Not only that, but I have grown accustomed to the dynamic that is needed for the Province Executive Committee to function and enjoy being part of something that is bigger than myself. That being said, I now believe that there is so much more I could have done for our Province had I been given more time as Webmaster, especially during those crucial summer months. As a result, I am running for Webmaster of the Southeast Province to finish what I have started. It is my goal to assist the Executive Committee with making announcements, facilitating communication, and ultimately innovating our Province website to be the most user-friendly source of information to the Province. It is with great humility that I ask for your support as I endeavor to continue serving Kappa Psi, the Southeast Province, and my fellow brothers. Thank you! Proud to be Your Brother.

Dr.Christopher N. Winslow

Candidate For: GCC Delegate
 Current Chapter: Savannah Grad
Chapter of Initiation: Delta Omega, January 2011 Leadership Positions Held in Kappa Psi:
 Past Regent of Delta Omega
Past SEP Graduate Development Committee Chair
Savannah Graduate Parliamentarian Leadership Outside of Kappa Psi:
 Past APhA-ASP SPAN Liaison,
 Past PLS Chapter Delegate
Hi! My name is Chris Winslow and I am very excited at the prospect of serving as your next Southeast Province GCC Delegate. Since initiation in early 2011, I started getting involved and was at my first Province IV Assembly the very next weekend. Right after Assembly, I went to the Kappa Psi Ski Trip with Gamma Psi. From those two weekends on, I have been blessed with the opportunity to network far and wide across the Fraternity. Soon after crossing into the Brotherhood, I had become Regent-Elect and subsequently Regent at Delta Omega. This allowed for many opportunities to serve as a delegate on behalf of the Brothers at the regional and national level. In APhA-ASP, I held the delegate position for South University both regionally and nationally as well. Today, I continue to represent our top 10 Savannah Graduate Chapter as delegate when called upon. Beyond delegate experience and current network status, I am able to quickly make new, long lasting connections with Brothers far and near. With this, I will easily be able to represent the Province in all aspects and, contrastingly, keep the Province well informed of necessary items. The last thing you will need to know about me is that I'm super eager and a very active Grad. I have served many roles within the Province and am currently on my second term as a national committee member. I have an unwavering, thriving passion to work for Kappa Psi and look forward to doing so as GCC Delegate for the next term. PTBYB,

Brian Littlejohn
 Candidate For: Alternate GCC Delegate
Chapter of Initiation: Epsilon Mu, Nov. 23, 2013 Leadership Positions Held in Kappa Psi:
Regent, Epsilon Mu (2015-present) Leadership Outside of Kappa Psi:
University of Florida COP-Orlando Class of 2017 VicePresident
Attending the recent 57th GCC in Denver is easily one of the best experiences I’ve had since being initiated as a Brother of Kappa Psi. While there, I served as one of the delegates for Epsilon Mu. In the months leading up to GCC, I helped oversee fundraising events that allowed our Chapter to provide financial incentives in order to increase the Brothers in attendance. I also presented a breakdown of the legislative proposals for Chapter discussion and voting so that our unified voice could be heard on an international level. If elected Alternate GCC Delegate, I would like to utilize similar techniques to assist Chapters in maximizing SEP representation at GCC and provide comprehensible understanding of proposed legislative and other Fraternity matters. I also want to further increase clearer communication between the Province and the Chapters regarding GCC, including required forms, dates, agendas, and anything else that may be confusing. As a Province delegate, I will make sure the best interests of our Brothers are upheld at GCC. I have been the Regent of Epsilon Mu since being elected January of last year. I previously served as the chair of both our Chapter’s Judicial and Pledging committees, and am currently a member of the Province Development Committee. If I serve as a Province officer, I am more than well-prepared to handle a lot of workload and meetings while still ensuring first-rate results. I still plan on being heavily involved with Epsilon Mu following my tenure as Regent, but I would like to extend my involvement in Kappa Psi on a larger level. I believe this position is where I currently can be most useful for the rest of the Brothers in the Southeast.

