inspiration Leaves slowly fall as you stroll down a wooded footpath. The sounds and colours of autumn awake the senses. Puffs of wind blow through the trees, intensifying a light chill in the air. A patchwork of mossy greens, burnt oranges and myriad shades of brown create an impressionist atmosphere. This is the inspiration 4

C R AF TSM A NSHIP Each pair of our shoes pays homage to a bygone era—a time when handmade shoes were the standard. In this massproduced, ‘I need it yesterday’ world, J SHOES takes the time to design, engineer and handcraft shoes that please the eye and comfort the soul.
J SHOES is committed to the philosophy of continual improvement. We strive to make every pair of shoes better than the last. Each stage of the manufacturing process is meticulously planned by our development team and supported by hours of thorough research. Extensive testing and trials go in to perfecting our uppers and handmade sole units. Our leathers and fabrics are sourced around the globe, selected for their one-of-a-kind colours and textures—all of which contribute to the originality of each pair of our shoes. Our team of highly trained craftsmen elevate shoemaking to an art form. Whether it’s to hand-burnish or stitch, cut or split, trim or buff, stain, wax or polish—up to 75 pairs of hands may contribute to the creation your unique pair of J SHOES.
Let us walk you through the making of our proprietary Guild Sole, a signature upper and outsole used on the Viceroy, Mason, Rite and Fellow styles. It takes 75 craftsmen—and a total of 85 different steps—to make this particular handmade sole.

c u TTIN G Quality leather is made from cow skin sourced from Argentina. The leather is treated and cut using cutting dies and a press to punch out various pieces that will make up the sole and heel.

SPLITTIN G Leather skins vary in thickness so each needs to be reduced to maintain consistency.

STIT C HIN G Layers of cement are used to apply the natural rubber pads by hand, adding a unique feature on a leather sole, an optimal grip for wet surfaces.

REFINED HERITAGE This Autumn/Winter collection has the perfect style for anything the season has to throw your way. J SHOES strives to provide comfort and flexibility whilst combining the elements of classic styling with a J SHOES 16
twist. Brogues, chukka boots and oxfords are a focus in the line that strives to highlight the quality leathers and detailed craftsmanship in each style. The Viceroy, Mason, Rite and Fellow are part of our Guild Range, with a unique leather sole with rubber insert. This hand crafted style performs like a rubber sole shoe with the looks and refinement of a fine leather sole.
