A letter from the CHBA The CHBA-Central Interior’s partnership with TRU Trades and Technology is a golden relationship. Our 2016 Training House project recently won a Gold Georgie Award for the Best Public-Private Partnership in BC. You might also know the project as being the home that’s up for grabs in the annual Kamloops YMCA-YWCA Dream Home Lottery. TRU students involved in building the house can stand proud — the Georgies are the province’s premier housing awards. How many of us can say we were helping build a $636,500 luxury home when we were in college? A tip of the hat to Shaun Toplak of Absolute Homes, the Project Manager of the 2016 Training House. Next stop: 12-3100 Kicking Horse Drive in the Benchlands, the site of the 2017 Training Home.

How long have you been in business in Kamloops? Our company was officially formed in March of 2015, although my husband Ted and I have been working on construction projects together since 2001. What services do you provide? We are licensed residential builders and provide warranty on new builds and severely reconstructed properties, as well as providing great experience with renovations and demolition requiring abatements. What’s new for you in 2017? We have two new builds currently getting ready to go, with another two later this year, and an extensive renovation to a property downtown that I am particularly excited about. We were very proud to win gold at Keystones for best build in the $350,000-and-under category two years in a row and we are looking forward to the projects up ahead.

How long have you been in business in Kamloops? We have been in business since May 2005. What services do you provide? Our entire family moved to Kamloops from White Court, Alberta, almost 21 year ago when we purchased the Beaver Lumber store in Aberdeen, and proceeded to build the Halston Store in 2007. What services do you provide? Kamloops Home Hardware Building Center is a full-service hardware store and lumber yard. We provide all your building and renovation needs from the DIY’ers to the professional contractors. We can take your house from foundation to finishing. We also have our own production facility that manufactures doors, countertops, and anything else you can dream of for your home. What’s new for you in 2017? In 2017 we have partnered with Lyons Landscaping and NL Radio and refocused our community involvement, from our Neighbours Helping Neighbours to Grow a Row.