CHAPTER REPORTS GAMMA SIGMA UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA, GAINESVILLE This past semester the astounding chapter of Gamma Sigma has flourished from the instillation of our Graduate Chapter to welcoming seven new Brothers. At the beginning of the semester we raised more than $600 at our annual Halloween Party benefitting The Children’s Miracle Network. Here, our pledges performed a choreographed dance for the attendees where they performed to a variety of different songs. The audience was ecstatic from this and it was well worth the watch! This past semester also consisted of our chapter enrolling in the Adopt-A-Road Program where we now have a sign displayed at the beginning and end of our road to show our dedication in keeping the community clean and giving back. Towards the end of the semester the Brothers decided to collaborate with the KE girls where we had a potluck social to watch the SEC Championship which ended up being a lot of fun to where we will be doing much more socials together in the future. In addition, we also made Holiday cards for all the UFCOP faculty members thanking them for their time and guidance throughout our pharmacy school journey. For the first time, we hosted a guest speaker lunch and learn for Diabetes Awareness mMonth with them turning out to be a great success and turnout. During the Spring semester we will be hosting our Annual Golf Tournament in early April where all the money raised will be donated to Relay for Life. This event is open to public and we always look forward to seeing Brothers, old and new, come in from out of town and hangout for the weekend. More details about this event will come in the near future so keep your eyes open!

DELTA RHO NOVA SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY The 2015 year has come to an end and the Brothers of Delta Rho have never been more excited. We wanted to finish off strong by giving back to the community right before the year ended. The brothers got together, a day after Christmas, to volunteer at the Soup Kitchen to give food to those in need during the holiday season. Brothers served hot food for those in need and packaged food for families. What a great way to end the year! There are a lot of upcoming events that the brothers are excited about. On January 10th, our Rho Pledge Class is crossing over to become official brothers of our beloved fraternity. We plan to have a day filled with bonding activities and then spend the night with the brothers at a beautiful campsite near the river. Some upcoming events include a community clean up at Quiet Waters park and our annual CommunityFest at NSU, where brothers actively participate with the community. We are also extremely excited about the upcoming Conclave hosted by Epsilon Mu in Orlando, Florida. Can’t wait to see everyone! Although 2015 has come to an end, the brothers of Delta Rho are excited to make 2016 an even better one.

EPSILON ETA LECOM
Epsilon Eta held our rush events last year in November! We continued the tradition of coupling our rush events with a philanthropic event. Our first rush event was an informational session that was held at LECOM campus. Our next rush event was the “Keep Manatee Beautiful” Beach Cleanup, where we collected approximately 40 pounds worth of waste and recyclable items off our local adopted beach. Our third rush event was “Bowling for the Community.” We collected school supply items to help the underserved schools in Sarasota/Bradenton area. Last but not least, our fourth rush event was our Sunset Interview, which entails a canned food drive. We were able to collect pounds of canned food items; all food items were donated to the Food Bank of Manatee. With that, we are proud and happy to announce that 12 students accepted bids at the conclusion of rush, and will be embarking on their pledge process in the Spring semester of 2016. Also in November, Epsilon Eta hosted the annual Thanksgiving Potluck in Bradenton, FL and we would like to extend our thank you to Brothers of Zeta Delta and our Alumni Brothers for celebrating Thanksgiving together with us. Lastly, we are looking forward to attend the next Spring Southeast Province Conclave in Orlando, FL. See you all soon!

DELTA OMEGA SOUTH UNIVERSITY It is an exciting time for the Delta Omega Chapter as we have just completed initiation! Saturday, January 9, 2015 marks the crossing of 12 new brothers into Delta Omega. We are very excited for our new brothers and what they have to offer the future of Kappa Psi. Along with initiation, Delta Omega has been very involved this past year with various philanthropic events. A few include Toys For Tots, scrub days to benefit a child in need, and Day of Dignity. Day of Dignity is one of our main events we do multiple times a year to help benefit the less fortunate people of Savannah. We partner up with multiple organizations to donate food and clothes to the homeless population. Our chapter looks forward to what 2016 has to offer!

