This session examines critical considerations in the design of future hospital physical environments and discusses the importance of design in improving patient safety and supporting patient-centered care.

Nichols, DHL, MS, RN, FAAN CEO, Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools Health care workforce migration offers better working conditions and quality of life to emigrants while creating labor shortages in countries that are losing workers. Explore the origins of migration and the challenges both developing and developed nations must address to ensure health care equity.

As a result, some payors are – and other are considering – adding coverage of health care services provided abroad for domestic plan members. 3:00-3:45 pm The Role of Technology and Health Care: What Is Needed and Can We Afford IT? • Marc Larsen Chief Operating Officer Health and Technology Center, Health Tech The influence of technology on health care is pervasive, ranging from information-related (electronic health records, billing systems, and bar coding) to procedure-related (inter-operative treatment rooms and robotics) to telehealth and remote patient monitoring. While technology can reduce costs and improve efficiency, the initial costs are high. Informed and strategic technology decision-making will be critical for hospitals in the future.
