The O’Malley family have enviable proficiency when it comes to building covetable homes.
Ryan is the owner of Little Tree Homes, known for building beautiful, sustainable homes in
the Matakana area, architecturally designed in collaboration with Glamuzina Architects. The family’s latest place to call ‘home’
is one of Little Tree Homes’ sustainable portfolio homes.
“We really wanted a family home that made
the most of the section space,” says Rachel. “A home that was stylish and architectural, yet without too much fuss.”

The O’Malleys have an affection for Point Wells with its family orientated, laid back vibe. “It feels like a real little village and there are just so many great people,” they tell us.

This build took a smooth nine months to complete and the couple were able to utilise their collective experience. “When you have been doing these [builds] for a while you tend to know all the areas where there may be hold-ups and work these into time frame plans.”

“The main things we learnt along the way is to build a home that you love,” Rachel tells us. “You need to hold it very lightly, have fun
or worry about your choices along the way too much.”
For them, the spaces needed to be big

working from home, or just hanging out in the garden. “The most important spaces to me
are always the kitchen and living and how this flows with the rest of the house,” she says.
“I always want this to be a central hub and to feel strongly connected to the outside. I
also love a beautiful bathroom, a good usable laundry and garage for storage.”