EPSILON MU UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA, ORLANDO Epsilon Mu has been busy these past few months preparing for the 2016 SEP Spring Assembly. We are very excited to see our fellow Brothers in sunny Orlando, FL this Valentine’s weekend. We have a couple of totally radical venues planned that are sure to offer lots of fun! Our spring assembly will kick it back all the way to the 90s on Friday night, so dress like its “pre” 1999. We recently held elections for our 2016-2017 Executive Board and would like to congratulate our new officers: Jennifer Perez (Regent), Jenny Vuong (Vice-Regent), Jacqueline Nguyen (Secretary), Jose Tamayo (Treasurer), Khang Tran (Historian), Ben Ferris (Sergeant-At-Arms), Kevin Thomas (Chaplain), Theora Canonica (Pledgemaster); they will assume office in late February. Lastly, 19 of our Brothers are heading to the Atlantic Province Assembly in Raleigh, NC; we hope to see you there!

CHARLESTON GRAD The Brothers of Charleston Grad were delighted to support the Brothers of Iota and the Low Country Food Bank located in Charleston, South Carolina during their annual Swamp Party. This event was designed not only to benefit this long-standing philanthropy but also to reunite the alumni Brothers from the Medical University of South Carolina and greater Charleston area with current Brothers at the Iota Chapter. Our Grad Brothers have been actively participating in the pledge process of Iota and look forward to welcoming a new class of awesome Brothers. A group of Brothers traveled to Columbia, South Carolina for the University of South Carolina vs. University of Florida game for some fellowship and football! The Brothers celebrated two outstanding Charleston Grad Brothers birthdays, Brothers William Shealy and Trey Reeves, in their undergrad city. If you are interested in becoming involved with Charleston Grad, please contact our Regent, William Shealy, at shealywilliamj@gmail.com. THE INSERT

ZETA GAMMA UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA, JACKSONVILLE
This Fall, Zeta Gamma has been very busy with fellowship, philanthropy, pledging and industry. First of all, Our Chaplain, Brother Logan Spearin alongside graduate brothers hosted our first ever speed dating event, an industry project to help current pharmacy students strengthen interviewing skills by way of mock interviews followed by personalized feedback that aided pharmacy students prepare for their future dream jobs. Our pledging committee has been attentive in shaping our pledges to be strong brothers. Week after week they have gained more trust within themselves and between each other. They have made evident the meaning of pledging and we continue to foster their progress and development. Their initiation is planned for January 30th in Jacksonville, FL. If you would like to attend please reach out to our Pledgemaster, Eldin Kalac. November came around quickly, so instead of running, we wanted to do a walk only this time to help raise money to stop diabetes. As part of the American Diabetes Association’s, Stop Diabetes campaign. Our brothers provided much needed help to performing glucose screenings for the event and volunteering at the kids zone. A shout out to Brother Secretary Refat Noor for organizing the event. Zeta Gamma also teamed up with FSHP to participate in the Annual Light the Night Walk - a fundraising campaign for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society that brings together families and communities to honor blood cancer survivors, as well as those forever lost, and to raise awareness on the importance of finding cures and providing treatments for blood cancer patients. The brothers definitely shined brightly that night. As Thanksgiving came around, our empty stomachs gave way to a full international course dinner cooked up by all the brothers. Afterwards, the brothers decided that there was no better way to burn off those holiday pounds than to sweat it out in a game of Just Dance – and dance we did. Just before Christmas Break we were able to get together for another potluck and a great game of white elephant. Finally, Our brotherhood was definitely felt at the 15th annual UF Student Organization Annual Retreat (SOAR) hosted this year in Jacksonville, Florida. Brothers from throughout the Province demonstrated their strong interest in leadership development. Brother Sergeant-of-Arms Larry Coy put on quite a show playing as both comedian Steve Harvey and Steven Colbert. All I can say is that we had a sellout crowd and some unforgettable laughs.

