Augmented reality technology overlays various types of images onto real-world scenarios. One of the most well-known uses of augmented reality, or AR, includes the Pokemon Go app used to play the game on mobile devices. A more common example involves the guidelines displayed by a vehicle’s live stream camera when backing up. AR images are also displayed when an individual wears a specially designed headset, glasses or contact lenses. AR has many implications for the healthcare industry. Using a similar device known as Google Glass, surgeon Rafael Grossman M.D. performed gastronomy while wearing the headpiece, which also documented the procedure for live and future viewing.
