David: Hi, this is David Perdew from the Niche Affiliate Marketing System and this is our Deep Dive session #13. We’re doing 27 of these before NAMS6 in August and you see on my screen here or maybe you don’t see on my screen yet. Now, you see on my screen here, the NAMS6 workshop page. If you haven’t checked that out, you really need to. NAMS6 is coming up in August 18th to 22nd. The workshop itself is actually 19th to the 21st, three days but we have some events happening on Thursday as well, and we have events on Monday which we always have a great time on Monday following up and doing a lot of networking and it’s a very emotional, very intense weekend and we do instruction all week along in four separate channels.. Those channels being beginner: beginner one, intermediate and advance and we let yourself select where you fit based on the criteria. But after you’re involved in the forum and the other places, you can pretty much tell where you need to be in the workshop series and that way, we help people grow from the beginning of their business all the way to making a living online, a good living online as many of our advance students have, and we have people who come through all four tracks and it’s been very successful because we focus on teaching. So tonight, Terry Dean is with us and I just feel honored that we have Terry Dean participating in the NAMS workshop this time and he participated in our NAMS5 webinar series as well, and Terry is one of the originals in the Internet marketing world, and was one of the first guys to really prove that you can make a great living online. In fact, Terry was one of the early Internet millionaires who I believe Terry, you retired for awhile and then, came back and are now focusing on teaching people how to really convert visitors into business and that’s what we’re going to talk about tonight is conversions. While I’m making this introduction, I’m going to switch the screen over to Terry and he’s going to walk through these slides for you tonight. Now, Terry is a fast talker like I am and so, you need to pay attention closely and we will be buzzing right through. Terry, welcome. Terry: Thank you for having me here. I wanted to make sure that ‘cause I have two big monitors and I didn’t want us to be one little tiny square for nobody to be able to see anything. David: Right. Terry: So okay, and I’m going to move very fast tonight. I want to let everybody know that I want to see you at NAMS. I want to see you at the live event in August where there’s going to be some points in this presentation that it’s going to seem like I’m moving a little too fast and that NAMS will get to dig in a little bit deeper on those points. We’ll get some more examples. We’ll show how the different element work and possibly even look at it using some of the attendees, using their information and putting it together. So that’s what we’ve been looking at in the future. So, just hold on tonight as we move very quickly in this and we talk about conversions, because my goal tonight is to help you boost your conversions, your subscribers, your customers and your profits on any website in 15 minutes or less by the end of this webinar. So that means that after the end of this webinar, I want you to be able to take the information I gave, look at your website, spot some missing pieces in your website and then, prove it within 15 minutes. I know because it helped many people do that before. So that’s the goal. That’s what we’re going to be doing for you tonight. So, the promises by the end of this, you’re going to know exactly what causes people to click, to subscribe and to buy from your website. We’re going to be making it very simple tonight, so that you can really see what causes the click and what causes people not to click, and the other part of my goal is I want to eliminate the confusion about why people are yet responding to your site, your e-mails and your offer because that’s probably the biggest blank I get all the time David is people will say “Well, I’m promoting all these offers. I know that there are site converts but I’m still not getting any sales.” I mean, how many times have you heard that? David: A gazillion. Terry: I hear that all the time. David: Right. Terry: So, we’re going to be really showing you why people are responding by the end of tonight’s session. Now, I do have one request is that at the end of this as you can expect, I will make an offer to you. I want you to pay attention. I want to give you all the free information I can tonight and then, if this information really fits with you, if you know that it’s really going to help you then, I want you to consider the offer that I’m going to make at the end. But up to that point, that’s all we’re going to say about that. For now, we’re going to go through. We’re going to give you hardcore information to use on your website tonight. Now, if you’re like most people, you’ve seen tons of different things you need to do in your affiliate business. You need to write e-mails. You need to do blog post. People are telling you “but you need to be on Facebook.” You need to be on Twitter. You need to be doing all these different things in your business and what I found is it’s really impossible to keep up. You can’t stay on top of everything. It’s impossible to stay on top of everything. It’s impossible to do all as much to learn everything that there is to know about Internet marketing. I’ve been doing this for over 15 years now and I still don’t know everything there is to know about Internet marketing. What I do know is I know how to convert visitors into subscribers. I know how to convert visitors into customers and that’s what we’re going to be talking about tonight, because if you can do this part, if you can convert visitors then, everything else is empowered. Everything else that you do becomes much more powerful and so that’s what we’re looking for tonight is I want to turn your traffic. Basically, I want to turn up the volume or in fact, I want to turn up the income you earn from every visitor to your site. That’s our goal. Before I got started back in 1996, I was delivering pizzas for a living. So that’s where I came from was delivering pizzas and besides that, I had tried door to door sales. Terry Dean: Boosting Your Conversions those little stuff animals. Hey, you want this little stuff animal and you can sign up for our credit card. That job for quite awhile even deliver newspaper for awhile. That’s what I was doing before I came online and I had tried all different types of things such as direct mail, network marketing and everything else before I came online. And then, basically in 1996, I heard of the story that a few people were succeeding online. I came online at that point in time and I am so thankful that this was what I focused on from the very beginning. I focus on going back to what we seen were the experts previously: people such as J. Abraham, people such as Gary Halbert, the people who really talked about conversions in direct mail. They talked about conversions offline, listening to other people who are salespeople offline and I listened to those messages and I really ingrained what they taught into me and that held me through, through all this period because there were other people who started the same time as me but they didn’t stick around. They didn’t stay through the ups and down that the Internet has or we had the dot com crash and grow and a drop again. We’ve had so many different changes online since then. But I’ve been able to stay through all of this because I focus on conversions from the very beginning. So, I’m so thankful that that’s where I focus in the business. I have earned as much $96,000 from a single e-mail to my list. Now, it takes time to build up a list like that. It took me time to build up a list that can make $96,000. But still, that just shows the power of the conversion when you build up a list, you build up the relationship and you know how to convert the visitors and subscribers in the best stores. I want you to think about as we go through this is what type of Internet lifestyle you want in your life. What is it that you want from your affiliate business? What is it that you really want? Do you want to spend more time with your kids? Is it more money that you want to make? Is it that you want to replace your job? Think about what that is that you want and then, understand