ACCOUNT SETUP

You should have received an email from applications@juniata.edu with the subject line, Juniata College Application Update, instructing you to log into your applicant portal to set up your EagleNet account. You will find instructions in the Status Update area at the top of your applicant portal. Once complete, this Juniata username and password will serve as your credentials for accessing your Juniata email and technology services on campus. Moving ahead, important communication will be sent to your new Juniata email account. Be sure to check your email regularly.

FINANCIAL PLANNING AND BILLING

Review the enclosed financial planning and billing guide. If you have not received it already, you will soon receive your financial aid offer in the mail. If you have any questions about your financial aid offer, contact the Office of Student Financial Planning at financialplanning@juniata.edu or 814-641-3142.

Using your Juniata username and password, review your bill on CASHnet. Instructions for accessing CASHnet can be found in the financial planning and billing guide. In CASHnet, you can authorize others, like your parents or guardians, to have access to your billing information, and you can also set up a monthly payment plan.

After June 15, you should waive medical insurance through the college if you have other insurance coverage. Please note: Visa Status Students are not eligible to waive Juniata insurance. The waiver must be completed at www.rcmdstudentbenefits.com by August 30 to have the charge for the College’s medical insurance removed from your bill.

ADVISING AND COURSE

REGISTRATION

You likely have questions about academic advising and getting registered for your first semester of classes at Juniata College.

Watch for an email in mid-May from advising@juniata.edu.

Follow the directions shared in that email so we can match you with an academic adviser and build your class schedule.

• If you are a first-time college student, complete the Class Scheduling Questionnaire by May 31 to receive your customized class schedule in mid-June. You will find this questionnaire in the mid-May email you receive from advising@juniata.edu.

• If you are a transfer student, an adviser will work with you to build your schedule after we have received your transcripts from your previous institutions.

Visit the First Year Academics webpage at juniata.edu/orientation to find instructions for submitting AP scores and college transcripts from other institutions. You will also find the steps to take to help us get you scheduled for your classes.

During Orientation, you meet with an adviser to answer any questions you may have about your schedule and make changes if necessary.

Prior to arriving on campus in August, you will need to complete our three online educational modules on alcohol use, healthy relationships, and equity, diversity, and inclusion. These online modules will be sent to your Juniata email account by July 1.

INBOUND

Inbound is a three-day immersive retreat designed to build social connections through fun experiences and learning about being a Juniatian. You and a small group of peers will be led by returning student leaders who are eager to help you transition to college, answer your questions, and have fun! Inbound is required for all first-year students because we know it can help you succeed academically, build skills and connections, and foster wellbeing.

Hear what students have to say about their favorite parts of Inbound:

“My favorite part of Inbound was being able to enjoy an activity that I already love with the added experience of doing it with new people.”

“Inbound helped me get more comfortable with dorm living on campus, I met so many new people and created bonds that made my social transition to Juniata much more enjoyable.”

“I’m so thankful for the opportunity as it made me feel less nervous about the school year since I now know some familiar faces.”

Beginning March 15, you can register for Inbound and have the chance to select your retreat preferences. Please visit juniata.edu/orientation to view retreat descriptions and get registered!

Session 1:

Friday, July 12–Sunday, July 14

(Directly following Orientation on July 12, families & supporters will depart after the Orientation session finishes.)

Session 2:

Sunday, August 18–Tuesday, August 20

(Move into your Campus Housing on Sunday. First-year student programming will continue after Inbound through the first day of classes on Thursday, August 22.)

*We ask families and supporters to depart campus while you enjoy Inbound. Juniata College is not able to provide lodging or transportation accommodations to them.

HOUSING

Beginning June 1, complete the New Student Housing Application and Roommate Profile Form through Eagles Nook, our housing software. Applications are due July 1.

Please take time to accurately fill out the form because housing assignments are based on the preferences that you indicate on your application. Our staff will work diligently to match you with someone with similar living preferences.

Housing assignments will be sent to your Juniata email account at the beginning of August. Find instructions for completing housing request information at juniata.edu/orientation.

DINING

All residential students have access to dining seven days a week. Commuter students wishing to purchase a meal plan can do so through Eagles Nook. Your meal plan will be loaded onto your Juniata Gold Card and ready for you to use when you move into your residence hall in August.

We recommend downloading the “FoodU” app from Parkhurst Dining Services where you can build a profile and view food locations across campus to access their daily hours, menus, and more!

TRAVELING TO JUNIATA COLLEGE AND HUNTINGDON, PA.

Huntingdon is a small town surrounded by a largely rural area, and there is important information to know about getting to campus. Travel by car is the easiest for traveling within the Huntingdon area.

By Car:

Rental cars from an airport may be the most reliable option and provide the most accessibility for getting to campus and around town. There is an Enterprise Rent-A-Car location on the edge of Huntingdon that has limited hours and options but provides a drop-off and pick-up option.

By Train:

Depending on your starting location, traveling by Amtrak train is one of the easiest accessible public transportation options. Amtrak’s Pennsylvanian route travels both directions daily from New York City through Philadelphia and across the state to Pittsburgh with a stop in downtown Huntingdon. The train station is less than a mile from campus, and we can pick you up with prior arrangement.

By Air:

If traveling by plane, the closest airport is State College. With prior arrangement when moving onto campus, Juniata can offer shuttle service from the following airports: State College, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, and Washington D.C. (Dulles, Reagan, BWI).

By Bus:

Traveling by bus can be another potential option. State College is the nearest stop location. There is a Greyhound Bus station and a Megabus stop in State College that offers travel options to both local Pennsylvania regions and to metropolitan cities. With prior arrangement when moving onto campus, Juniata can offer shuttle service from these bus stations to campus.

Ride Share:

Even though Huntingdon and the surrounding area lack ride share options, like Uber or Lyft, most of our students share rides with each other. You’ll likely become friends with someone who has a personal vehicle soon after arriving on campus that will help you get around.

Lodging in Huntingdon:

Below is a list of some common hotels and lodging in the Huntingdon area.
