Coaching Staff

Natalie Dreyer Head Coach Natalie Dreyer enters her first season as the head coach after a successful stint as an assistant coach in Missouri. Dreyer spent the last five years as the assistant women’s coach at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo., helping the program to a 46-33-12 record during that span. Additionally, 12 players earned All-Conference honors and 13 more achieved conference Scholar-Athlete status during her tenure. Dreyer, a native of St. Charles, Mo., helped guide CMU to four straight winning seasons, highlighted by a school-best 14-3-2 record in 2011. Dreyer also served as the assistant men’s coach for two seasons at CMU, where she fostered a pair of winning seasons. “I am very excited to be at the University of the Ozarks,” said Dreyer. “I was attracted to Ozarks for its small school atmosphere. Here, I have the opportunity to mold young student-athletes’ lives.” Dreyer holds a D coaching license from the United States Soccer Federation and a National Level Coaching Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. She worked as the assistant coach for the Missouri 1997 Olympic Developmental Program from 2012-2014 and was the 1999 assistant ODP coach. Dreyer also served as an assistant coach at Boonville High School (Mo.) and was a resident camp coach at the University of Missouri. She was a standout player at CMU, serving as a three-year captain, while earning All-Conference honors three times. A four-year starter, Dreyer was a two-time conference Player of the Week. Dreyer’s coaching philosophy includes playing a sound, creative brand of soccer, as well as endorsing a high level of fitness. “I love a creative and attractive style of soccer,” said Dreyer. “The formation we play will depend on our opponent, and what fits our team the best. To win games we must be defensively and offensively sound. We must bring a high intensity level to every game. It will be our goal to be the most fit team in every game.” Dreyer’s recruiting emphasis will include the personal classroom attention provided by Ozarks’ professors as well as the benefits and balance of competing at the NCAA Division III level. “Ozarks is a unique and beautiful place,” she said. “Student-athletes will receive personal attention from

2

the faculty and staff here. That isn’t typically found at larger institutions. The NCAA Division III philosophy is based on the quality of a student-athletes overall educational experience, and I believe Ozarks exemplifies that. Student-athletes learn how to balance their academics, while competing in the sport they are passionate about. I want student-athletes that feel comfortable in a small school atmosphere and have a high work rate, coachable attitude, take their academics serious and have the passion to win and compete. It is my goal that every young woman that comes through my soccer program will graduate with their degree in four years, and then go on to use the life lessons developed at Ozarks in their career.” Dreyer received her bachelor’s degree in Education from CMU in 2010. She also has a master’s degree in Education from CMU. Dreyer and her husband, Andy, were married in 2013.

Ana Ramos Assistant Coach Ana Ramos is in her first year as the assistant coach. Ramos, a native of Arlington, Texas, was a four-year lettewinner at LeTourneau University, helping the program to its most wins since 2009 her senior season. She started in 13 matches and recorded one assist in her final year, and as a junior she started in 19 matches. She finished her career as a three-time American Southwest Conference All-Academic Team member. In 2014, Ramos attended the NCAA Career in Sports Forum in Indianapolis. She starred at Martin High School earning MVP honors twice and serving as the team captain. Ramos received her bachelor’s degree in business management from LeTourneau in 2015.

Universit y of the Ozarks 2015 Preview

EAGLES BUILD UNDER FIRST-YEAR COACH First-year Head Coach Natalie Dreyer has re-energized the U of O women’s soccer program by bringing in 12 new players and building a foundation for a successful program. Dreyer came from Central Methodist University where she served as an assistant coach the previous five years. Dreyer immediately went to work and increased the team’s depth and talent, adding eight freshman and four transfers. “We are excited about the energy of this group,” said Dreyer. “As a coaching staff, we have been working on getting the girls to buy into what we are building, and they are doing that. We ask them to give 100 percent every day and we ask them to hold each other accountable.” The competition for playing time has been intense with the addition of more players, according to Dreyer. “The new players have brought the competition level up,” said Dreyer. “It has increased our depth, too. I tell the girls their spot is open, so everyone has to be ready. Everyone has a role on this team and everyone has to buy in so that we can achieve our long-term goals. There is a lot of talent out there. We have one or two players at each position.” The Eagles return six starters, including two AllConference players. Senior defender Hannah Carter and junior forward Frances Adams were both named Third Team All-Conference in 2014. Carter started in all 20 matches and scored three goals. Adams scored twice in 19 matches. She also picked up one assist and took 41 shots. Seniors Haley Gilliam and Vicky Romero are proven players for the Eagles. Gilliam has scored 12 career goals, while Romero had an All-Conference sophomore season before getting injured as a junior. Sophomore forward Brittanie Gragg scored a team-best five goals and had 32 shots last season. “Frances causes issues with her quickness,” said Dreyer. “Haley provides us with energy and depth up top. Brittanie fights and is athletic. Hopefully, we can have Vicky to full health soon. She is playing good soccer now. We will have some solid combinations up top.” Ozarks has plenty of experience in the back, with Carter leading the way. Returners Morgan Markham, Maggie Johnson, Eustacia Templeton and Alex Lewis bolster the team with starting experience. “I like to attack, but we have to be disciplined on defense first,” said Dreyer. “If we don’t have a solid defense, it will be difficult to compete in this conference. We have depth in the backline. Hannah

Brittanie Gragg provides the team with leadership back there.” Ozarks will turn to freshman Megan Bradford to start in goal. “Megan is super athletic as a goalkeeper,” said Dreyer. “We will have Tristan Sanchez as the backup.” Ozarks did not win a conference match in 2014 and finished 3-16-1 overall. “We will work together to meet our goals and expectations,” said Dreyer. “In the preseason, we want them to compete. Once we do that, we can move forward with placing emphasis on the number of wins.”
