Quilted Clucth
Our new quilted clutches are crafted by women associated with an NGO located in Gujarat, a rural region in Western India. Climate allows for seasonal agricultural opportunities. Due to this region’s depleting resources, family members generally migrate elsewhere to find work opportunities. Craftwork, such as quilting, has allowed women to stay in community and earn higher, more stable income while also managing agriculture and other housework. With increased income, women have gained social status within their families and community. Training, product development and capacity building are just a few ways this NGO is working towards the economic and social changes of women in this area.
