Congratulations to the Mora High School Graduating Class of 2015! The Mora Dollars for Scholars’ Awards Night was held on May 13, 2015. This was a very exciting year for Dollars for Scholars because we were able to increase our giving significantly. Through the donor’s generous support, 38 seniors received Mora Dollars for Scholars scholarships this year - a 41 percent increase from last year. Among these scholarships, five are 4-year renewable. In addition to the increase in the number of scholarships awarded, we were also able to increase the amount of each scholarship to $1,400. We graciously thank new scholarships this year which include: Robert Lincoln Memorial, Jack Gorham Memorial, Bob Gorham Memorial, Ann Sande Thoreson Memorial, Merlin Johnson Memorial, Bernard Nordenstrom Memorial, and the Rich and Kris Schultz Scholarship. In addition, Mora Dollars for Scholars added an additional 4-year renewable scholarship and the Fred and Jean Ahlgren Memorial added two additional scholarships. Mora Dollars for Scholars scholarships have been awarded to Mora High School seniors since the committee was founded in 1988. In the past 27 years, Mora Dollars for Scholars has awarded 880 scholarships totaling $978,250. The support and generosity of Mora citizens, alumni and businesses have allowed Mora Dollars for Scholars to give scholarships to help fund Mora high school students with the cost of higher education. Students who receive these scholarships are selected based on their grade point average, ACT test results and community and school involvements.