that really only good conversion system from reaching that. That’s what keeps you from reaching this and I like to use these two photos here. We have a Ford Pinto and we have a Porsche and there are going to be people tonight on this webinar that some of you have websites that operate like a Ford Pinto. Other ones have websites that operate like a Porsche. They are smoothly moving, all your customers straight into the affiliate offers. Terry Dean: Boosting Your Conversions you to think about this. You are one good conversion system from success and I know that every client that I’ve ever work with that’s exactly where they were at. They were one good conversion system from success. A lot of people, they like to focus on “well, we just need more traffic.” More traffic is good. But if you can convert the traffic in the sales for anything that you’re promoting then everything has more value. You can spend more on traffic. You can hire and outsource more, work to other workers to get more done in your business. Everything becomes more profitable. I’m sticking that way. You are one good conversion system from success and every client I’ve worked with, what ended up happening is eventually they would find the system that works. They would find the system of converting visitors into customers for whatever it is that they’re promoting and that’s when they found that, they would take off. Their business took off from that point and they build from that point on because conversion is the engine that powers everything else you do in your business. If you can generate a higher income per visitor then, your competitor is even the other affiliates but I work with at least two clients that we built them conversion systems and markets where they were converting the visitors that came to their site much better than the merchant site was. We got them into pay per click heavier than the merchant site ever could even with all the rules that AdWord had against affiliates, we still were able to build a much stronger conversion system putting people onto their list first going to their conversion system selling much higher than the original company because we work on the conversion system first. You can dominate any media you choose if you can develop the conversion of system. So, the simple truth is you don’t have a traffic problem. As much as you might think you have a traffic problem. What you really have is you have a conversion problem. Conversion solves traffic problems. Basically, it turns on the green light. If you can get the conversion, you can get the traffic.

As an example here, one of the clients that I worked with was Lee McIntyre. When he first came to me, his business was doing $7,000 to $10,000 online. We primarily work on conversion in his business. We took him from the $7,000 to $10,000 up to $20,000 a month and then, we took him all the way up to $100,000 by focusing on the conversion element. Once you had the conversion element in place, everything else was easy. The traffic is much easier if you can convert those visitors into subscribers and customers. This is an example here. The good news is you don’t need to be a writer to convert visitors and the income today. In fact many times, it’s even easier if you’re not a writer because the less that you personally write, the more you can make. So, I’m going to say that again, the less that you personally write the more that you can make and this is something that people don’t understand when it comes to conversion because there’s a term out there that being a copywriter or copywriting and a lot of times, people will say “Well, it’s just finding the right magic words coming up with this great, brilliant, inventive, imaginative words that are going to produce sells at my website. So, I need a copywriter to do that for me.” What you don’t realize is the best copywriters what they really are, it’s really a misnomer and I even say that copywriting is a myth because the best copywriters aren’t the best writers at all. They’re the best listeners. They’re copy listeners. They learn to listen to what customers are saying online and there are so much free information online out through social media sites and all different types of sites that customers are sharing their exact feelings about products and services that everything you produce in your site, all your conversion materials can come directly from things that you see people already saying about the product or service. I want to do one quick introduction to a partner that’s in the conversion code product project with me. His name is Dr. Glenn Livingston. He works for the Fortune 500 companies. He worked with them as a consultant. Companies such AT&T, American Express and many others doing research for them and the reasons I wanted to introduce him real quick here is because I’m going to show you a couple research methods that I learn directly from him.

Terry Dean: Boosting Your Conversions So, these are his methods that I learn that I’m going to share with you to show you how to get more information. When he came online, he basically can make assess almost immediately with the 17 different niche markets successfully. Several of those, he did with his own products and a couple of them, he did with some affiliate. But he went into this many different markets selling little $10 ebook starting out because he knew how to do his research. So, let’s talk a little bit about the kinds of research that I mean for you to go in and do. The first one I want to give you is a site called tweetgrid.com. We had more time. We spend more time on this tonight. We will hopefully get to spend a lot of time on this at the NAMS workshop in August. But tweetgrid.com, what it does is let you search Twitter and updates in real-time for what everybody is saying constantly about whatever the subject is and I want you think about Twitter as this. Twitter is where people are constantly saying basically yelling out loud everything they’re thinking about a subject all day long. So, whatever it is the subject that you’re offering, there are people talking about it right now. There are people saying things about it right now and you can use TweetGrid to keep track of it. TweetGrid summary is I want you to come up with what you consider the two most important keywords; two important keywords that people would be talking about in your market. For example, for the NAMS media, we might look for maybe they are already talking about NAMS. So that might be won awards. Another one will put it as affiliate marketing to be the other keyword that we would put in and TweetGrid just do it two times when you’ll see that when you go to the site, a two times one. That’s the kind of grid you’ll start with, and what you can do is you will watch the conversations that take place One quick tip here; you will see some people who are promoting products and services and in general, I in my own mind filter those out. So, if somebody is putting a post and a link to an ad or a sales letter, I felt throughout those comments ‘cause what I’m specifically looking for is I’m looking for someone who is just in the market and they’re just thinking about the subject. Terry Dean: Boosting Your Conversions I want to show you an example of one of this that was going on into the search. I did a search on or actually, this one came from Glenn as well is we just search on premarital counseling. In premarital counseling, you could see few things that people were saying.Premarital counseling starts the day. I’m nervously excited. Just finished our premarital counseling session, one more to go. I love that woman more each day. I firmly believe that if you’re engaged then don’t seek premarital counseling to articulate needs. You will be seeking divorce intervention. And then, we have premarital counseling, there is an act for that. So that’s some of the statements that people were saying at the time. Then, we look at this and what if we do something like this. I want to show you how you could turn what other people said into highly effective copy on your website. Someone said premarital counseling, there’s an act for that. Again, you can see the four ones I just read off. We could turn into conversion copy by simply saying premarital counseling? Unfortunately, there’s no act for that. It’s a vital process for articulating needs, exposing all the love in your partner’s heart and most