Alberta’s Industrial 10 Heartland: A unique place to live and work Alberta’s Industrial Heartland is a geographic area and a regime of municipal plans and policies that encourages, facilitates, and plans industrial development while mitigating the impact of heavy industry. It does so under an “eco-industrial” philosophy reflecting the interests of the community, the environment, and industry, while contributing positively to partner communities and resident quality of life. The region itself is 533 square kilometres, or about 205 square miles in size, and is located within Greater Edmonton.
