Amy Bennie Amy Bennie is a Registered Veterinary Technologist who is a graduate of both the Animal Health Technology and Bachelor of Science programs at TRU. She has had a very diverse career, having worked in many highly specialized areas of veterinary medicine. Her background includes working in an exotics practice in Calgary, as a research technician at the BC Cancer Research Center in Vancouver, teaching in the Animal Health Technology program at TRU, and working as an anesthetist and surgical assistant at the BCSPCA Spay / Neuter Clinic in Kamloops. After 13 years as an RVT, Amy decided to seek employment in a veterinary practice where she would have more opportunity for a greater variety of hands on interactions with patients and clients. In January, Amy joined the team at the newly opened Aberdeen Veterinary Hospital in Kamloops. Amy has particularly enjoyed the opportunity to pursue her interest in Dentistry, and has attended several advanced training sessions in taking dental xrays and preventative pain control. Amy loves living in Kamloops and pursuing all of the outdoor activities that Kamloops has to offer. In her spare time she can be found hiking, camping, snowmobiling, and gardening.

Dr. Diane McKelvey Dr. Diane McKelvey has had a life-long love of cats. After graduating from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon in 1980, Diane moved to California to work at a feline-only practice in San Jose. Returning to Canada, Diane worked in veterinary practice in Ontario before settling into small animal practice in Kamloops over 20 years ago. In 2003, Diane decided to pursue advanced training in feline medicine. After passing the qualifying exams, Diane became one of only 6 Canadian veterinarians who are Board Certified as a specialists in Feline Practice, and is currently the only feline specialist practicing in British Columbia. In 2012, Diane took a 2 year break from practice to teach internal medicine at the University of Adelaide, Australia veterinary school. Returning to Kamloops in January 2015, Diane and Dr. Ken Gummeson opened Aberdeen Veterinary Hospital. Diane is pleased and excited to be back working in Kamloops, particularly as the Aberdeen Veterinary Hospital was recently recognized as a Gold Level Feline Friendly practice by the American Association of Feline Practitioners. In addition to teaching and practicing veterinary medicine, Diane has written several books and has been recognized with awards from the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association, the Ontario Ve t e r i n a r y Medical Association, the British
Columbia SPCA, and the BC Veterinary Te c h n o l o g i s t ' s Association.

V IRGINIA R OGERS J UDY B ASSO Virginia Rogers started Dolly’s Skin Art to help change the misconceptions of tattoos and tattoo studios. Tattoos often mark an important life event and Virginia offers free consultations to discuss details and co-create each client’s perfect design. She believes receiving a tattoo should be a positive experience. Many clients tell her they appreciate sharing the meaning behind their design ideas. Visitors to the studio have commented on how they love the bright clean look, reminiscent of a spa. Her studio is the relaxing setting where she cares not only about the tattoo process, but also about the client’s well-being. Once the tattooo is complete, she provides after care service and free touch-ups. Virginia’s artistic expertise spans 17 years and includes many art courses in various mediums. She worked with Community Futures too learn about running her own business. She has been tattooing for over four years and stays gh up to date by attending training through international tattoo conventions. During her first year, Virginia was ent nominated for two Business Achievement Awards. The studio is prominent on Facebook and Instagram, with dynamicc ant designs, amazing cover-ups and brilliant touch-ups.
Judy Basso Events is now in its 25th year of operation! In that time Judy has worked on many different types of events and has won award recognition nationally, provincially and by the local Business Excellence Awards. She is passionate about producing events ranging from the very large and elaborate to small and intimate. As time goes on, she has found her niche in producing specialized corporate events and fundraisers. She is very well known for her attention to fine detail and flair of creativity. What ever she puts her hands on seems to get that magic touch uch – the flair of a Judy Basso Event is noticed! iced! She is an active member of our community and loves living and operating her business in Kamloops. She is passionate about promoting and fundraising for the arts. The SPCAA receives a lot of her attention and support with events like the “Fur Ball”” fundraiser. Judy is also actively working on creating more events to support the community in more ways such as the White on White on White Party that will be taking place June 21, 2016. The event will have a new benefactor each year.