importantly, preventing divorce. Today is the time, we’ll turn into nervous excitement after just one session guaranteed. That’s an example of conversion copy if you are promoting the premarital counseling service and you’ll notice that what we did there is all the major words came directly from what people already said. We just took what they said and we put it together. We put a nice, strong statement, a very strong statement together by what others have said and you can see the process. This is something anybody can do because what did we really do, we barely wrote anything. We didn’t write any of our own. The mistake that everybody make is they start with a blank page. A blank page is horrible. A blank page is hard to work for and that’s probably when you started previously is you probably started trying to use a simple blank page to create words to your website. Instead, find out what others are saying and use that. Let’s show this again. We have again the version that we just had straight from others people tweets on the right. Terry Dean: Boosting Your Conversions So, we’re using the same statement again. On the left side, if we were just writing that out, isn’t this pretty normal for what you see for someone to write out? Well, we covered some of the benefits just like we were told to cover the benefits. I’m sure if you ever heard anything about copywriting, they said “hey, you need to cover the benefits, deal with the benefits.” Well, they’re all there but it’s so much more a lie taking the words and phrases that people are really using. Basically, you’re speaking directly to their heart instead of to their head and that’s the mistake that everyone makes is they’re trying to write to people’s heads instead of to their hearts and so, this is a simple method we can use. So, this is again tweetgrid.com. So, tweetgrid.com is where you can find this type of information and spend some time there. So, you would sit there and say 15 minutes, 20 minutes watch all the different pieces come, take off notes, copy and paste little notes over to your notepad and after you spent time and you’ve seen all types of comments like this then, you’ll put it together into your conversion copy. So, it’s not that you write. It’s you using phrases that have already been used. Let me show you another example, another free tool that’s out there. YouTube, I’m sure you know there’s a YouTube. I’m sure you’ve used YouTube at some point. What we’re going to do here is we’re going to show you how to produce a strong headline based off of YouTube. We’re going to write our headline using YouTube videos, simple and easy process. So, we’re just going to put it together. We’re going to collect them. So, what we’re going to do here is we’re going to search YouTube for two of your most important keywords. What we’re going to look out on YouTube is we’re specifically going to look for frequently viewed relevant videos so, videos that are relevant to our search. We want to look for one that has a lot of viewers. We’re going to copy and paste their titles over into our notes and then, we’re going to crop and use a tested and proven headline based on this viral video files. We’re not going to copy any of them word for word. There’s an old statement that plagiarism is when you copy from one source. Research is when you copy from multiple sources. We’re going to find multiple proven sources here and we’re going to crop the headline out of it instead of producing our own. So, let’s get into this.

Terry Dean: Boosting Your Conversions Let’s assumed that we’re promoting for a natural herpes remedy that’s what we’re going to promote, a natural herpes remedy. We’ll do the search for that on YouTube and then, we will look at the titles of the videos. Now remember, it’s real important here that you don’t watch the videos themselves and you’ll specifically want to look at what comes up on the left side of the screen because just like on Google, on the right side, you’re going to have some advertised videos. We don’t look at the advertise ones because advertise ones, they’re paying for it. This isn’t because we astound them and continue watch them and recommend them and so, don’t look at the ones on the right. We’re going to look at the ones on the left side of page. What we’re going to do is we’re going to leave the fold search options and then, we’re going to search all types and look at what we end up finding. It might be a little tough to see on this. But we see at the very top, is there a herpes carrier part 1 of 2. The second one is herpes cure herbs and that one has 33,697 views and then, we have the cure for herpes, the secret doctor develop cure at 23,040 views. That’s what we’ll see at the very top in the relevance. So, this is what people are clicking on. This is what people are watching. So once we do that, remember we’re not watching the videos ‘cause that will slow you down. That’s the main reason we don’t want to watch the videos. We don’t want to get slowdown. So, we’re going to record all the winning titles and then, we’re going to assemble a headline that includes all of these titles in it. That’s how we’re going to put together. So, we have herpes cure herbs. Is there a cure for herpes? Cure for herpes, the secret doctor develop cure. So, those are the ones we found. So here’s our title: herpes herbal secret cure, the doctor develop cure and you’ll see that all the words used are somewhere in these titles. All the words were basically just put them together. The doctor develop cure gives it a lot of proof and credibility to the headline. That could be a title of a post on a blog. That could be a title of an e-mail. That could be a title of an article. So that’s what we came up with our title for whatever we’re doing for the promotion that we’re running ‘cause we put it right from the top producing videos in YouTube. Terry Dean: Boosting Your Conversions do the same type of thing and there’s a lot of different little strategies you can do like this to find the exact information that what’s already working ‘cause here’s the key point. We want to find what customers are already saying or what customers are already feeling, what’s already successful. We’re looking to reproduce success. That’s our goal. These are just a couple of free methods that you can find the exact viral language and I took this quote from Glenn as well because Glenn used to do this with the big companies. He used to do their research. He used to do reports for them and all the research they needed and big companies would have paid $250,000 for the same type of research. We can do online for free. If you spend days on this, you spend the time in this, you’ll actually put it in the practice and use it. They would spend a fortune on this type of information to pass it and you can do it for free. So that’s just the beginning. That’s how we do our researches. It’s not about your writing ability. It’s about your listening ability online. It’s about putting in. At least sometimes, you go in and listen and see what’s working. You’ll see neither one of those strategies take that long to do. They can both be done very quickly. You just have to be willing to do it. Spend a little bit of time playing out what’s already working. The fact is that marketing has changed today and this is something that everybody seems to be ignoring. Human nature doesn’t change but how we communicate does change and those who stubbornly stick to the old methods, they stick to the old messages, the old marketing tools that we learned in the past including when I first came online, I learned from all the experts that came before me and that’s what was working in the beginning. Whatever the past few years, I’ve seen time and time again that what used to work isn’t working today and you will hear people talking about this all the time that their sites are converting like they used to. Things aren’t working the same and that’s because how we communicate is changing. Social media has changed conversion and it is change in conversion. So that’s something I want you to think about. I want you to look at this little quiz, a quick little quiz. So, we’re not going to spend a long time here. But if you’ve been online for at least two years, so this applies if you can spend at least two years online and this could be as an affiliate. This could be as a promoter. This could just be going online and buying.

