Dan and Jenny Moskowitz, who met in Manhattan after they graduated from college, are celebrating their silver wedding anniversary this year as well as their 25th year living in Chatham Borough where they raised two children.

Their daughter Megan, 23, lives in Manhattan after graduating from University of Arizona in 2018. She works in the city in media buying at advertising media giant GroupM. Their son Rob, 21, is interning at Prudential for the summer, and will start his senior year at Indiana University in the fall. Koda, a 2-year-old rescue dog, completes the family.

Dan and Jenny both work in Chatham— she from home as a consultant to the media industry and he, a certified financial planner, as president and chief investment officer of Chatham Wealth Management (www.ChathamWealth.com), a boutique investment firm tucked away in a pretty section off Main Street behind Serenade restaurant, that he founded 19 years ago with his stepfather.

“I never thought I would be doing this, but it made sense for both of us,” says Dan, sharing that in 1998 his stepfather who ran a wealth management business asked if he would join him in a potential partnership. The men agreed on an 18-month trial—by 2000, Chatham Wealth Management was formed. Four years later, his stepfather retired.

The firm specializes in investment management and financial/retirement planning for their clients. Chatham Wealth Management’s staff consists of six other employees, two of whom also live in Chatham. The firm’s portfolio managers have an average of 25 years of investment management experience.

It can’t get much better than a five minute commute to work. Dan, who worked in institutional fixed income at the former Bankers Trust Company, spent his first 10 years in Chatham traveling to Manhattan--needless to say he was happy to give up that part of his day. A great added benefit to working close to home? It’s given him the flexibility to be able to participate in plenty of community volunteer activities.

Over the years, lots of Chatham boys have known Dan as “Coach.” For more than 10 years, he coached youth baseball and football when his son played. Even after Rob graduated from youth sports to play ball at the high school, Dan continued to coach the 5th-8th grade age groups. And, now, he is coaching some of those boys as teenagers.

After Rob graduated from Chatham High School a few years ago, Dan had the honor of being asked to join the CHS coaching squad. He’s an assistant coach for the Chatham High School varsity team. He is responsible for the defensive line. But he hasn’t left the younger guys behind—he currently serves on the Chatham Youth Football Board.

Dan’s other volunteer activities in Chatham have included eight years on the joint recreation committee of the Chathams and six years as a board member of the Chatham Fish & Game Swim, Racquet & Social Club. An avid golfer, he is currently in his fourth year on the board at Fairmount Country Club.

Dan’s firm makes it a priority to be an active and supportive member of the Chatham community. Chatham Wealth Management has been a sponsor for the Chatham Education Foundation, the Chatham High School Athletic Boosters, the Chatham High School Baseball and Basketball teams, the Chatham High School Fashion Show, and recently they sponsored camp scholarships at the Madison Area YMCA.

Chatham Wealth Management also is one of the local businesses who participates in Chatham High School’s thriving Senior Internship Program, which is directed by Chatham High School teacher Sally Simonfay. Senior students report to their internship 25 hours per week during the last five weeks of school. For the last seven years, Chatham Wealth Management has provided an opportunity for our high school students to get some hands-on experience in the investment and financial planning world to see if the industry might be of interest to them.

Each year, two students join the staff of Chatham Wealth Management to soak it all in, experience working in the environment and ask questions. “They help out at the office, listen in on calls, sit in on staff meetings, work on spreadsheet projects and observe,” says Dan, noting that the high school’s program has really grown. “When it first started, 50 kids participated in it,” he says. Now, more than 200 students accept internships each year.

A typical day for Dan starts at 6 a.m. sitting at Chatham’s Drip drinking coffee and reading the news for an hour before heading a short distance to his office further down Main Street. The best part of living in Chatham? “It’s the people,” says Dan.

Who can argue with that?
