“It’s on me now,” Yachison said. “Staying healthy is going to be huge and going up against whoever they draft is going to be another big thing. I pretty much have to beat out the draft picks. I’ve seen it done before. It’s not out of the realm of possibility.” Yachison’s chances of taking the next step will likely be boosted if Khari Jones, the Lions’ receivers coach, returns in 2016. He was the
offensive co-ordinator in 2014, but was demoted in 2015 when George Cortez was given the job by then-head coach Jeff Tedford. General manager Wally Buono took the head-coaching reins earlier this month, spelling the end of the line for Tedford and Cortez. Jones, the coach most familiar with Yachison, is among the candidates Buono is rumoured to be considering for the vacant
offensive co-ordinator gig. “Would love to see Khari get the job back,” Yachison said. “He has been one of the few coaches who has been around both years. I’m extremely comfortable with him and we have a good relationship.” Yachison is following in the footsteps of BCFC graduates such as Harris, Steven Doege, Whitman Tomusiak and Steven Shott, each of whom signed with the Lions
