What is a Cataract? Your eye has a natural lens that bends, or refracts, light rays as they enter your eye. This refraction allows you to see clearly. When you’re young, your lens is clear. As you age, the lens becomes yellow, cloudy, and dense. This is a cataract. With a cataract, your vision will become increasingly blurry, hazy, or less colorful. You may feel as if you’re looking through a dusty windshield. However, you may not notice much at all. Many patients report after having cataract surgery that they simply forgot how clear and colorful the world truly is.
