Mabrianne Pryer NCCAA Women’s Golf Championships The women’s golf season continued as Mabrianne Pryer (SO/North Aurora, Ill.) represented Judson University as an individual golfer for the National Christian College Athletic Association Women’s Golf Championship. The tournament took place at The Hombre Golf Club in Panama City Beach, Fla., between October 23-26. Pryer represented the first women’s golfer to compete in the NCCAA Women’s Golf Championship for Judson. The championship featured a 54-hole stroke play event with the top 10 golfers on the women’s side designated as NCCAA All-Americans. Pryer led the Eagles during the Fall season as the top finisher for the team in all four events. Pryer’s best finish came during the NCCAA Regional Championship as she was sixth overall, and her best round score came during the same tournament as she shot a round one score of 87.

Bowling Rolls Out Inaugural Season

Cross Country Competes in NCCAA

The first men’s and women’s bowling season commenced at the Columbia 300 Western Shootout in Indianapolis, Ind. The tournament kicked off the first-ever organized bowling tournament for Judson University. The men finished 11th of 40 teams and placed two bowlers in the top 25 individually. The Eagles came close to finishing top ten overall, but tough lane conditions challenged the men in day two as they ended up just outside the top ten in 11th place. Austin Bull (FR/Rockford, Ill.) and Derek Poole (FR/Rockford, Ill.) put together great games as they finished individually 16th and 21st, respectively. Bull shot a 1,239 through six games for an average of 206.5, and Poole shot a 1,205 through six games for a 200.8 average. “It was definitely a great tournament for them, and I’m very proud of them,” said head coach Astrid Valiente. “They have been working really hard and putting their heart [into] practice. This team has the motivation and dedication to achieve big things, and I can’t wait to see their first win.” The Lady Eagles finished 30th of 38 teams in their first-ever collegiate tournament. The men brought home their first tournament win of the season in Grandville, Mich., and two bowlers received individual awards. They were: Austin Bull (third place with a season high 226 average) and Tyler Zink (fifth place with 220 average). The women went on to their best finish of fifth place. Amanda Walker had the highest average with 197 in the individual portion. The most outstanding performance was made by Blanca Perez with an impressive filling rate 94 percent (only two open frames in 32 attempts) for the baker games. The Judson bowlers continue the season through February 2017 with sectional qualifiers and NAIA Individual Team Championships to take place at the end of March into April 2017.

The men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the 44th and 36th annual National Christian College Athletic Association Championships that took place in Jackson, Miss., in November. The Eagles put together great races with both teams finishing in the top 10 overall of more than 15-plus NCCAA Div. I schools. The women’s team finished eighth overall and has competed in six of the last seven NCCAA National Championship races. The women tied their best finish of eighth place Saturday afternoon. Leading the way for Judson was Chloe Burkhart (FR/Elgin, Ill.), who finished 32nd overall with a time of 19:48. Guadalupe Machuca (SO/Carpentersville, Ill.) and Kristi McClure (SR/ Wilmington, Del.) finished 48th and 49th, respectively with times of 20:39 and 20:42. Cleaning up the top five was Lacey Heaver (JR/ Woodstock, Ill.) and Anali Cisneros (FR/Elgin, Ill.), who finished 54th and 57th, with times of 20:50 and 20:53. All top five Eagles finished under 21 minutes and tallied a team time of 1:42.55. The men’s team finished ninth overall and has competed in five of the last seven NCCAA National Championship races. The Eagles tallied their third best finish last Saturday. The only other two finishes included an eighth-place finish in 2015 and a seventh place finish in 2011. Robert Bruns led the Eagles with a 33rd-place overall finish with an 8K time of 27:21. Joseph Siporski and Daryle Worley rounded out the three top 50 finishes by Judson with 36th and 40th place, respectively. Caleb Fletcher would finish 69th overall with a time of 28:31, and Matthew Mallary was the last top-five finisher with a time of 28:32 — good for 71st place. The team finished with a time of 2:19:24.