Terry Dean: Boosting Your Conversions But you spend a lot of time online in the last two years. All these are true or false questions. Do you feel it’s harder to concentrate for long periods today than it used to be such as sitting down and reading a novel? Is that harder today than it used to be for you? I can tell you, it’s definitely hard for me and it’s harder for almost everyone I’ve spoke to who has been online for at least two years or more. It’s harder to concentrate on one subject for longer period of time. That’s a negative for how the Internet has changed our brain. But here’s a positive. Number two, you got much quicker at scanning, skimming and finding information quickly on a webpage. Now, I know that if you look and ask yourself that question, you’re much quicker and if you don’t realize how much quick you are, take someone who’s a beginner to the Internet. Take them to a website maybe a longer website and ask them to find specific information on it. Then, you do the same thing. You want to find that specific information. You will find it five to ten times faster than they do. You have become much faster at skipping and scanning than you have in the past. That is change in your mind. You basically have rewired your brain by being online. And then, the third one is the feeling that you really feel. You feel more rush today even with all the time saving tools and even if it’s not a fully real feeling, you still have that feeling of being more rush like life is more hectic. It’s faster pace than it ever was before. That feeling is inside of you. Again, that’s because of the Internet rewiring your brain and so, this is taking place in our minds online and our conversion process, how we convert leads into subscribers and then, into customers has to change along with this rewiring process and the good news is there’s a simple recipe that determines the conversion of anything you do online and this is what you’ll be able to use within 15 minutes at the end of the webinar. You’ll be able to take this little simple recipe and look at any website with it. Let’s give you the recipe real simple. We call it the hand principle. The hand principle is desperate problem, unique promise, overwhelming proof, irresistible offer and a reason to act now. Those five elements are in everything that you do and this is one of the things that you’re going to write down. I’m not going to stay on this slide long enough to write all these pieces down. But I’m going to cover all five of them in more detail here in a minute. Terry Dean: Boosting Your Conversions irresistible offer and a reason to act now. You need all five on anything that you want to use to use to convert someone. Think of those as your hand principle. Everything else works on them. The first one is the desperate problem. Does your product or service truly solve a desperate problem? For example, helping someone get away from a hungry bear. Is the hungry bear coming after them? Does it help them get away? If someone has type 2 diabetes, they were looking for a solution to that problem. Can you help them solve that problem? If someone wants to become an affiliate and make more money from their website, that is a problem. If someone who needs to lose an extra 20 pounds, that is a problem that they want to solve. If people are looking for an auto-responder service, that’s a problem they need to solve. So, everything is going to come back first and here’s how you can tell if something is really a problem; in this market, the people that you’re speaking to already spending money on the subject. That’s what you’re looking for. Are people already spending money on this subject? I don’t want to go into any market where nobody is spending any money. I don’t want to be trailblazer anymore. I’ve tried that multiple times now online, and each time that I’ve done that, I went into market where I said “hey look, there’s actually no competition whatsoever in this market.” We had a horrible failure as I went in there because I found out pretty quickly the reason there was absolutely no competition is because nobody was buying anything. They weren’t buying anything so of course, it was really cheap to advertise because it didn’t matter how much you advertise. People didn’t buy anything. So, the first thing I do now in any market when I look in any market is look, is there a problem and our people spending money to solve this problem. The bigger the problem the more money that’s often made and I want you to look at this on your website. We have a term on a website that we call above the fold and above the fold meaning that on the website before I scroll down even the least little bit, I see a certain amount of information above all of the websites. Terry Dean: Boosting Your Conversions So, this is before I scroll on the page and you want to make sure that you call out your customer above the fold. You want to make sure that you let them know what problem you’re solving on the website very quickly. What is it that you’re going to help them do? Often, I’ll even start in my articles and e-mails with them. If then, type a first sentence, if you are serious about losing 15 pounds in the next 45 days, you have to hear the three tips I discovered something along those types of lines. Just the beginning of an article ‘cause what we’ve been looking for is the problem that you solve. You’re going to let them know exactly who you’re calling out to and often, this could be a story that also identifies with the audience. You had this problem. I started this webinar presentation telling you the problem I had before I came online. I was delivering pizzas for a living. That was my problem. That’s where I came from. The next point after you have the problem that you’re actually solving a problem is you need a unique promise and as the unique promise again in the first screen information is above the fold. Here’s the point here; your visitors have gone in five seconds. If you do not let them know that there’s something new that you’re sharing here, that there’s something unique on your site, they’re gone. If they say I’ve heard that before, they’re gone. So that’s what we’re constantly looking at with our article titles and we’re looking at our blog titles. We’re looking at e-mail subject lines. You want to find something that they haven’t heard before because that’s what will make them leave very, very quickly. Instead what we want them to say is “how in the world will they do that” and this again, comes back to why I like stories so much on the website. I love telling people stories what happen in my life or something that I did or something I found or something I tested and tried it or this product that I purchased. That’s the reason. One of the best things that you can ever do in selling an affiliate product is you buy it yourself. You put it to use. You use what results are produces and you tell your story because telling your story solves many of the solutions of the five points by itself. The next one is you want to provide some form of proof. You want to form a proof such as at many of my sites, you’ll see the books I’ve written. I will put the books on the site even if I’m not trying to sell the books. I’ll put a little graphic on the books somewhere because it’s a form of proof that I offer this. Terry Dean: Boosting Your Conversions news outlet that you could have seen the