18.03.2022 Im August 2021 verstarb mit dem ehemaligen Trouble-Sänger Eric Wagner eine der Doom-Lichtgestalten der letzten 40 Jahre. Als Fügung des Schicksals hatte Wagner nur wenige Wochen vor seinem Tod seinem Debüt-Soloalbum ‚In the Lonely Light Of Mourning‘ den letzten Schliff gegeben. Es dient nun als definitiver Schwanengesang für eine der größten Stimmen des Doom Metal. Der Sänger hatte eine enge Gruppe von Freunden um sich versammelt, darunter ehemalige Trouble-Bandkollegen und Mitglieder der Post-TroubleActs Blackfinger und The Skull. Er nutzte sogar die breite Palette von Musikern, mit denen er die Bühne geteilt hat, um ein Album zu machen, das sich wie ein „Familientreffen“ anfühlte. Das Album fängt alle Epochen von Erics Karriere ein, die Tiefe des Albums wird durch resonante, melancholische Akustikgitarrenarbeit repräsentiert, die wuchtige Riffs und Erics unverwechselbaren Gesang ergänzt. Aber im Kern ist es Doom: erdig, ehrlich, grüblerisch und vor allem heavy - genau so, wie Eric es bevorzugte. ‚In The Lonely Light Of Mourning‘ zeigt sich Eric Wagner auch verletzlich in den Texten. Als habe es das Unheil lange kommen sehen!
