Villa de Leyva This town is one of the most visited places in Colombia, it is located in the Eastern Cordillera and its average temperature is 18° Celsius (64° Fahrenheit). It was founded in 1572 and its architecture represents the colonial customs in the area. Villa de Leyva is known for its paleontological and archaeological history.

Rafting This sport can be practiced in the Fonce River, with up to level III rapids (beginners), or in the Chicamocha River where you can enjoy the view of the canyon with up to level IV rapids (experienced) or in the Suarez River with up to level IV+ (very experienced ).

Rappel Drive to the town of Curití, and then take an ecological walk to reach the top of a water fall. Practice an 80 mts high rappel with a beautiful view of the Santander Mountains.

Paragliding Depending on the season, Paragliding can be done in the San Gil area, which provides a great view of the Guanenta´s valley. One of the best spots in the country to practice this sport is La Mesa de Ruitoque, very close to Bucaramanga. This place in particular, allows taking off and landing in the same place and provides a beautiful view of Bucaramanga.

San Gil You will lodge in Barichara and our private vehicle will take you to San Gil for you to enjoy the extreme sports paradise in Colombia. San Agustín San Agustín is known for its historic landmarks and cultural treasures represented in the archaeological park and museums. The native communities, who lived in this region, practiced death rituals for their chiefs and warriors and buried them behind archaeological figures with all their belongings.

The Eastern Plains The Eastern Plains stretch through several departments in Colombia (Arauca, Casanare, Vichada, Guainía and Meta), and make up over a quarter of Colombia’s land mass. They are composed of a very low population density but immense biodiversity. The Eastern Plains are home to the Coleo Festival in which Colombian cowboys show their skills as horse and cattle riders. It’s an important part of the local culture, locals practice Joropo, the most well known musical rhythm of the area. Caño Cristales Caño Cristales is a Colombian river located in the Sierra de la Macarena, in the department of Meta. Being a small river, Caño Cristales is less than 100 km long and 20 km wide.

Santiago de Cali, the third largest city in Colombia is located in the western part of the country. It offers a warmer climate than Bogota, the average temperatura being around 79 degrees farenheit.

Medellin is Colombia´s second largest city with a bit over 2 million inhabitants and home to Camilo Villegas. It is known for its kind people and wonderful weather. Medellin also has sorrounding urban areas which are very close by, such as Rionegro where 2 of the golf courses are located and make a tourist´s stay very enjoyable. Extreme Sports

Mountaineering Because Colombia is crossed by The Andes Mountains, divided in three cordilleras (Western, Central and Eastern) there are several places to practice Mountaineering. The highest ones are Sierra del Cocuy with 5.330 mts. (17.486 ft.) above sea level in the Eastern range, EL Ruiz Snow Peak with 5.400 mts. (17.716 ft.) above sea level, and Tolima Snow Peak with 5.321 mts. (17.457 ft.) above sea level, within El Parque Nacional de Los Nevados (National Snow Peaks Parks) in the Central Range; and the highest ones in the independent system of La Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the Bolivar and Colon Peaks with 5.775 mts (18.946 ft.) above sea level. At El Ruiz Snow Peak it´s possible to go up to 4.800 mts (15.748 ft.) by car and not far from it, you can find lodging at El Cisne, within El Parque Nacional de los Nevados (National Snow Peaks Parks). Some programs can be taken by people with no experience but in general it´s necessary to have a good physical condition and a couple of days or more are needed at 3000 mts. Paragliding It´s a recreational and competitive flying sport. A paraglider is a free-flying, foot-launched aircraft. The pilot sits in a harness suspended below a fabric wing, whose shape is formed by its suspension lines and the pressure of air entering vents in the front of the wing (Wikipedia). Due to the mountains in Colombia, there are several ideal places to practice Paragliding and several certified clubs and operators around the country that offer courses and introductory flights in Tandem configuration. It can be practiced all year long, but it is best during the dry seasons. That is between December / March and July / October.