information in. We show proof of income. That was earned somewhere. Before and after photos is what you’ll see in the weight loss market all the time. One of the best things that you could ever do is any type of physical product so you’re selling an affiliate physical product, one of the best things you could do in that case is a video demonstration of the product and action. Actually watch it take place, here’s what it does and that’s when you’ll see many infomercials use that very strongly at demonstration of product over and over again because they’re showing proof that it’s working. The ultimate affiliate proof, as an affiliate, what you really want to show for your proof is you want to show a case study, what results have you personally achieved or somebody that you know has achieved with whatever the product or services that you’re selling, what specific test have you done with it, have you put to the test, have you reviewed it, have you compared it to other products in the market, what have you done here. That’s the best thing you could do as an affiliate is you can actually give a form of proof like this. You’re telling your story. And here’s a little secret, just consider this an extra in with this. Let’s say that you want to get a guest post up on somebody else’s blog. You find this blog at the high traffic blog with the extend guest post at this blog. Well, how do I get them to accept my guest post? Let’s say that they reject 80% of what’s out there. How can I get them to accept mine? Here’s a little tip; go back through information they’ve shared in the past, go back through all their previous posts, look for something that they talked about in the past that you have done in your life that you’ve actually practiced something they taught. Maybe you practice it because they taught it. Maybe you practiced it before they taught it but it lines up with the exact system that they’re teaching. And if so, what you can do at this point is do a case study of that method, mention that post. So, when you write your post, mention the post they previously wrote about this and say that you had put a system just like that in. Don’t say that you use their exact system that you had done previously. But you could say that you put this into practice. You put these steps. It confirmed so much of what had happened in your life and here’s the exact story of what happened in your life. You write a post like that for a blog and nine times out of ten, they’re going to accept that guest blog post as long as you do a decent writing skill. Maybe you’ll hire (at a little cost) an editor for you. But you will get that approved, you will get that posted because you’re giving them proof for their site and then of course, you’re getting that very valuable link back to yourself onto their site. So, just there’s something to think about if you want to try to get guest posting ‘cause this systems work in everything that you’re doing. The fourth element that I talked about was the irresistible offer. A lot of that is going to come from the merchant that you’re promoting. They’re going to have an irresistible offer that’s worth considerably more than the asking price. But the point for you is there anything that you can add to the offer. Is there anything else you can do to make the offer stronger when talking to your customers? When I promote an affiliate programs, it’s really based off of my e-mail list and it’s based off of the authority site that I build and because of building the relationship with my customers, they know that if they ever have a problem with an affiliate that I promote, they can come to me and I will get it worked out. I will contact them for them. So guess what that does? It does number five. It removes part of the risk for them because I’m going to go bat for them if we have a problem as an affiliate with something I promote and on the same lines as an affiliate, are there any bonuses that you can add on, any extra tools that you could add on to it? And whenever I promoted a high ticket product, one of the best bonuses I found promoting a high ticket product is to offer some sort of time. So, let’s say that we’re promoting something that will give you $500 commission or maybe even gives you a $300 commission. What you also offer that anybody who buys in your link, they will get a 20-minute consultation with you on how to put in the best practice. Well one time, I was promoting a very large affiliate offer; I actually get a group webinar for it. So, if you purchased this product, I was going to do a couple of group webinars with you to answer any question that you had about this product you are buying and also, I was going to show you how to get started in that because I found that whenever you promote anything, the Page 21 Copyright (©), All Rights Reserved Niche Affiliate Marketing System, Inc.


Terry Dean: Boosting Your Conversions most often thing that the product is lacking that you’re promoting is a really good detail step by step starter system basically some way to get started quickly. This is especially true if it’s a big type of information like they often need how you get started, how you get the best results of it quickly and so, that’s something that you can do a group webinar for any of your buyers that you’ll show them how to get started with it quickly. You’ll be there for any questions that they have and you’ll help them use the information. So that’s something you could add to it as the affiliate. So that’s part of the irresistible offer. So even though the irresistible offer is often based on the merchant, as an affiliate, you could still get involved and you can improve the offer on your side that you will definitely improve yourself. Number five, this is the fifth component is immediate action. Are you asking for an immediate action on the website? Are they going to lose out on something if they don’t take action now? I would actually prefer if this one wasn’t required, if we didn’t have to have an immediate action for the offer ‘cause sometimes, it feels like you’re being a little pushy. It feels like you’re pressing people a little bit. But every time I tried to leave it out, every time I tried to drop out this fifth element, we basically drop their sales in the toilet by dropping it out and this especially becomes true again over the last couple of years. It used to be that if we run a special for a week that we will get sales consistently the whole week. Over the past year specifically, if we run a sale for a week, we get half of the sales on the last 24 hours. So, the deadlines are either strong today that people are waiting until the deadlines for an offers, and what I find most affiliates do is they shy away from the sell. You give people a good review, talking about what it’s done to you and your life and then when it comes time to ask them to take an action, you don’t ask them to take the action. You shy back from it. And I want you think what will they lose out of their life if they don’t take this action, because at this point in time, I’m assuming that you’re selling a good product that really does work. That really does improve their life. That worth more than the price that’s being sold for and if that is the case then, you owe it to your customer to the best job you can and get in to make the right choice because the reality is, is they’re afraid to make a wrong decision.

