Loop

An Urban design project for a live work hosuing block that promotes healthy living, social interaction and Community. It is context sensitive and intergrates with the city giving back with an urban intervention. The Concept started off with having a cycling track around the site for the kids to interact with. The idea being families can use this closed loop to get out of their house on the site and enjoy nature in the outdoors and catch up with other families.

You have this defining pattern in the urban fabric, very linear corridor lined with eight schools, I name it edu cation avenue.

This can then be expanded (pink) in the future to link to other urban generators such as shopping centers, one can cycle there and back within 15 minutes and interact with others on the way too.

Location : Innovation Hub

To design a sustainable Innovation hub as a global landmark for research and education into storage solutions and efficiences for renewable energy with a focus on domestic and transportation.

Concept : The intuitive process of thin-slicing based on patterns of information and research.

The project is located within Dubai the tourist capital of the country with big ambition in all feilds to be groundbreaking and A leader in innovation the perfect location to set up the innovation hub.

The site is higly accessible from vehicles and pedestrians. There are also a lot of public transport options availiable. The building uses excess energy from the PV panels on the roof, windows and trees to store energy in water, then distributes where required, this is the sustainability proposal utilising hydropower.

Design a project for the specified client with the required components, in a fitting site that will be a global landmark for the a specific team and an international hub for the UNWTO. A place for education, research and .development, were tourism can be explored and a sense of belonging in nature enjoyed

The site and context were adapted from the dilapidated old building. The facade is a celebration of Arab Architecture and the tourism of the local bridged together with the global contemporary exhibition. The functional spaces from the area schedule with the spatial relationsips were tested in multiple configurations. Having one floor recessed in the earth allows for an additonal journey out to the waterfront with the functional .serene nature reflection platform, subsequently reducing energy requirements

The facade envelopes were testing the ability to be sculptural while reducing indoor heat gain and sun hours acting as a self shading device, not giving up the quality of internal spaces and their functional requirements of natural light for the exhibitions and the working spaces therefore the light wells were constructed

Downtown Dubai

I worked in collaboration with the retail design team and the asset management team. My role was to bring together the unique skills of an architect to assit in reviewing retail proposals for incoming fitouts. Visit and inspect site with the team to monitor and update progress. Produce graphic design mockups for production in updat ing drawings, maps, signage, graphics, artwork and wayfinding. Assist the team in producing vis uals and graphics for proposals to be also used in conjuntion with the local authorities to have ideas more clrearly conveyed. Attend team meetings regarding introductions, technical, project issues and scheduling as an observer. Finally create a proposal for an Unwind Room that is a future ren novation plan to modernise part of an office and create a calm space for rest and relaxation.
