Nicola and Barry sat down and decided that with the New Year, they wanted to take the next logical step and get married. And so they did, with all the homely comforts of Nicola’s childhood home. She wore‌ Nicola wore an empire line dress by Ian Stuart which gathered in at the waist, and had a huge drape of fabric at the front. Nicola was accompanied by four adult bridesmaids who chose to match in pairs with dresses of deep emerald green. The two flower girls were dressed in pretty girl dresses.

Nicola recommends that to truly enjoy your day, you need to delegate the load of organisation to others and refrain from trying to do it all yourself. Nicola’s mum helped a great deal with arranging the day and Nicola was able to focus on the photographer and the dresses.
He wore…
Barry’s suit was of a monumental flocked velvet frock coat in black, whilst the other men wore black tails. His two nephews aged two and four were page boys.
The Ceremony…
The couple decided that they wanted to have a homely back-garden wedding and so licensed

Nicola’s parents’ garden for the day. “We had the ceremony under a gazebo and the reception in a marquee, so the celebration was very relaxed in the home that I grew up in.”
The celebrations…
The wedding party enjoyed a hog roast for the main course accompanied with salad and potatoes and had for dessert a chocolate fountain. During dinner, a harpist played gently in the background. Later on, the festivities continued with a disco and some good wholesome entertainment with an Elvis impersonator. Then the celebrations proceeded with a BBQ and the party advanced well into the early hours.
Personal touches…
Accompanying the familial setting was a host of personal features to Nicola and Barry’s wedding, which aided greatly in making the day extra special. Nicola’s Auntie made all of the
table decorations which consisted of hurricane candles sitting on a mirror, adorned with sparkles. The favours were made by a friend as a wedding gift, and the wedding cake was baked by a friends’ mother.
The Honeymoon…
As Nicola was pregnant at the time of their marriage, they decided to take a postponed honeymoon to Egypt for two weeks, a year later, with their new son.

How it all began… After being together for almost 13 years, Jon and Nicki were holidaying on the river Nile, when over a breakfast served by Jon, he produced a beautiful platinum ring and proposed. The Wedding… Both the ceremony and reception were held at
Nicki recommends that it is essential to stick to your guns because if you get too many opinions in the mix, it won’t be your own. You have to be adamant what you want and be selfish because it is your day.
Highclere Castle in Berkshire. Jon wanted to get married in a castle, and the explorers who discovered Tutankhamun’s tomb used to reside at the estate, so there was a close link with Egypt. As a backdrop to the wedding they had an amazing saloon with a minstrel’s gallery. “Music was a big part of the ceremony, so I walked up the aisle to The Final Countdown played by a solo trumpeter, which was greeted by much laughter from the congregation.” The Dress… Nicki’s dress was fitted and of a very light, ivory chiffon material.
