WENTWORTH FALLS (pictured): Set over three drops and falling 187 metres into the valley below, Wentworth Falls is fed by the Jamison Creek and is considered one of the region’s most majestic waterfalls. We recommend the

Charles Darwin walk, which starts from Wilson Park and leads you to the falls via open forest, hanging swamps, rock pools, cascades and picturesque Weeping Rock.

MINNEHAHA FALLS, KATOOMBA: You can hear the roar of water cascading long before you reach the popular swimming pool at the bottom of Minnehaha Falls, which requires a steep downhill walk through woodland and heath to reach. Surrounded by towering cliff s and shaded by bushland, this is the ideal spot to let your worries wash away.

LEURA CASCADES, LEURA: As you make your way downstream from the Leura Cascades Picnic Area, there are several vantage points that allow you to take in the ever-fl owing cascades before reaching the offi cial lookout, where the reward is outstanding views across the glorious Jamison Valley.

BRIDAL VEIL FALLS, BLACKHEATH: Descending 180 metres into the Grose Valley below, this spectacular waterfall can be easily viewed from Govetts Leap Lookout. For a closer view, follow king parrots and yellow-tailed black cockatoos along the 1.2-kilometre track, which leads to a perfect picnic spot at the base of the falls. It’s the perfect place to propose!

SILVER CASCADES, MOUNT VICTORIA: This magical swimming spot is a little tougher to access than most, but the stunning destination is worth the steep, 400-metre descent. As you head down the zig-zagging trail, remind yourself that the more challenging the access, the more private and peaceful the experience. BML Words: Lisa Doust. Photo: Jeff Davies Photographer.
