As co-counsel in the case, Alexander represented 10 counties and cities in California that were trying to get paint companies to remove the lead paint from hundreds of thousands of homes in the area. In January 2014, they succeeded when a state judge in Santa Clara County ordered the three companies to pay $1.15 billion into a fund to be used for that purpose. Along with her co-counsel, she was honoured by the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association and the Public Justice Foundation as “2014 Trial Lawyer of the Year.” Ms Alexander has been repeatedly named one of the “Top 10 Trial Attorneys” in the Bay Area by the San Francisco Chronicle. The California Daily Journal named her one of the Top 100 Most Influential Lawyers in California and one of the Top 30 Women Litigators as well as one of the Top 50 Women Litigators. She has been named a Northern California Super Lawyer each year since 2006. She was inducted into the Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame by the California State Bar Litigation Section in 2012. Her legal work has also previously been recognised by the Consumer Attorneys of California, which awarded her two of its top honours— the Marvin E. Lewis Award and the Edward I. Pollock Award. In July 2013, she received the American Association for Justice’s top award, the Leonard Ring Champion of Justice Award. She also currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Crime Victim Bar Association. Ms Alexander’s reputation for steadfast commitment to the protection of consumer rights is well-known throughout the United States and has an outstanding record of success and achievements.