Terry Dean: Boosting Your Conversions So, you’re going to help them overcome that fear and move forward for something that will improve their life. The easiest thing for them to ever do is to sit in this status quo and stay right where they are and you got to have courage. I don’t want you to think of yourself as a sales person. I want you to think of yourself as a coach because you need to motivate them and move them to take action for something that will improve their life. So, this big five, the five that we just talked about here, they apply to everything that you do. They apply to articles that are use to lead people over the merchant site. They apply to reviews that you create to lead people over the merchant site. They apply to your e-mails. In an e-mail, I will follow the model like this; I’ll talk about a question that came in. I’ll make a promise very early for them to read more. I will give them some type of case study, somebody who used this will be a form of proof and the offer might be a freebie that they can go download and the action I ask them to take is click this link now. Don’t miss out on what this is going to do for you. And here’s how you’re going to use the five elements: you could edit your e-mails with it, you could plan your blog post promotions, you could judge potential affiliate deals. What I mean by that, look at the sales page where the product is being sold and does it have all the five elements on the sales page. Does it have proof above the fold? Does it talk about the problem? Does it give a unique promise that stands out? People aren’t going to say exactly the same. You can judge real quickly whether it offers right for your audience, whether you should even promote this affiliate offer by looking at those five points because if it’s missing some of them, if it’s missing any of them, it’s going to hurt the conversions that you have. So, think about them when you look at them. You can phrase your interviews based off this. You can basically script your videos. Everything that you do, you can use the same five simple and principle. So again, desperate problem, unique promise, overwhelming clue, irresistible offer and a reason to act now. If people don’t buy from you, it’s going to again be one of this; they don’t have the problem you solved or they don’t feel it’s the most urgent problem and that’s a good reason not to buy from you. Maybe the audience isn’t right for this offer because they don’t have this problem or your product doesn’t stand out as any different than anyone else is or they simply don’t believe you. Terry Dean: Boosting Your Conversions Your offer isn’t worth the price to them or they want to think about it till later. Those are the five objections that are going to stop them from making the sale, they’re going to stop you from making the sale. Let me give you an extra bonus tip that will really applies to you as an affiliate. This is real important for you as an affiliate. Consistent, entertaining, informative content blows away the one shot sale. Basically, building up your audience, building up your authority so this could be your authority site, your blog or it could be your e-mail list and you’re consistently following up with them and all three of those are very important. It’s consistent. It’s entertaining and it’s informative. You leave any of them out and it drops in power. You need all three for it to build the relationship because you can’t sell with constipated content. People can’t pay attention if it’s just a dry matter of fact manner. It has to be something that is made real to them. It has to be something to choose in. Here’s the best practice in e-mail. I call it the 3 Es of e-mail follow up. We want to entertain. We want to educate and we want to earn. Again, that’s one of those things that you can market: entertain, educate and earn and for entertaining some opt to do a little story. I like to do a little story. Then, what’s your point? What’s the moral of the story of the education and then, how do you connect it to an offer. Example, one of the emails that I wrote from my list not too long ago was called Blind Drivers and Broke Gurus and the reason I wrote that e-mail about blind drivers and broke gurus is because I went to the, this is a story I told. I went to the optometrist and it just came up in the discussion. When I was at the optometrist, I told him that since I moved to Florida, it seems like we have more bad drivers here than anywhere I’ve been in the past. If you’ll be driving down the street, you’re driving and there’s no car in front of you, no car behind you. So, it’s like you’re all alone in the street. There’s a car that’s on a side street. He looks right at you. He looks at the road. He looks right at you. You get closer. You get closer and then, he pulls out right as you’re almost up on him. You have to slam on the breaks to avoid getting hit and he could have waited till right behind you or he could have immediately came out a long time before you. For some reason here, they’re constantly doing that and I would say that even though I don’t drive much that happened to me at least once a week here even when not driving much. Terry Dean: Boosting Your Conversions told me, it’s because in this area, he has so many people that come in to him and they are legally blind basically when they come in to him. They can’t see the car in front of them. So that person was looking at me and he likely didn’t even see me because he needed to be at the optometrist. He told me there has been a lot of people that he told them they had to get their eyes fixed. They had to get the glasses before he was letting them out of there with their license and it’s the same way online. Those blind drivers are just like many of the broke gurus online. They had one success story and now, because they have one success story. They’re telling everything about it. They’re going to show you how you can become a millionaire online for the one success story. There are no different than the blind drivers and then, I can lead that in pretty much any of the product that has the earn point. I can lead that story in to any of the products I sell because I’ve been doing this for over 15 years. I helped more clients and I think I’m more direct one on one with more clients than anybody else has in this business and you can see that’s a simple story or metaphor or someway a humor that you can lead in as a model that you’re thinking about in your promotions. It’s something I like to call the radio show model. Pay attention to the popular radio and TV show personalities that you find out there. These could be the Rush Limbaugh’s. This can be any other people that you find that have a radio show or TV show personality and how many of these would you say are true about them. They’re entertaining. They’re controversial. They’re extremist. They’re bold. They’re opinionated. They are self-promoters. They are loved by fans and hated by others. Does this apply to you and the content you produce? Are you entertaining? Are you controversial? Are you an extremist? Are you bold? Are you opinionated and are you loved by your fans and hated by others? I find that everybody that I work with when they first get start online especially if they have their name on the e-mails, their own personal name or their name on the blog. They always have a problem with the soon to come criticism that’s going to come. Someone isn’t going to like what you say. You take any stand at all. Someone isn’t going to like it and someone is going to complain about it.

