SANTE has been JCU’s global health club since 2007. Our events focus on climate health, sexual & reproductive health, human rights & refugee health rights, and public health advocacy – we work with external organisations i.e. Amnesty & Townsville multicultural support group, Australian Medical Students Association CAMSA. Some of our highlights include: Palm Sunday Rally (with painting with puppies for poster-making) and red week (reproductive health week), which has a mix of social events and clinical skills events. We are not medicine exclusive, we welcome anyone to come to our events!

Society of Manga, Anime and Gaming

SoMAG is an all-ages club about anime, manga, and gaming – pretty much all pop culture and nerdy passions are welcomed. We have weekly events on Wednesday to socialise, watch anime and play games. Once a month we have games nights, and we run a Cosplay Night yearly.

This year is the 20th anniversary of the club, and we are proud of what SoMAG has been able to do for the students at JCU and the greater community. We have in past years - and hope to continue to in future years - hosted the Townsville Japanese film festival, held cosplay visits for the children’s hospital, developed the eSports building at JCU, assisted children with learning disabilities, and collaborated with other JCUSA clubs.
