For Olivia

The winters day was coming to an end, and the brisk sun began to slowly slip away.

But one little Hedgehog had just woken up. He needed to find a new home and something yummy to eat, so off he went into the starry night.

The Hedgehog sniffed and snuffed, scurried and scampered, to find somewhere cosy to sleep before the sun rose up.

“A gap in the fence, could this be, a perfect home for little me?

The Hedgehog squeezed through and landed on wood. He looked all around and wiggled his feet,

“This isn’t comfy, warm or snug, and no such sight of even a bug”!

With a sad face he clambered on into the cold night, “An open gate, could this be, a perfect home for little me?

The Hedgehog crawled through and the grass was soft, All looked well, until...

“W ooo ooof f ff,

, p u d e d n ou

“no, no, no, this wont do I don’t want to be a toy to chew”!

After such a freight, he curled into a ball as tight as he could, spotting a hole to escape,

“A tiny hole, could this be, a perfect hole for little me?

The Hedgehog darted across the garden and scarpered into the next. He stopped, he caught his breathe and couldn’t believe his eyes...

“A mud patch full of treats, and a bed with leaves for sheets! This cosy box, clear to see is a perfect little home for me.

Once he’d filled his rumbling tummy with worms, lice and slugs, he snuggled up in his box, and warmed his icy nose.