Terry Dean: Boosting Your Conversions I remember this was years back but when I first started sending out e-mails, I had someone who e-mailed me and complained about what the e-mail I sent. Every single week, he complained. Well, he didn’t like this. My grammar wasn’t good here. I misspelled something or he didn’t like my idea. He didn’t think that would work. Whatever it was, he complained about every single week. I got tired of it. I got a couple of months to this. So, I believe in my own list. I just scroll to the bottom of the message and he replied on, I unsubscribed and unsubscribed him. I thought that would be the end of it. No, the next week, he sent me an e-mail. I didn’t receive any e-mails from you this week. So, I guess that was how he got his jollies out of the league was replying and complaining about what I was created and me contacting the audience. The reason you have to think about here is you need to have a little bit of controversy. You can’t bring that forward if you can’t have someone say “well, I disagree with this.” If no one can disagree with you then, you’re not grabbing anybody’s attention. You’re not controversial. You’re not making any waves. That’s where you are basically if you don’t make any waves, you don’t get any attention. So think about it that way. We want to get attention in our business. So, we only have some type of controversy. Think about again, where can you bring in stories, where can you bring in strong opinions and how can you be an extremist. What are you an extremist about? See, one of the things that I’m extremist about is I’m an extremist about conversion, wanting us to have the absolute best conversion we can possibly have on our websites because I know and I’ve worked for so many people that once we got the conversion in order, everything else became so much easier. If you went back to that very first chart that I showed you, we talked about pay per click. We talked about blogging. We talked about article. We talked about all the different things that you can do. If you can get the conversion in place on your site correctly for your market then, everything else becomes easier. The pay per click, so what if it becomes expensive? You can convert better than the competitors are doing.

If the articles become more competitive, you can hire more outsource workers to write more articles and stay ahead of the curve. The winner is the person who can do the conversion in the market and can consistently stay there and be strong with the attitude and it really is that simple. Look at what we talk about tonight. Again, consider this is like the basic model of what we’ll cover and we’ll cover much more in depth when we get into the NAMS workshop in August. But we covered that there’s multiple ways to go out there and listen to your audience for free. We covered tweetgrid.com and we covered that you could go over to youtube.com and look at what the winners are. So, we can see what customers and prospects are saying. We can use their wording. We can see what’s being winning on YouTube. We’re ready to create a headline out of. You can use that same strategy and other sites such as Ezine Articles wherever they’re showing the listing of the winners. We can look for that type of term and we can find headlines that already work. We basically instead of writing ourselves were doing the listening process and then, we’re going to take the five elements that they talk about. The desperate problem, the unique promise, the overwhelming proof, the irresistible offer and the immediate action, we’re going to take those five points and we’re going to apply them to everything that we do. The first thing we’ll do is we look at any merchant that we want to promote as an affiliate and we’ll see do they have all five in place. If they don’t, it’s not going to convert the way we want and if there’s any place they’re lacking, can we improve on it. I had again a couple of clients just recently last week, one of my affiliate clients asked me to look at one of the sites he is promoting and when we were looking at the site, we saw that the weakness of the merchant really was on the proof side. We look at the five elements. They were weak on proof. So what we immediately did was we took and we needed to add more proof to his pre-sell page. So, the page that was in his blog before they went over the site, we need to add more proof that. So, he needed a story that connected and he need to actually put the product in use and review it so he had a proof and people went in proven before they went there because that’s where it was lacking. And if you keep using this recipe no matter what you’re doing, it’s going to become natural to you and you’re going to think about it over and over again. Even if you aren’t comfortable with video and even if you currently can’t sell your way out of paper bag. Before I came online, selling for Little Caesar when I deliver pizza for Little Caesars, I also had a job of selling salad dishes door to door and I only had the job for two weeks because I sold a grand total of zero while selling them down door to door. So, I could not sell at all and what I want you to see here is again, I want you to change the attitudes more being a coach than it is about being a salesperson. We’re going to listen to what the audiences are saying. We’re going to listen to what our team is saying and we’re going to help motivate them to the right action for their life. That’s what we do in marketing. The biggest problem is actually using this information to transform your income in your life. I’ve had alot of clients that I’ve worked with that have had success doing this type of system, what we’re talking about here, and we’re coming down to the end not a whole time in this. So, we’re not going to go through and actually read off any of those. But those are just clients that I work with that they put in practice. Somehow we work with and they would improve the conversion. Many of those were buying. A couple of those were testimonials that came for Dr. Glenn Livingston who worked with me to help put together the total conversion code that we had. We definitely did not cover everything tonight. We didn’t even come close to covering everything. You need more than this to cover everything that has to do with the conversion system on a website. There’s a lot more tools for finding that you can listen to and find what exactly what people are saying. We can go further in depth on how all the five principles work on a website and how you can use them to improve the website because what Dr. Glenn Livingston and I did is we put together a fully documented step by step A to Z conversion system where you just organize and feedback your customers own words in the correct order, following the steps we lay back. So, what we talked about is we use Glenn’s expertise of the research and find out exactly what customers are saying and then, we use all the experience I’ve had in doing the conversion parts of the system online and we order and organize what these customers are saying and we basically feed it back to them on the websites. Terry Dean: Boosting Your Conversions That’s what we do in our promotional materials and every step that we share comes with full examples of cheat sheets and templates that you can steal and put into immediate action. This is something I have never seen done before. But we even covered 23 different ways website strategy is different from traditional e-commerce for informational products when you’re selling as an affiliate. How