A MESSAGE FROM LEE LINGO KAM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Welcome to the 2018 KAM State of Manufacturing Conference! As the new executive director of KAM, I’m excited to have the opportunity to work with such a dedicated group of people to promote Kentucky’s manufacturing sector. Kentucky is making great strides in its growth as a manufacturing state. We host world-renowned companies, innovators, inventors, educators, and leaders. We are only hours from most of the US population, have affordable and plentiful energy AND water, and are competitive with regional states for attracting and expanding businesses and have more jobs than people to fill them. In short, you can MAKE IT HERE, which is the theme of this year’s conference. KAM’s mission is to advocate, educate and connect the manufacturing community. Our conferences enable us to hit all three directives at once. This year’s conference is the first of many refreshed and new opportunities to engage with our community. It follows last year’s shift of focus back to manufacturing. Our KAM conference workgroup, comprised of nearly two dozen people directly in manufacturing roles or supportive of them, took a step back to provide a broader perspective. This year’s agenda focuses on many currently trending manufacturing, workforce and workplace issues as well as the importance of collaboration with community stakeholders and regional partnerships. We’re very excited about the line-up! Our conference is built by and for the manufacturing community and we hope that the topics and presenters plant ideas and provide opportunities to meet new people. These “happy collisions” are perfect places from which collaboration and innovation can spring. Thank you for being part of the commonwealth’s vibrant and thriving manufacturing community. Without your participation, feedback, attendance, volunteering, sponsoring and presenting, Kentucky would not have the strong support network and culture it has. Please tweet any information you feel relevant or appropriate using our hashtag #KAMmakeithere. We appreciate your continued commitment to KAM and Kentucky manufacturers!
