Chingola born Mulaza Kaira alias Macky II ended 2013 on a high note when he launched his much anticipated ‘Zero to Hero’ album live with a band. Zero to Hero is Macky II’s third studio album after Ndimupondo and Legendary.

A menu of local artists such as Chef 187, Pilato, General Kanene, JK, Muzo Alphonso, T-Sean, Tiye P and many others were also there to show support to the Rapper.

His album has catchy songs such as ‘Google’, ‘Fwebabako Nifwe’ as well as ‘So Beautiful’ which have

Zone Fam, the four man group now signed on with Kenya’s Tauraus Music Record Company an alliance which has guaranteed their presence in other countries and has put them in a better position to do collaborations with international artist’s and will also enable them to form strategic partnerships abroad.

During 2012 and 2013 Zone Fam was on top shows like DJ Edu’s Destination Africa, BBC Radio 1’s Extra and Australia’s Radio Afro. all been enjoying some positive airplay on Radio Stations.

The album, Zero to Hero, which mainly contains conscious songs, addresses quite a number of issues including gender-based violence and unemployment. Indeed as the album name suggests, perhaps Macky II has moved from a ‘nobody to a somebody’ in the music industry.

Long gone are the days when he used to re-do songs such as Mims’ ‘This Why I am Hot’ or some of Jay Z’s hits.

They were also nominated as one of the Best Southern African Acts at the 8th Annual Nigerian Entertainment Awards.

Their sheer determination and ambition paid off as the groupwon last years Most Gifted Duo/ Group at the Channel O Africa Music Video Awards (CHOAMVA) held at the Walter Sisulu Square in Kliptown Soweto, South Africa. Thanks to their hit single Contolola.

Hip Hop artist Masauso Nkoma, fondly known over the years as Ruff Kid but now known as Ruff Kaida, had complained late last year that Zambians do not appreciate him and says he was created in the image of God even though most people say he is ugly. The BEFFTA Award Winning artist bitterly complained about the alleged lack of gratitude by the Zambian people despite being ‘good.’

Many people have said he imitates U.S Rapper Lil Wayne but he has on so many occasions said this is not true. In June last year, Ruff Kid scooped the Black Entertainment, Film, Fashion, Television and Art Award in the UK, which he has described as his greatest

achievement musically. The artist has wondered why he could not get the necessary recognition even after scooping such a prestigious award.

We at Juwels Magazine have listened to Ruff Kid’s new album and indeed it does not beat about the bush but hits the nail on its head. Further, his criticised Album Cover reflects the message in the songs. It is a great album and a must buy for Zambian music lovers. Word on the street is that Ruff Kaida as he wants to be known now, no longer feels part of his XYZ group. He feels he is being disrespected in the game even by his own crew members who think there are better than him when infact not even close. Ruff Kaida says he has been in the game way before anyone else. Further he stated that the song “Remember” by Slap D featuring Kantu is actually a stolen song which was originally done by him. In the song ‘Emu JUWELS MAGAZINE Nandi’ by Ruff Kaida off his new album, he claims the ‘Remember’ song was originally done by him and Kachanana and the only thing Slap D changed was the title from “Shalala” to “Remember”. Ruff Kid confirmed this on Zambia’s Radio Station Radio Phoenix.