is our conversation changed with affiliate? We talked about that. No matter what type of business you’re in, we talk about how you’re unique and how you can apply these principles. Terry Dean: Boosting Your Conversions two columns, only three are comments. The rest are sales links, popular sales items like baby clothing. Is this normal? Terry: That is normal and that’s the reason that you often have to sit there for like 15, 20 minutes and I will sit there and I will grab all the customer comments and keep pasting those up in notepad and I will ignore the sales link. So that is very normal. David: Okay. Terry: In some cases, you might need to modify the keyword you’re searching by just a little bit. I mean you can start noticing that customers might be using a little bit different phrases. In those times you might need to change a little bit. David: Okay. His next question is does this mainly work for a digital products or is this also work for affiliate products through Amazon and other sites like that. Terry: It will work for any type of products. The system that we’re talking about, it work for anything that you’re doing and the methods that we covered, they really work for anything that you’re doing as well. David: Okay. And I think he’s asking this next question a bit more about affiliate. If you’re using this for an affiliate product via Amazon for example, how do you provide a unique promise or an irresistible offer when you’re selling such a common product? Terry: The point at that point is when you’re promoting a product from Amazon, you’re probably not going to be able to have it as a unique promise per say in the product itself. But what you can do is whatever it is that you’re doing before you lead them over there that’s what you do with unique promise. So, what you do is you look for the comments on Amazon. This is one of the methods we didn’t talk about tonight. This is one of the methods that I use to find what customers are thinking is you look through some of the customer comments for that product, look through some of the reviews they wrote even look at the comments on the reviews and look to see if anybody says anything about the product that the company didn’t say themselves and none of the other companies are saying.

Terry Dean: Boosting Your Conversions So that’s what I look for say “hey look, this person said something. No one else said,” and the moment I see that, that’s like alarm bell goes off in my mind and that turns into something I use on my own website. David: Okay, that sounds great. Are there other sites that you use other than Amazon and TweetGrid? Terry: There are a lot of sites that you can use. You can use TweetGrid. You can use Amazon. You can use YouTube. You can use Ezine Articles and the list actually goes on and on. David: Does that list included in your program? Terry: It is definitely included in the program. David: Yeah. Terry: We spend several hours going through all the different methods you can do here and I’m kind of wary of saying all of them here because they might be a little confusing if you don’t like show them. David: Sure. Terry: Like on YouTube, if I just said YouTube, nobody would have got anything. But I actually want to show you, we will just pulling the subject lines for a bit. David: And just along those lines, you don’t have to give specifics on this that is Facebook a bigger or smaller piece of your research these days? Terry: Facebook is actually a little smaller than like Twitter because Twitter is so much easier. David: Okay. Terry: Okay. So, Facebook gives good information. But Twitter, it’s just so easy to research Twitter quickly.

Terry Dean: Boosting Your Conversions David: Okay. So that’s not. Any other questions please put them in the question box. I have one or two here. One of the things that you talked about that just stood out at me was rewiring our brain. You always see things a little differently from other people. That’s been the experience that I’ve had with while watching you and taking your other coaching and stuff that I have. So, I understand that you’re training yourself to do that. Dr. Livingston, I’ve been following Glenn for a couple years via his weekly audio podcast particularly and he gave such great free content. And I wonder how much impact this had on you on rewiring your brain because you already started rewiring? Terry: Well, we work together a lot now. When we first met, it was several years ago and Glenn became a client of mine to help him with some of the conversion of his websites and then, he really improved me a lot on the research side because I can tell you that doing the conversion and helping him improve his conversion was much easier than my other clients because he already had the mind to do all the research and so, when we put something together, he already have all this information. He had all this information he heard from Twitter, all this information he pulled from Amazon. He had it all in a nice neat list and then, create a conversion website out of that. It’s so easy. So, he definitely changed my mind a lot here and us working together and really program in each other and that statement of reprogram in your program, it’s kind of like you said. I saw it from a different light in most people and I just kind of I was chatting with Glenn and we discussed it one day about how the Internet really is rewiring our brains and since, he’s a psychologist by trade before he was doing his online work and before he work with the Fortune 500 companies. We talked about how that had happened in the past as well in other points and time frames and so, that is not basically uncommon. It’s happened in the past many times that society rewires our brains and everyone’s mindset starts to change in my society including such things as we talk about. He told that they were totally different mental conditions. If you go back a hundred years, the mental conditions they had then are totally different than the ones that they have today of the mental problems because of how society changes. David: Right. Okay, I’m looking forward to this. One of the things I’m really looking forward to is that when I first heard about Glenn’s research methods. Terry Dean: Boosting Your Conversions just a lot of research that he does and that’s going to take a lot of time.” I’m really excited about this to see that you help us figure out how to jot that time down. So that seems to be really important to me. Terry: You definitely can. You can spend a lot of time on the research or you spend a little time. For example, if we have someone here who is a professional copywriter that’s what you do for a living, you would want to go deeper and then of course, we cover much deeper in these methods. We’ll give you some other real simple methods you can go through including what Glenn calls his intelligence dashboard that you just setup for like an hour and then from then, you just come back to it for like 15 minutes every once in awhile and you’ll have all your information there. We talk about simple things. Then, we have more in-depth research including such things as talking to customers or clients on the phone if you ever want to do that and if a copywriter got this of course, they would want to go all the way into depth into the research of someone who’s an affiliate or you’re just selling a couple of products. So, you can use these really quick and easy research methods and get the majority of the research done in a few hours or at most, spend one day really getting to know your market.
