moth house julia alencar | 2021 .2 architecture competition

// concept the design of the roof was inspired by a moth’s wings. opposing itself from an ordinary roof, the ridge converges to the inside of the house, allowing zenithal lighting. besides providing light into the room, the high openings work as an exsauster, expelling hot air that ascends. the final shape turned out simmilar to a resting moth’s wings.

// volume

// flow

the volume escalates, rising from the historical building until it reaches it’s highest point facing the railway. respecting the weight of history and evolving to create a new one.

the complex provides a new path to the train station, with two accessess: from the historical building and from the square’s main entrance on the corner of the street.
