MY MANIFESTO

Can Surreal Become what is known to

Surreal means things that are very strange or unusual; or having the quality of a dream. Reality means the true situation that exists or happens. The meaning of architecture is when you combine surreal and reality together. Architecture is an intense irrational reality of a dream in a sense, is the level of integrity in which, makes long term goals become real-life results.

out is a start. It can be to creating simple lines on a coordinate plan system to creating circles or ellipse. There is no limit when plotting out your ideas. Coming up with a concept is one of architecture’s most defined key to development of a design. Your idea has to have a purpose and a meaning behind it. It can be something random but, has to have a specific meaning depending on the architect’s point of view.

Ideas are surreal when the start of designing. The creativity and imagination is what’s crumbled up within one’s mind. Coming up with ideas is not easy because one’s creative designs has to be seen as a potential reality. Taking pieces of your thoughts and distinctive ideas will be taken apart and unraveled to become devoted as a possible design brought into life. This process of architecture is all about digging deep into your inner thoughts to making something unbelievable become believable, not only to you but to society as a whole. The ability to feel free and work open minded is obtained behind the art aspect within architecture. Art plays a major role with imagination and being able to conduct anything that flows out naturally. It can be justified as a reckless success stating that art can portray any meaning depending on the viewer and that’s the true beauty behind architecture. Developing sketches on a piece of paper to get your ideas

Once a thought is carried out onto a visual understanding, analytical thinking and problem solving begins. To be able n making sure the surrealistic dream comes true, it goes through a process of problem solving. The level of commitment comes into place where steps of comprehensive precision and accuracy are very important. A design must be efficient and looked over numerous of times to be able to have it tested and brought to life. It is all about creating pros and cons of a design and manipulating it to flow within standards. A hypothesis of a design is trying to test and prove that your design will do well on its own. The surrealism is defined through a serious of predictions and what if’s in evidence. Though it portrays a dream come true and a distinctive mechanism of a dose of reality. Adding and subtracting features to your designs can came in favor for an architect. Questions may be raised for instance, is the purpose serve to a public

audience or private and is the design in any form of way going to be oriented the same to its surrounding buildings? Observing is a key term when it comes to architecture. Architects are constantly observing and thinking in their mind and possible ideas that may be a solution to a reoccurring problem. Observing is very important while studying what ou observed is human nature. Things that are observed are sometimes reconstructed in a form of modernization. There are many views on the way people look about things in life. Everyone has their own perceptions and feelings towards something. When your own perceptions is taken and put into art, it’s then viewed by others on how one looks at life. Architecture is the same way. Architects level of creativity comes from the art and insanity of observing and staying alert to all surroundings. This is how architects brainstorm houses, buildings, bridges, master planning and much more. It’s the saying of having a good eye of life and keeping an open mind. Much great work comes from precedents all around the world. Architects get an idea or can always relate it to something. They plan and rethink about unrealistic things that no one has even thought about. Reality is driven based upon the

be

commitment of making this obscure idea be viewed in this world by others. Hence, every idea is recycled and redrawn to be powerful and distinctive in its own right from the last one. Dynamically devoted to making change for the better is something architects live for. Once a surrealistic idea is presented and solved completely what’s next is making strategic plans to make this creation work within society. Test models are proven and scaled to size where the final decision is made upon request. It’s very important to construct study models to get a visual understanding of the design. This is where many adjustments are made and reconsidered. Sometimes ideas are crushed and will have to be rethought out again. With all the stress and irritated moments that is the fundamental of being an architect. Once the test model and adjustments are made, many things go into place such as cost to build, environmental factors, relativeness to site and consumers satisfaction. It’s extremely important to view potential success and downfall of a new creation within being brought up to a current site. Making a better life for the present and future is an architect mission. The task is to make the new design consumer and environmental friendly as possible. That includes surroundings and sustainability. Many designs should not be improperly design to the

point it’s an economically disaster where it’s effecting the environment and its surrounding. Developing a strategic plan and logically thinking about causes and effects will be a success in the long run. Modernism is the practice, usage and tendency in technology with an expression to modern times. Technology is constantly moving forward so it’s important that architects are constantly thinking ahead. As previous stated, designing comes within a state of mind as the level of artistic vison is somehow to let out through visionary growths. The way one thinks is the way one comprehends and connects with the form of modernism. One who embodies its characteristics will effectively deliver a much influential design. Technology and architecture is a force to be reckoned with dominantly controlling how society will shape up in the future. The capacity of making irregular shapes or forms of buildings to designing skyscrapers that envisions the whole city’s territory is a domestic instinct every architect will reveal. Moving forward with technology will best feature incredible buildings to come as shaping modernism will effectively be changing globally and environmentally. What’s surreal or seems to be unreal shouldn’t matter in our lives. At this point just about anything that seemed impossible became

possible within the last century with the help of technology. Architecture shouldn’t not be ought to be seen as an unrealistic dream. Ideas thought out well converts from a dream to life. What an architect strongly believes in can become true art and can be defined as a mechanism of modernism. An architect always wants their imagination to come to life and to see it built right before their eyes. Reinventing architecture is the true meaning of bringing a surrealistic point of view to sanity while unraveling the truth behind life.

Clearstory, curtain walls and lightwell are 3 primary light sources that incorporate sun into the building allowing daylight to project off walls and materials, creating visual comfort. The curtain wall on the facade will capture the most sunlight whith the existing of overhangs to keep the Annual Sunlight Exposure (ASE) at a much lower percentage. the windows throughout the spaces within the buulding are on the side diplaced as an arch shape. These Roman like windows are placed on the wall at a much higher viewpoint casting light downwards into the space providing more of Spatial Daylight Autonomy (sDA).

Mix Used

ARC Division Tech Studios & Constituion Plaza-Hartford, CT Housing

Arc Division Tech Studios & Housing is a mix used structure that holds architect studios for nearby universities and residential housing for those who live out of state. I divided the spaces in a unique method of each related program being distinguished on multiple levels. The bottom levels are academic spaces. The level that meets at constitution plaza which, is a general pedestrian friendly walkway is my gathering space. The top remaining levels are the residential units split into two sections. The whole idea was to enhance the flow of pedestrian traffic throughout the building but maintain a private vs public setting. I also wanted to enhance the amount of sunlight throughout the whole structure where I added an atrium through the center of the building.
