WHO WE ARE We are an American Drill Bit manufacturing company that specializes in manufacturing Roller Cone Drill Bits. What makes us different, is that GT is the only design and manufacturing company in the USA fully dedicated to producing Rotary Blast Hole Drill Bits.

We strive to produce rugged, dependable, quality bits that result in the best possible drilling performance for our customers. We recognize that our customer’s satisfaction determines our success.

Our ability and willingness to work directly with our customers to generate customized solutions is our advantage in the open pit segment of the mining industry.

HISTORY

A brief look at how we got started in the industry.

OUR STORY In 1946, Errol Glenn Gault, patriarch of the Gault family business, pioneered the first jetted rock bit. This patent, (#2,524,428), created a major shift in the down-hole bit industry and revolutionized the hydraulics at the bottom of the hole.

This emerging technology helped pave the way for the Gault family business, Gault Tool, Co., to begin operations in 1957.

In 1960, with the passing of Errol, the bit patent and family business were entrusted to his son, Tom Gault. Tom expanded the business and its’ capabilities as he took GT to greater

heights of success. What began as a small fabricating shop in Allen, OK is now a full-service manufacturing facility in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

In 2018, GT was acquired by the oil and gas capital firm, Prestige Capital, LP. GT plans to keep the original name and strives to uphold the family legacy and standards set by the Gault family. GT looks forward to its future of providing the highest quality rock bits on the market with special service you will only find in a family business.

GAULT TOOL TIMELINE

1980

1966 Incorporated Gault Tool Company built new facility in Ada, OK and began manufacturing drag bits, subs and fabricated hole openers.

1957 Gault Tool Company began operations.

1950s

1960s

Began Manufacturing Tri-cone Open Bearing Mining Bits with license from Hughes Tool.

1976 Installed State of the Art Heat Treating Facility.

Began manufacturing oilfield quality tri-cone bits sizes 3-7/8” – 12-1/4.”

PREMIUM STEEL

STATE OF THE ART BEARINGS

Premium alloy, bearing-quality steel is used for construction of the head and cones which minimize impurities and maximize toughness.

Custom designed profiles and premium bearings result in for maximum bit performance.

SPECIALLY FORMULATED GREASE

CONTROLLED HEAT TREAMENT

GT uses a unique grease blend that is degassed to prevent pressure build up in high heat conditions.

GT employs a computer controlled heat treatment process that ensures consistent bit quality.

ELASTOMER SEAL RING

CENTER HOLES

GT O-ring seals are individually molded out of proprietary rubber. All O-rings are rigorously inspected for size, shape and hardness before being placed into the bit.

Additional circulation can be obtained by putting a hole in the middle of the drill bit.

This is a standard feature on all of our sealed bearing air circulation bits.

CUTTING STRUCTURES

PROTECTION

Tungsten carbide inserts are the main cutting structures used on GT Bits. These inserts, also known as Compacts, are pressed into holes drilled into the cone surface.

GT Bits feature multiple options for cone and arm protection to extend the life of the bit and provide optimal performance.

For each section of the cutting structure, there are different types of compacts that may be used, depending on the strength of formation to be drilled and the objectives of the application.

Varying degrees of gauge and shirttail protection are are available to ensure the bit has the correct level of defense needed to perform against any application.