ZETA DELTA UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA
The end of the semester was very exciting for Zeta Delta. On November 7th, 2015 we welcomed our Gamma Class into the Brotherhood of this amazing Fraternity and we are excited to see what these 12 new Brothers can accomplish. Congratulations once more to Hanna Coumans, Amber Cox, Kelly Rae Tolbert, Lairyn Stimmel, Nada Yassein, Jackie Zembron, Kevin Klein, Donna Mae Pate, Timothy Padawer, Clarissa Maravilla, Kristal Urena and Lisa Phan. This semester we also started to grow our extended Kappa Psi family as well. Congratulations to Brothers Kristin Berretta, Jennifer Caldwell, and Hanna Coumans who all got engaged in November/ December. Also, huge congratulations to Brothers Aleksey Garmaza and Brett LaBossiere who will both become first time parents soon. Zeta Delta finished the fall semester strong with fundraising and walking at Tampa Take Steps for Crohn’s and Colitis. We also had a Halloween party for the patients at the ACS Hope Lodge, who inspired us to appreciate every day. Zeta Delta also held two socials, in collaboration with Tampa Grad, at the Cask Social restaurant and Halloween Horror Nights at Busch Gardens. This winter, we had our retreat at Fanning Springs where we bonded and planned our upcoming semester. Our Chapter is becoming stronger than ever with planning more philanthropy events and socials with the surrounding collegiate and graduate chapters. We kicked off the spring semester with a Welcome Back Breakfast Social for the USF student body and will be hosting a Script Your Future event in February. We plan to teach young students about poison awareness in Poison Prevention Week and will be raising money for Relay for Life through Penny Wars. We are motivated about getting involved in the community with our new ideas, while still upholding our annual commitments. As we continue to grow we will always remember, all for one and one for all.

DELTA UPSILON PALM BEACH ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY
This past semester, not only has our chapter been working hard, we have been playing hard too. Our intermural softball team, Kappa Sox, came out of the season with an almost winning record of 2-2 and many memories that our brothers will never forget! Other than playing hard, the committee heads of Delta Upsilon have been working hard to keep our chapter busy. We have been hosting a weekly scholarship hour where the brothers offer tutoring for the underclassmen, we have been volunteering with any many different organizations, like Buddy Walk and Quantum House, and most excitingly we have been testing our pledges in events, like Iron Pledge and Scavenger Hunt. As this new semester begins we look forward to staying busy with our annual yard sale (our biggest fundraiser of the year), planning for our annual golf tournament and grad dinner celebration, and celebrating the crossover of our new brothers!

IOTA MEDICAL UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA
This past fall semester the Iota chapter has been actively involved with hosting a variety of activities. The chapter hosted two annual fundraising events with proceeds going to benefit the Low Country Food Bank, an organization the chapter works closely with. In October, brothers cooked Chicken Bog, a South Carolina specialty of rice, sausage and chicken, and sold plates to the Medical University of South Carolina community. In November, to celebrate Thanksgiving, the chapter hosted its crowd-pleasing Turkey Fry fundraiser. Brothers fried turkeys and cooked several traditional Thanksgiving side dishes to provide a delicious lunch, which was sold on campus. Over these two events, the chapter served over 200 meals with all of the profits being put towards a donation to the food bank in the spring, after the brothers host their final fundraising event. Iota also held its annual Swamp Party for the college at Bowen’s Island Restaurant in November. This was a great opportunity for the chapter to host an event to get together graduate brothers, faculty, current brothers and other fellow students so they could interact in a social environment. The chapter looks forward to the new semester with the induction of new brothers, continued service to the community, and growth as a chapter. THE INSERT
