2018 STAR FARMER Atwood FFA member Natalie Hawkins was recognized as the State Star Farmer, one of the association’s top honors, during the 90th Kansas FFA Convention on the Kansas State University campus. Hawkins’ SAE is in Beef Production – Entrepreneurship. During her SAE experience, she learned new methods and technologies to improve her farm and cattle herd. After high school, Hawkins plans to attend Oklahoma State University to pursue a degree in animal science and is interested in studying feed nutrition and agribusiness. She wants to return to northwest Kansas and practice as a feed nutritionist for local feedlots, dairies and large swine and beef operations.

2018 STAR IN PLACEMENT Washington County FFA member Ryan Stewart was recognized as the State Star in Ag Placement, one of the association’s top honors, during the 90th Kansas FFA Convention on the Kansas State University campus. Stewart’s SAE is in Ag Sales - Placement. He has learned many skills while working with customers through his SAE. He helped determine what customers needed to operate their farm. He also operates the automated seed treating system. After graduation, Stewart joined a business to auctioneer and serve as a sales representative. He plans to become an operating partner in Stewart Seeds LLC while continuing to work as an auctioneer.

2018 STAR IN AGRIBUSINESS Scott City FFA member Emily Glenn was recognized as the State Star in Agribusiness, one of the association’s top honors, during the 90th Kansas FFA Convention on the Kansas State University campus. Glenn’s SAE is in Swine Production - Entrepreneurship. She has not only raised swine but expanded her herd over the last four years. Currently, her herd consists of three sows and one gilt. Glenn sells the show pigs and feeder pigs. In addition, she also owns and operates Glenn’s Show Feed where she sells cattle, goat, sheep and swine show feeds. Glenn has a line of base mixes and cattle minerals that she uses to create her various types of feed. She uses her own product to feed her swine.
