A Transparent Girl is a collaboration TiiM PROJECT by Aya Uekawa and Joseph Ayers.
Using both analogue and digital painting processes, TiiM has created an animated digital painting that explores questions of cultural and gender identity. The portrait meditates on today’s hyperreality; a moment when the reliability of space, time and matter is becoming less certain. A Transparent Girl offers a window of introspection and contemplation within this moment. The contrast between the hand-made gold leaf frame and the distorted digital baroque frame creates a surreal window to view the passage of time evident in the opening and closing of symbolic flowers, animated eye movements, and modulating skin tones.
